Barcelona wants Cesc and four other players

Madrid sports tabloid As claims that Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain and Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola met on Monday to discuss the coming transfer market.

Barcelona would want to sign five players this summer: a central defender, a right back defender, a left back defender, a midfielder and a left wing attacker. The right back would be Almería player Bruno Saltor (28) (read more here), while Bayer Leverkusen central defender Henrique (22) could return from loan (read more here).

Arsenal midfielder and Spanish international Cesc Fàbregas would have moved to make a transfer possible. The Catalan player wouldn't want to stay at a club where he cannot compete for the trophies. Some sources indicate that Cesc and Barcelona would even already have signed a deal and that the player will join Barcelona next month. The transfer price wouldn't be less than 50 million euro°, although it cannot be excluded that the fee would drop because of clauses based trophies won and games played.

According to this post we could predict 3 out of 5 possible signings.
Well, here they are:
1. Cesc - midfielder (50M)
2. B. Saltor - RB (free transfer from Almeria)
3. Henrique - central defender (back from loan)
4. "Sport" claims that Filipe Luis (23) from Depor could be the new LB
5. Left wing attacker - all options are open, that's the most questionable position and it will depend on transfer market in Europe. Will it be Ribery, Babel, V.Persie, Silva or someone else...we'll see very soon.

Manolo said...

Well its strange.

If we get Fabregas, we can't get Ribery.
It's Ribery or Fabregas!

CuZ.
Will Fab or Iniesta accept the bench?
And yes I know about the rotation that pep is using.

But if we get both it will look someting like this.

Xavi-Toure-Fabregas
Messi-Eto'o-Iniesta

So if we get Fabregas what will we have Ribery for?
Henry and Bojan is good backups on the attacking positiotns and we will also have Pedro and Gai?

barca nike said...

The best option for left back would be filipe luis, because barca will not get lahm because of his price and Zhirkov is on the verge of signing for chelsea

LeónDragón Vida said...

...the left winger, for me,should be david silva...would be very nice to call him our own...versatile player, with very good techniec and ballhandling also very fast and intelligent gameplay...like also that there's not a hype around him like for example on ribery...although ribery would also be a very good transfer...RVP should be no option...not constantly...to get silva and cesc too, would make xmas, eastern and the rest secondary for me...

HouseMD said...

Indeed, it will be difficult to decide, whether to buy Cesc or Ribery. Don't forget that Ribery and Silva can play left, right and center, because they're versatile midfielders. Some Barca players will certainly be sold, that's a fact, to make some space to new signings. To be true, I'd rather sign Cesc than Ribery. Why? As first, Cesc's price could be lower, secondly, he's Barca product. Ribery could come to replace Henry, but how could someone tell Henry to sit on the bench after excellent season he had. Although, I don't see it very hard to incorporate both Cesc&Ribery into same squad. The next season will be long and hard, especially a month without African players. And yes, thank god he saved Barca players from some major injuries. You can count on it always.

JLM said...

guys i know this may sound stupid but i dont recon we will actually sell that many people. Given how much stuff we are going to be in for next season i recon we will keep quite a lot of people to bulster up our squad (excluding all those people who are rubbish) but we will predominatly buy.

Mast said...

no way we're paying €50M for a former youth product + we don't need a first XI midfielder, we need a backup for iniesta and xavi who would accept bench role.

ribery would be gold in our system but with henry, bojan and gai we have enough players for the leftwing.. although it will be a long season.. still a bus-breaking striker should be priority..

FCBarca said...

Agree with Mast...No way does Barca pay that kind of transfer fee for one of it's own in Cesc - highway robbery.

Moreover, the man to target should undoubtedly be Franck Ribery...Game changer folks, game changer

ufc_fp said...

We need someone who can equalize
crosses from Dani Alves. In my opinion ideal solution for that role would be Edin Džeko or Ibrahimović. Džeko would be a bargain.

Anonymous said...

zuka is right. We need a partner for Dani Alves, a bus-breaker like Dzeko.

barca_boy said...

@zuka, what about eto'o? we manage to score 105 goals in la liga and you are saying that we need an equalizer, common man. all we need is a quality backups for our major players because the season is long, we don't need any big transfer, we already have the best squad in the world. if we buy cesc than yaya will lose his place for sure and as for me yaya is better as a defender, and that is the player which barca must have. yaya-xavi-iniesta-titi-messi-eto'o I don't see anything will change next year. and all sites are writing that barca want to sell eto'o, common-he'll stay where he is because he's the best striker in the world, and deserve to be in the best team in the world and to get a new contract. visca el barca and visca el pep.

i_love_boobs_and_barca said...

barca_boy: and what is, say, eto'o gets injured for 3 months? can bojan fully replace him?

HouseMD said...

Guys, you think Ribery will come for free?
Bayern's staff said:"For 50M you can get one of Ribery's leg."

ufc_fp said...

i think that eto'o is geting weaker every season and personally i think
that is shame that he couldnt score the most goals in liga becouse he have the greatest team-mates in the world

LeónDragón said...

...it's a fact that cesc was a barca product...but you have to admit that it was arsenal who made cesc big by giving him from the beginning the chance to play and collecting experiance...who knows which way cesc would have taken sitting on the bench at barca...he made his own decicion and became one of europes best at his position,so not all he did was wrong...he was never a traitor, but a guy who saw his chances elsewhere to play regular...believe that he never forgot barca, but saw his chances lower here...his prize is high, but he's young and no more a talent, but a mature playmaker...the question is if barca needs him at the moment...for me,would welcome him back...

sources close to me have indicated barca will offer eto'o a net salary of E8m euros with the incentive of eto'o earnin E5m euros bonus if he becomes pichichi at the end of eas season this is included to motivate eto'o to become the pichichi also teh player himself will net E2.5m signing fee although the player has fully relinquished his image rights to the club in accordance with the agreement barca have said the image rights money 50% will go to funding a barca football school in an unnamed african country the contract will last 4 years an has a recession clause of E60m euro which will drop by E7m euro per season!!

anotehr clsoe source has indicated barca are looking to lock down messi an reward the player with a new contract in recognition with the season he has had the player will commit to 2014 he will net E12m euro per season, he will get a E5m euro signing fee, the contract is very complex an has been drawn up by txiki over the last 4 months it inlcudes several clauses which was agreed with his agent, a few are that the contract is non negotiable in other words this deal will be the only one messi will get an will be reviewed in 2011 dependin on the performance of the player an regardless the club will not change the contract, the contract also stipulates that messi will not ever use the webster rule whereby a player entering the last year of his contract can terminate it by paying the amount left on that year ie if messi is paid E12m euros per season an enters his final season he will not terminate it by paying the E12m euros, another clause is messi will not move to any other team in spain or engineer a move to another club in spain, the recession clause will be locked at E230m euros throughout the duration of the contract, in return the club has ceded 50% of messi's image rights to messi and also has promise dhim the number 10 shirt number for the duration of the deal, all that is left is for the deal to be ratified by the spanish football authorities and fifa!, you hear it here first!!

Wow, I dont know whether to believe this guy or not. Especially about the Eto'o stuff.

That sort of a deal sounds perfect to me. It would be a good idea to make Eto'o earn his money largely through performance based incentives.

Btw, does anyone have an idea how much the image rights of a player are worth ?

Another term that came up recently was VAT (value added tax), on the Forlan post. How is this calculated ?

Kxevin said...

Everyone, this report came from AS. Which means it's all but worthless.

And all credit to Eto'o, but he is NOT the best striker in the world. He might be the best striker for our system, which is not the same thing.

Anonymous said...

50 mln for Cesc, noway,we need a left winger,a player like Silva,if Eto leaves i think we must buy Villa,he is a great player,he can play well with Xavi and Iniesta,if we can't buy Villa,Ibra is the second choice, left back Felipe Luis, promote 3 or 4 from our academy, that's all.Visca Barca!

ufc_fp said...

i agree with @Kxevin, when Eto'o was

to all those who want to know my sources please accept that to respect my sources and closest aids i cannot state them but please know that iam very close to those within the club and am putting information here for all cules to see, the messi deal will be signed in mid july when the player returns from argentina eto'os deal will be penned in about 4-6 weeks, another player that txiki is looking to reward is iniesta but that will be discussed later a priority for the board next is penning toure yaya to a long term fixed deal similar to messi but with about E6m euros net per season an a E1.5m signing fee, they are talking of a E80m recession clause, the club wants to reward guardiola with a new contract til 2010 just changing his wages! you hear it from me first.

Anonymous(19992) said...

@insideknoweldge.....thank you for the information! but i'll be glad if u could tell us something about the new signings....

insideknowledge said...

i can only shed a little light on who we will sign, first fabregas will not happen arsenal are asking too much i heard they wanted E30m plus yaya toure!!! txiki said E30m but toure will not in anyway be sold!! altho we did offer keita an E20m euros, the idea is that cesc will stay with arsenal for the next season it has been mentioned that sandro rosell has a verbal agreement with cesc to join him next season if rosell wins the election so on that basis the board will not pay inflated fees the player barca are looking at to come into midfield is possible javi martinez of athletic, we are looking again at hernanes as the player has indicated he would be willing to learn in his first season, another we are looking at is a player called richarlyson both at sao paulo, for right back we did look at maicon to use on the left but very expensive E40m euros an sources indicate the player is close to madrid!! we are looking at zlatan ibrahimovic and i can confirm also edin dzeko, we also looking at sebastien frey of fiorentina, bruno saltor we have been talking too for about 2-3 weeks, sylvinho could sign a 1 year extension pay as you play deal! for left back we are looking at ronny of sporting lisboa, felipe of depor, zhirkov of cska is an option but is close to chelsea and we are looking at a young left back who plays for gremio called anderson pico who is dubbed the new roberto carlos, fopr left wing the club has 5 candidates, ribery, silva, van persie, cristiano ronaldo and florent malouda!!! i will post futher information when i am aware of it!, visca el barca i visca catalunya!

could this be Txiki as insideknowledge??? i wonder?!?!?!?!? i dont think i can trust anything unless its official. but nice to hear so many players are being taken into consideration. hope its true.

Anonymous said...

insideknowledge sounds credible, but it is hard to believe that our board will be so stupid that they will award Eto'o 5m euro bonus wage if he becomes pichichi, seeing how he has been absolutely awful when he desperately tries to become pichichi, both times Forlan edged the title after Eto'o looked desperate for the pichichi title, costing us points on the way. Every barcelona-fan hopes he does not try to become pichichi, he becomes awful then.

Anonymous said...

But Txiki is quite stupid so it is credible. The same with those huge new contracts for our players, remember we did the same with Ronaldinho every season gave him a better and better contract, and then when he started to get less motivated and became worse and worse, we were stuck with him on a huge contract. it's a shame that we seem to need to pay our players so much more than Real Madrid have to pay theirs, our club is so great that the players should accept to play for us without having to constantly get new contracts every time they play well.

HouseMD said...

@insideknowledge: at least you can tell us when can we expect the first signing?

I heard that Eto'o's renewal is in the process and he'll be offered a new contract until 2013..
That's a pure rumour about Zhirkov at Chelsea. His agent told that Chelsea offered nothing. Also, I really doubt that thing about CR at Barca, only way is if Nike push him towards.

Of course, we expect you to post some news as soon as you get it. Cheers!

FCBarca said...

Džeko is a phenomenal target but his asking price will be enormous...Probably will be one of the highest sought forwards this summer outside of Ibra...And, personally, I'd take Džeko over him

Anonymous said...

let us hope for dzeko and one of silva or ribery. dzeko will not demand to play all the time like ibrahimovic. it is good that we are looking for tall striker. Javi Martinez is a very talented tall midfielder, the new xavi alonso some say, look at the talent award post he got the talent for best midfielder with busquets. Had a look at Anderson Pico who is on loan from Gremio to Figueirense, a very good right foot shot, wonder how good he is defensively.

HouseMD said...

I mean NO to his renewal.

Anonymous said...

So we are declaring him unwanted and thereby lowering his price on the market? Very stupid move. We have done it before, declaring our players unwanted so we get less money for them. Why are we so stupid?

HouseMD said...

I still hope this is not true. I can't imagine him wearing different shirt.

Anonymous said...

He wore the Real Madrid shirt, so it is not that difficult.

Kxevin said...

I say trust the man who led the side to an unprecedented season. If he doesn't want Eto'o, there has to be a reason. We don't see all the practices, don't watch all the video, can't evaluate players like Guardiola can.

If he says no, I trust him.

And I can assure you that us trying (for the second summer running) to put Eto'o on the market will do nothing to damage his value. The last month of the season might, however. People might wonder about breaking the bank for a striker with intermittently good control who can't finish.

Yes, we know better, but not everyone does.

What about the porto guy Cissokho for LB????
I think he would be a great addition, probably wouldn't compain too much about the bench but I could definitely see him putting abidal on the bench fair and sqaure and abidal can do nothing about it...

For me:
LB: Cissokho/Felipe (7-10)
CF: Dzeko (25)
LW: Ribery (45-50)
RB: Bruno (free) + henrique can cover

Total Cost of these purchases about 75-80
IF we raise 30 for Eto'o and about 10-12 for guddy and hleb combined
We end up only spending about 30
NEXT summer we get Cesc and sell keita! we can also integrate thiago slowly

could be a reasonable amout of money spent

As far as I'm concerned, Cesc should stay at Arsenal as the captain for a while. He should come back when Xavi starts wearing out. If Thiago only has Xavi ahead of him instead of Xavi+Cesc, he will naturally have more chances of playing, too.
Honestly, I have not felt this comfortable and anxious-free about a transfer market in a while. I just trust the current decision makers more than I used to. I'm happy as long as Heinze is not playing for us next season!

ufc_fp said...

i couldnt tell i dont now the player but definitely Bale doesnt suck

Anonymous said...

I'm no expert on the subject but it seems like Txiki and Laporta are absolutely awful at transfers. We have the best youth system in the world and for that reason we get at least half our team for free. That should leave us with more money to spend on fewer players. But why then does Txiki insist on overpaying for mediocre "squad" players? He shells out 15 mil on players like hleb and caceres who are no better than the youth products coming through. They sit the bench, they cant contribute when we need them and we end up throwing money away without gaining any real depth or quality. Between them its over 30 mil that could have been spent on someone who could actually make the rotation better. We are going to be overpaying regardless, shouldn't we at least spend on players who will definitely make the team better?

Kxevin said...

Caceres is for the future, Hleb was supposed to be better than he turned out to be, and still might. Look at Henry after his first season.

Btw just for some perspective.

Let's say we sign Ribery to replace Henry and Cesc to rotate. If Iniesta rotates with Ribery and Cesc rotates with both Xavi & Iniesta.

4 players for 3 spots. We could play up to 70 games next year. If each player plays equal time each could play 52.5 games. Xavi, Iniesta, Cesc, all of them have played 53 games or more in a season only once in their career. Ribery has never played 53 games in a season, or even 50 for that matter.

Obviously getting the players and getting them to accept those roles is a problem. But logistically it's not as crazy as it sounds. Just some food for thought.

why do we want to sign forlan for that much if we keep eto'o.and if etoo goes forlan is not the right guy to replace him.why do we want to sign cesc for that much to sit on the bench especially in the second half of the season.what about milito is he stayin he is gonna play sometime in the future or we cant rely on him after not playin one and a half season.why dont we send jorquera, hold pinto and promote new young talent like oier.why do we want to keep sylvinho, he is aged oldskool thanx to him and send him to school.

we should expell jorquera, sylvinho, caceres out loan, guddy, hleb.

we should promote oier for part time like pedro.noone other than him for now.

we should call henrique back.

we should buy 1back to play right and left especially left.2 midfielders to replace guddy and hleb.one winger to replace both henry and messi, a real good one not midget like silva, a fairly tall one.

gk:VV,Pinto,Oier
df:Dani Alves,New Player,Henrique,Milito,Marquez,Pique,Puyol
Abidal,Victor Sanchez.
mf:Busquets,Yaya,Xavi,Iniesta,Keita,New Player,New Player.

f: Henry,Etoo,Messi,Bojan,New Player,Pedro.

my recommendations:vargas,cissokho,
felipe melo, moutinho, ben arfa, van persie, keirrison, nilmar, benzema, you are gonna yell at me but i have to say bring Quaresma back.i know he has been shit for too long but he is pure technic and fits our system. while rijkaard is gone he could be real good back up player for both wings.i mean if he can find core of himself he can do real good for us.but i have to admit thats unlikely that he has a bad character, he can disrupt the soul of our team whats more he has been performing real shite for too long. yes i am a risk taker.

Last words, i thank god every day that we have xavi, iniesta, messi.
