Deal on transfer of Keirrison

Catalan television channel TV3 claims that there's a deal on the transfer of Palmeiras forward Keirrison (20) to Barcelona.

Barcelona would have used the first option they had to buy Keirrison and paid a transfer fee of 13 million euro° plus 3 million euro° incentives. The Brazilian stiker would sign his contract in the coming days.

It's nevertheless not yet clear what the final destination of Keirrison will be since Barceloan is expected to try to include the player in another transfer deal, which means the Brazilian could end up at Valencia (Villa), Atlético Madrid (Forlán) or Porti (Bruno Alves).

to valencia or atletico or porto.
its just loan right?

pep said...

That's not specified, Anony.

barca4life said...

why are we buying keirrison to loan him out though? Would it not make more sense to have a front line with

Messi etoo henry - Bojan Keirrison Gai?

Anonymous said...

of course only loan, but i can imagine completly that he would stay. great move, if tru!

Anonymous said...

if its true, 13m(plus3m) for keirrison is awsome job!

Anonymous said...

could anyone explain to me WHY ???
we have bojan !!!

super stupid in my opinion

wasting 1/2 of the 30 mil budget

GREAT
FANTASTIC
get young promising players and loan them out. only the superclass ofcourse!

Bojan hasn't got the tools to play '9', Keirrison has them with his 182 cm, and good heading ability. Bojan's best position is second striker at the moment, but he can become a good winger too. These two players are very different, and what if we just bought the new Ronaldo? He can be a flop too, but being the youngest pichichi of the Brazilian league all time is very impressive, just like leading the scoring charts NOW in the Libertadores Cup with only 20 years.

barca4life said...

Uhm i think this is a good move actually. Keirrison is the next big thing to come out of brazil, he has stated he wants to come to barca which is always a good thing and we needed another player for the forward line. If we keep him, he can learn his craft behind etoo this season and if we loan him out to get villa (which i dont like) it is supposedly also a good move. I think he is versatile enough to slide across our front line but it does raise some questions over the future of gai/bojan

Messi = 22
Keirrison = 20
Bojan = 18 (will turn 19 before next season)
Gai = 18

Who sits on the bench and are any of them willing to sit on the bench?

barca4life said...

When i say who sits on the bench, if keirrison is a success it would mean the end of either gai or bojan long term

Dolce said...

Keirrison is twice the player compared to Bojan who is too short, indirect and tentative. Barca´s short and long term success is more important than Bojan´s or Gai´s future!

Anonymous said...

why do you all mention Gai? It's still not clear if he's going to start with the first team.

barca4life said...

I mention gai because he isnt going to wait around forever for first team football. We could see another situation like fabregas reina daniel pacheco iago merida where talented players leave us not only now but talented players from our youth academy that feel they have a better chance of making the first team at arsenal or liverpool than at barcelona.

barca4life said...

I just hope dolce we are not lamenting the loss of a great player in the future while keirrison turns out to be another saviola who leaves us after a few years ends up playing for real madrid and then watches his career crash and burn. Maxi Lopez also comes to mind.

James said...

You can't build a whole team based on homegrown talent, it has to be a mixture of talent.

Those players leaving is something you can't always help. Iago was probably pissed off by Enrique for not promoting him immediately to the B team. Reina left because he would never had overtaken Valdes. The fact that he turned out better is moot. Fabregas/Merida left because we already had Xavi/Iniesta & whatever their agents promised them.

I can't think of a case where someone left directly because we purchased a player and didn't give them a chance. There are many factors when they leave, whether we can't offer big contracts, or the age restrictions, or agents, or other teams tapping up the youngsters promising their family money & whatever else. You can't keep every single good young player.

James said...

The situation you envision where our young players leave specifically because we signed someone happens when a young guy is like Giovinco's age, 20-22, and ready to step into the first team and we don't give them a chance. Those youngsters all left at like 16, 17, 18 before they're ready for 1st team on any big club. They just left for reasons beyond management's control. Either they were promised first team action they were never going to get, or we already have players that are better than them (or they feel is better), or they were offered more money. The exception being Reina, he did leave at an age when he was ready for the 1st team, but like I said, he was second choice and he didn't want to play second fiddle, there was no way to keep him unless we chose him over Valdes.

barca4life said...

I know it wont happen now james i was really talking about in 2-3 years time

I think bojan and keirrison are different styles, i can see bojan taking henrys wing spot as he can cut in and strike the ball well. keirrison will hopefully develop to take the CF position. I like the amount of youth options barca has though

Anonymous said...

Maxi Lopez didn't score in Argentina though. Keirrison is a Inzaghi type of player (abit taller of course).

Congradulations To everyone!!
Is he going to stay??
or is Barca going to lend/Trade him for another player? :(
*And* Did Luis Filipe sign for Barca yet??
Thank you
BarcaSoldier

Anonymous said...

Trade him would be totally stupid. We have paid for him.

Anonymous said...

His coach at Palmeiras, Vanderlei Luxemburgo, is saying he is not prepared to play in Europe. He says they had an agreement for him to leave in 2010 after the World Cup. There seems to be a lot of controversy with Traffic.

Apparently Keirrison left his apartment on Thursday and didn't appear today at training. He traveled to his hometown Curitiba because the deal is almost done.

KluivertsBoots said...

I don't buy that he is a make weight for Villa unless it is just a loan. I can understand it more if it is just a loan, but it makes no sense to buy and then give away. I've never heard of that before.

I think this is actually a very good player to buy to learn behind Eto'o and also help push Bojan along.

Anonymous said...

I dont have big expectations from him. I think the price is a bit steep for a quite limited player who is also abit lazy on the field.

Caribbean Hotspot said...

this guy doesn't impress me at all you see the way he take penalties keepers in la liga will read that eeasy.

buj said...

Including him for the Villa deal is nonsensical. That would mean Villa would cost us around 55-60mil (40-45 plus Keirrison), not worth it. A loan deal maybe plausible.

Anonymous said...

how can u know how he takes penalty by watching just a few vedio.. and then comenting keppers would easily read him ...lolzzz

he was top scorrer in there league in 08 ....if arsenal or manu would have bought him we would have cried ...!!!

he is a good prospect can play on both wings thts why he has been bought so he can easily shift in our system

regarding gai he is good but he hasnt established him self in barsa altetti squad how can u say he is ready he will take atleast 3 yrs .. bojan is also not ready loaning him to would be great ...!!

Anonymous said...

The kid has good composure in front of goal.

Manolo said...

there is no trade.. who the fuck wants to change European fotball for Brazilian?

HERES WHY WE SIGN HIM:

We sign him and loan him out to valencia in 2 years so we can get a lower fee for Villa.

WHY?
Pep doesn't want to get rid of Bojan on loan.

So we got a worldclass striker,Villa
A very talented striker in Valencia who's growing.
And then a great talented striker at the club, Bojan

In my opinion, a great buy if it goes through...looking at his age and the profile of the player, a beatiful transfer..What Laporta said is really true, that we nurture talents at club and Madshit buys talent with money+muscle power...More reasons for me to love Barca..Mes que un club..

a beautiful* transfer

Visca La Barca

pep & dearest barca fans,

1st,i would like to congratulate barca's scouts, please sign this kid for god sake!!

i dont knw what u guy see in this boy,but for me he HAS everything a striker 'must have'
:god-like first touch
:quick footworks
:classy goal scorer
:next ronaldo el phenomenon?perhaps

Barca can loan him out NOT sell, let him adapt to spanish league 4 a year, get him back,he'll score 30 goals consistently per season.

*injury prone?gv 2 season to valuate him in this category.

SJP said...

really like this guy, could be one of those great transfers, if all the top clubs want him then he must have some talent. this is the transfer policy we should have, getting players for the future, our present squad has proved their good enough. look to the future.

i understand the worry of losing good cantera products but at the same time the top quality players earn their places, they dont just have them reserved for them. bojan and gai are going to have to prove they are good enough regardless of who is ahead of them, otherwise they are not good enough for the team. bojan has gone a long way to showing that he has the potential, but gai, we'll have to wait and see, but barca should still buy good youngs talents to have the best of both worlds.

Anonymous said...

But Barca should concentrate on great talents if we want to buy talents, not limited players like Keirrison who only scores tap-ins and doesn't provide anything that Eto'o doesn't. He is like worse version of Eto'o.

Brandon FCB said...

Palmeiras have officially said they recieved a bid from Barca, also that Keirrison will not play against Santos this weekend. Apparently the coach just quit because of the likely transfer.

hawk_barca_4_life said...

ya best transfer after the renewal news .... !!!
he will be great in barca and will definitely improve to become the best ..ya and good work by our scouts they have been monitering him for past 2 yrs!!!

Scano814 said...

honestly this was one of the most clever transfers possible...gives us the upper hand in all transfers now... we now have a make weight for villa and it scares eto'o to move. Also if villa or eto'o dont move k9 wil be a great understudy this season. We are back in the driver seat with this transfers. EXCELLENT job by our board.

I will admit i wanted ibra but i am very content with this transfer.

Anonymous said...

Why are you content with a player that won't contribute anything to the play except tap-in goals?

NouBarca said...

RVN is/was the master of tap-ins yet one of the greatest strikers of his time. Tap-ins count. and hes just £11Mil.

Anon who do u suggest we buy and for how much?

Jason said...

LOL!

Tap ins or no tap ins..it's the goals that counts!!!

strikers only job is get the ball down & score the goals...
