International: Spain out of Confederations Cup

USA yesterday defeated Spain 0-2 in the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup. Barcelona players Puyol, Piqué and Xavi played the whole game, Busquets stayed on the bench.

Pique and Puyol were terrible together, especially in the first half, against an average team. Xavi was neutralized, Alonso couldn't assert, Cesc couldn't creat, and don't even start me on Riera.
It was scary to see Pique and Puyol make so many mistakes in the first half.
Congrats to USA and their coach who was completely outthinking Del Bosque.

What are you talking about anon, Pique was great and Puyol stole a ton of balls. They were the bright spots on an uninspired performance.
Fact is Busquets should have played instead of Alonso, they need that CDM that Senna usually plays.

The two goals USA got were total give-aways by first Capdevilla and Ramos on the second.

Yeah, what are you saying anon? Pique and Puyol were fine together and were not to blame for Spain's poor performances. Pique won a ton of balls in the air against Altidore and his passing from the back was better than the midfields passing.

Well, at least they tied the record for wins and no losses and asserted themselves as one of the best European teams ever. Besides, its better that they lose now rather than a game or two before the world cup when they don't have enough time to rebuild and improve. They have a whole year to fix their mistakes now.

USA...USA...USA....Obama Obama Obama..
it was funny seeing all those attackers lined up to replace Samu...(all of them rated much higher than Samu by the way) just choke infont of Onyewu and Jay DeMerrit.

yay go USA! honestly. i feel puyol and pique looked fine. capedevila and ramos looked terrible and as heretical as this may be, xavi didnt look as godly as he usually does although i have to say neither alonso or cesc shined all that brightly. riera was pretty good, tore spector apart. but dont feel bad about the loss, this is the reason why we love puyol so much. the heart and grit he shows is incredible, and that is exactly what the usa had in spades yesterday. the last ditch defending was incredible and spain just didnt look their usual self.

I think that especially Cesc were terrible. And of course Ramos. Where the fuck did that guy learn to defend?
