Youth players take part in training sessions

Over the past two days several youth players have joined the training sessions of the first team.

On Thursday, Barcelona Atlètic players Jonathan, Masip, Nolito, Ilie and Montoya and Juvenil A player Gustavo joined in, this morning the selected ones were Barcelona Atlètic players Luque, Nolito, Ilie and Armando and Juvenil A players Etock, Gustavo, Terrón and Balliu.

Calm training week in Barcelona

Due to the international matchs coming up in the next days, few first team players were present in Barcelona to take part in the training sessions.

On Tuesday, nine players (Valdés, Jorquera, Pinto, Márquez, Gudjohnsen, Sylvinho, Bojan, Pedro and Víctor Sánchez) trained together with Barcelona Atlètic.

On Wednesday, seven players (Valdés, Jorquera, Pinto, Márquez, Gudjohnsen, Sylvinho and Bojan) trained with three Barcelona Atlètic players (Gai, Solano and Rayo) and four Juvenil players (Muniesa, Dos Santos, Rochina and Bolaños). Pedro and Victor Sánchez played that day a game with Barcelona Atlètic.

On Thuesday, six players (Valdés, Jorquera, Pinto, Márquez, Sylvinho and Bojan) trained with six Barcelona Atlètic players (Nolito, Verdés, Maric, Rayo, Gai and Solano) and two Juvenil players (Romeu and Rochina). Gudjohnsen didn't take part because of stomach problems. The next training session is only planned for Tuesday.

In the meantime, the injured players (Milito, Abidal, Puyol and Iniesta) continued their recovery, while Touré travelled to Ivory Coast where the medical staff of the national team performed some medical tests. The defensive midfielder is expected back in Barcelona tomorrow.

Nineteen men included in Lyon list

Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola announced earlier today that 19 players are called-up for the first leg of the 1/8 finals of the Champions League against Olympique Lyon on Tuesday at 8:45 pm.

The list:
Valdés, Pinto,
Alves, Puyol, Piqué, Márquez, Cáceres, Sylvinho,
Xavi, Víctor Sánchez, Touré, Busquets, Keita, Gudjohsen,
Messi, Eto'o, Bojan, Henry, Hleb


Milito, Iniesta and Abidal are injured. Jorquera and Pedro are not included. The final list of 18 players will be announced later. The team has trained this morning and will travel to Lyon tomorrow. Barcelona Atlètic players Verdés, Nolito, Rayo, Abraham, Maric took part in today's training session.

Suspended Marquez and Pique not in Sporting list

Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola announced yesterday that all available players are called-up for the 22nd game of the Spanish league against Sporting Gijón this evening at 7:00 pm.

The list:
Valdés, Pinto, Jorquera,
Alves, Puyol, Cáceres, Abidal, Sylvinho,
Xavi, Touré, Busquets, Keita, Gudjohsen, Víctor Sánchez,
Messi, Eto'o, Bojan, Henry, Iniesta, Pedro, Hleb


Márquez and Piqué are suspended because of a red card last week. Puyol returns from an injury after receiving the green light yesterday. Keita is apparently also again available. Pedro and Víctor Sánchez will not play with Barcelona Atlètic this weekenf. Milito is still recovering from an injury. The final list of 18 players will be announced later today.

On Friday, Barcelona Atlètic players Botía, Córcoles, Abraham and Jeffren trained with the first team. On Monday, Maric, Nolito, Abraham, Longas, Rayo, Rueda and Benja joined the training session.

Barcelona had a last training session this morning. After they will have a lunch together, the players don't have the afternoon off this time but will stay at the NH Constanza hotel until they will return at 6 pm to the Camp Nou for the game.

Several key players not in Benidorm list

Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola has earlier today announced a list of 16 players for the first game of the first round of the Spanish cup against third division club Benidorm, Tuesday evening at 9:00 pm.

The list:
Pinto, Jorquera,
Alves, Piqué, Cáceres, Abidal, Sylvinho,
Hleb, Touré, Sergio Busquets, Víctor Sánchez, Abraham
Henry, Bojan, Eto'o, Nolito


Goalkeeper Albert Jorquera returns to a match list after more than ten months and two Barcelona Atlètic players are called-up: midfielder Abraham and wing attacker Nolito. Barcelona wing attacker Gai Assulin has today been training with the first team but is not included.

Márquez, Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta and Messi are not included in the list. Central defender Milito, wing attacker Pedro, attacker Gudjohnsen and midfielder Keita are not available because of injuries.

Five B players take part in training

Barcelona returned to training yesterday, with Alexander Hleb normally taking part in the exercises.

Because only six first team players were available, Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola called five players from Barcelona Atlètic to join the training session:

goalkeeper Oier (19 - first picture, third from the tight), central defender Verdés (24 - first picture, on the right), midfielders Fontàs (19 - first picture, fourth from the left) and Rueda (21 - second picture, on the left) and forward Nolito (21 - first picture, second from the right)

Today five other players joined the session:

midfielder Longás (24), centre forward Maric (24), defensive midfielder Xavi Torres (21), attacker Víctor Vázquez (21) and midfielder Abraham (23)

Rafael Márquez, Samuel Eto'o, Seydou Keita and Touré Yaya, who don't have to play with their national team on Wednesday, are expected to take part in the Tuesday afternoon training session.

B players keep on training with first team

While the internationals are coming back from their trips abroads, Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola kept on calling players from Barcelona Atlètic to join the training sessions over the past days.

On Wednesday, seven B players were invited over: right back defender Córcoles (23), left back defender Espasandín (23), midfielders Longás (24), Busquets (20) and Thiago (17) and forwards Nolito (21) and Maric (24). Yesterday and today, only Busquets remained with the senior squad.

Four B players train with first team

Because only six first team players were available today (Alves, Eto'o, Valdés, Pinto, Sylvinho and Víctor Sánchez), Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola called four players from Barcelona Atlètic to join the training session this morning:

Barça B - Official: Nolito

Barcelona has officially announced the transfer of Ecija forward Manuel Agudo Durán "Nolito" (21), who will play for Barcelona Atlètic (previously known as Barcelona B) next season.

Nolito, who has played over the last two seasons for third division team Ecija (on loan from Valencia), has signed a three-year contract with Barcelona. The Spanish striker is, after Rayo and Solano, the third signing of Barcelona Atlètic (read more

Nolito, who scored two seasons ago a goal against Real Madrid in the Spanish cup, is described by the club's official website as a forward with a great technique who is good in one-on-one situations. Besides being a born goalscorer, he also is known for his assists.

In a first reaction to the club's official media, Nolito showed his happiness about the transfer: "Since I was a little boy I have been a Barcelona fan, so today a dream came true. I never thought that I would sign for this club one day and that's why I'm very happy and motivated. I will try to give everything during my stay here. Others should describe me as a player but I think it's clear I'm an aggressive player who always want to win."

Barça B: Nolito confirms transfer

Asked about the rumours that he's on the verge of joining Barcelona Atlètic (previously know as Barcelona B) (read more here), Ecija forward Nolito (21) has confirmed the transfer in an interview with Sevilla sport paper Estadio Deportivo:

"Since I married just recently, I can consider this as another wedding gift. I feel very satisfied to be able to play there cause since I was little I have always been a Barcelona fan. It's a dream to play with the best players. Now I first want to find my place in the second team and then I will try, why not, to make my debut in the Primera División."

The paper claims that Nolito will sign a three-year contract with Barcelona. The Spanish striker is expected to arrive in Barcelona on Monday.

Barça B: Deal with Ecija on Nolito

Sevilla sports paper Estadio Deportivo claims that Barcelona and third division team Ecija have found an agreement on the transfer of Ecija forward Nolito (21).

Barcelona will pay Ecija 200 000 euro° plus variables for the striker, whose transfer has been approved by Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola.

It is believed that Barcelona and the player agreed the last personal terms during a meeting on Monday between Barcelona youth academy director José Ramón Alexanko and Nolito's agent.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Nolito will sign a two-year deal which will be automatically renewed for another year if Barcelona B can promote to the Spanish second division in the coming years.

Nolito will return from his holiday in Mexico on Thursday and will then travel to Barcelona to put his signature under the contract.

Barça B: Offer for Ecija striker Nolito

Asked about the rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona B (read more here), Ecija forward Nolito (21) has said in a reaction to Catalan sports paper Sport that he hopes the deal will go through:

"I'm waiting to see what happens. Hopefully they can find an agreement. It would be really nice to play with Barcelona because I'm a culé since I was a little boy."

Until the end of June, Nolito's former club Valencia had an option to buy the player back, but at this moment the striker has a contract with third division team Ecija for two more years, including a buyout clause of 600 000 euro°. Barcelona would have made a first bid of 200 000 euro°.

Sevilla sports paper Estadio Deportivo claims that Ecija is willing to let Nolito go for 200 000 euro° plus some variables. Barcelona's first bid would come close to what the club is asking.

José Ramón Alexanko, the head of the Barcelona youth academy, is negotiating the transfer and already talked with the player, who is at this moment on honeymoon n Mexico. Barcelona would have offered a two-year contract with an option for a third year and including high incentives.
