Medical: Keita uncertain for Espanyol game

Barcelona player Seydou Keita (29) is uncertain for the cup game against Espanyol this evening.

Keita had to leave the training session yesterday after he again had prolems in his right knee that was bruised last Wednesday in the first leg against Espanyol which prevented the Malian midfielder from taking part in Saturday's game against Numancia.

Injured Keita not in Numancia list

Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola has earlier today announced that 19 players are called-up for the twentieth league game of the season against Numancia this evening at 10 pm.

The list:
Valdés, Pinto, Jorquera,
Alves, Puyol, Piqué, Cáceres, Abidal, Sylvinho,
Xavi, Touré, Busquets, Gudjohsen,
Messi, Eto'o, Bojan, Henry, Iniesta, Hleb


Keita has some troubles with a bruised right knee after the Espanyol game and was not included in the list. Milito and Márquez are also not available because of injuries. Pedro and Víctor Sánchez will play with Barcelona Atlètic later today. One goalkeeper will still have to drop from the final list.

Barcelona had a last training session this morning. The players have now the afternoon off and are expected back at the Camp Nou at 8:30 pm, one and a half hour before the start of the game.

Medical: Green light for Keita

Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita (28) received earlier today, after the morning training session, the green light from the Barcelona medical staff.

Keita got injured during the league game against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday 19 October when he sprained a muscle in his upper left thigh and suffered a sprain of his left calf after twisting his ankle (read more

Medical: Keita training with the group

Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita (28), who is recovering from injury, returned to the group training today and has been training normally with the first team.


Keita got injured during the game against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday 19 October (read more here) and was then expected to again be available in two weeks time.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Keita will be ready for the game against Recreativo Huelva on 16 November, or even for the cup game against Benidorm next week.

Medical: Keita returns to the pitch

Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita (28), who is recovering from some muscles sprains in his left leg, returned to the training pitch today to do some running and some exercises apart from the group.

Keita got injured during the game against Athletic Bilbao one and a half week ago (read more here) and was then expected to again be available in two weeks time.

Medical: Keita probably out for two weeks

The Barcelona medical staf has announced that Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita (28) has sprained a muscle in his upper left thigh and suffered a sprain of his left calf after twisting his ankle during yesterday's game against Athletic Bilbao.

More tests will be needed this Monday to establish the full extent of the injury, but the player is definitely out for Wednesday’s game against Basel and will most probably be out for the next two weeks.
