this post was published exactly one year ago:
Catalan sports weekly paper Gol claims that a growing part of the Barcelona board is considering the transfer of Atlético Madrid forward and Argentinian international Sergio "Kun" Agüero (20).
With all clubs asking high transfer fees for every player Barcelona is interested in, some board members think it's then better to pay big for a sure value like Agüero. The Argentinian, whose contract with Atlético Madrid expires in 2014, has a buyout clause of 55 million euro° (read more here).
Besides football reasons, the election climate with a vote of no confidence and possible presidential elections coming up could be an extra reason to bring in a star player like Agüero. If the opinion polls would appear to be negative for the current board, the pressure to transfer the Argentinian striker could increase.
The paper claims that the player would like to join his compatriot Lionel Messi in Barcelona. If Barcelona can come to an agreement with Atlético or pays the buyout clause, Agüero would be delighted to leave his club and sign for Barcelona.

There is no need for an agreement with Atlético if Barcelona pays his buy out clause. ;)
Go for it!

Paying his buyout-clause isn't as cool as it seems.
You have to pay the tax, which would add ANOTHER 10 mio.!
Considering this, it would be better to offer lets say 45 Mio. and include Márquez in the deal, but this isn't likely as Pep wants to keep the mexican.

Finally..
After years of entirely missed transfer policy things are starting to get in it's place. If only this year's transfers (i mean, similar) were done after gaining CL title, our beloved FCB would still be on Europe's and Spain's top. Almost all transfers in past 3 years were smaller or bigger mistakes but this year the progress is notable. Honor to exceptions, such as Yaya and Larsson but almost everyone alse was either overpaid or not suitable to play for Barca (Thuram, Gudjohnsen, Milito [poor medical examination, obviously], admit it or not, Zambrotta, Thuram, even Henry who didn't lived expectations yet but he deservs to be given some time, Abidal). Don't get me wrong - I am not trying to say that this players are bad or incompetent as any of you does, I am just trying to say that the price paid for them was high and most of them were past their prime.
Considering El Kun, 55M € may seem much, but our friends from Madrid are paying twice as much for a, least say, not twice good player. If Barca are about to splash, this is the man to do pay for.
Things that i regret in this transfer cycle: 1. - Missing Luka Modric; 2. - Not bringing Barca class defensive midfielder (Mascherano, Essien, De Rossi, Hamsik) rather than paying 16M € for 28 y.o. Keita. Maybe it would be better to save money and bring less expensive, underrated DM (Poulse, Mavuba???) 3. Missing Juan Manuel Vargas and keeping Abidal as a first option that is not a finished article yet.
Anothre thing to praise is also idea of bringing Brazilian players (Hernanes, Henrique, Alex Silva) and maybe putting them on loan in one of the mid-table clubs so they can prove their quality.

This is just a dream. It's not going to happen so people need to stop fantasizing about it. Aguero's already said on numerous occasions that he is happy at Atletico and looks forward to playing there at least until his contract runs out. There's also the fact that his club has qualified for the Champions League so what sense would it make for him to leave right now? And as one of the previous commentators mentioned your realy not paying 55mil for him. Once you dot the "i's" and cross the "t's" its going to be more like 65mil! and that's just not good sound financial strategy for Barcelona. And even if you threw Marquez into the deal that would only lower the price by 10mil at most. So you would be better off just keeping him.

Get him now! He wll sure repaid this money. And Henry has 1 y. to play so Aguero and Bojan are d future of FCB. I cant imagine Messi-Aguero link :O! I hope FCB wll sign this player at any cost. FCB FOREVER!!

Although i would love to see the messi/aguero/bojan triumvirate at the camp nou for the next decade,55 million is a just a little bit too much.I personally would not go anything beyond 40 million plus marquez.
One more thing, from a practical pont of view, this transfer does not make sense as they will pay a huge amount for player who is quite similar to the ones we already have.If it does go through then it will be more because Laporta wants to save his ass in the elections rather than footballing reasons.

He seems perfect except one thing with only 170cm he wont work as a center forward but if Pep is considering 4-3-1-2 formation he can fit well beside Henry. he would be the buy of the season although I still think it's all about ELECTIONS!!!
hope I'm wrong

Well it goes against my firm backing reasons for Adebayor, but of course I'd love to see Aguero at Barca, I just want those fun days when creatively Barcelona are untouchable at the Nou Camp, the tricks, the blitzing pressure, however Barcelona as a team lacks height, its there one flaw (well that and they dont play pecentage football), but yeah, if comes, the pressure is on Henry to be the goal machine.
