Concert of the day: U2


Irish rock band U2 started yesterday at the Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona their new '360°' world tour. U2 frontman Bono put on a Barcelona shirt (with the number one and his name on, given to him by his new friend Pep "Guardilia") to sing the song 'One'.

Stage new U2 tour revealed at Camp Nou

Yesterday, the stage that will be used for the new world tour of Irish rock band U2 was revealed to the press. U2 will open their new "360°" tour at the Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona on Tuesday 30 June.

The stage will be located in the centre of the stadium and there has been tried to create a 360º vision, which is unique in an open-top location and has involved extraordinary engineering difficulties. The stage is 78 metres wide and 50 high, weighing 180 tons in total. The stage architect, Mark Fisher said he feels honoured that the lines of his creation have been compared to Catalan architect Gaudí.

Second U2 concert at Camp Nou

Irish rock band U2 has officially announced today that they have added a second concert to their stadium tour that will kick off in Barcelona in June:

"The Nou Camp show in Barcelona on June 30th sold out in 54 minutes, breaking all records in Spain. A second show has been added, for July 2nd. Our U2.com subscribers can enter a presale for this show from tomorrow, Friday, with tickets on sale to the general public from next Tuesday, March 31st."

How much will Barcelona get for the U2 concert?

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona will receive one million euro for the use of the Camp Nou stadium by Irish rockband U2 later this year for the opening of their new world tour (read more here).

If U2 would later decide to add a second Barcelona concert to their new tour, that would mean another million euro for the club. Barcelona will also receive an extra fee of supposedly around 300 000 euro for the replacement of the pitch after the concert.

New U2 tour kicks off at Camp Nou


Irish rock band U2 has today officially announced that they will open their new "360°" world tour at the Camp Nou Stadium in Barcelona on 30 June.

The new stadium tour will visit 14 cities across Europe in July and August, before moving to North America in September and October.

U2 last came to Barcelona during their Vertigo Tour on 7 August 2005, when over 80 000 people attended the concert at the Camp Nou. Part of the tickets for the concert in Barcelona will this time be reserved for Barcelona socios.
