OFFICIAL: Sylvinho will leave

Barcelona has made public in an official announcement on the club's website that the expiring contract of Barcelona left back defender Sylvinho (35) will not be renewed this summer:

"FC Barcelona has informed Sylvio Mendes Campos 'Sylvinho' that his contract will not be extended when it ends on 30th June. FC Barcelona would like to publicly acknowledge and thank Sylvinho for his contribution and commitment over the last five seasons."

pep's opinion:
messi crying in his arms after the champions league final wasn't a coincidence. his role in the dressing-room cannot be underestimated, he was an example for the young guys, a support for the newcomers. his departure will cause a change of dynamics within the group and that's a rare thing for a player who didn't come through the club's youth academy and who never established himself as a fixed starter. his state of the art performance in the champions league final nevertheless reminded us that he's also a solid footballer and was a dream-end to his stay at the club. hope to see him back at the club in some role in the future. thanks and all the best to him. visca'l barça!

Let me be the first to thank him for all he has given for our club in past 5 years. Gracias, Papi and good luck. You'll always be welcomed in Barcelona and Catalunya. VISCA SLY!

Great person to have on board for all these years.

Barça should definitely offer him a coaching role in the future, he would do very well as a coach for the younger players.

Agree. He has always been applauded and appreciated by the younger players for his exceptional attitude on and off the pitch.

Thank you Sylvinho!

Remember in the Chelsea, 2nd leg, Pep was still running around and celebrating, it was Sylvinho who was reminding him to make some substitutions to kill time.

Thanks Syl for all 5 years, your contribution was vital for us this season.

Farewell and thanks Sylvinho..

Without you we might not have accumulated so many trophies..

Does anyone else find it odd that a LB leaves every time we win a Champions League?

I think I came up with a good name for him in the chat room; "UNCLE". He has been a true uncle for the young lads. and I truly appreciate him for the his role (esp- off field). He would be forver remembered by the cules. 2 champs medal in 5 years.
Watch out for when Henry leaves, Bojan would cry his eyes out

Thanks a lot Sylvinho!
I'm still convinced that we should have kept UNCLE Syl for one more year!
Anyways, farewell and good luck!

for all my fellow cules:

samuel eto'o:

the player will be sold if man city meet the clubs E40m euros valuation this was agreed between eto an barca that if manchester pys this fee out right the club will allow him to open negotiations, we have offered eto'o a contract which he verbally agreed to and is ready to pen, altho both parties agreed to put that on hold if manchester meets this, manchester has approached eto'o with our permission and we undertstand they have offered eto'o a four year contract worth
E25m euros per season plus E10m euros signing fee an the player keeps all image rights royalties, the club have made clear they will under nos circumstance offer eto'o better terms than what they have already put to him previously, manchester for their part have been very respectful and wanted to pay us this fee rather than next season when the player could leave for free to build a good relationship with fc barcelona, man city delegates are also travelling to barcelona to ask barca about la masia and to look at their new youth academy man city and barca will be forging closer links, they asked about messi and the sheikh is a fan of barca and is trying to organise a friendly in manchester and is talking about paying us a E10m euro fee for us doing this as he also wants us to parade the champions league trophy around the stadium and sign autographs, i can tell you here officially it was sandrusco that decided to sell eto'o as he and pep have built visions for the future if sandrusco becomes the new president, apologies for any poor english, visca el barca i visca catalunya!!!!

i am speechless about the info insideknowledge are telling us. it seems that insideknowledge is indeed someone with deep insideknowledge, so his contribution is very much appreciated. 25m euros per season contract for eto in city, it is incredible. more than twice as much as zlatan in inter who has the biggest wage in the world.

hello my fellow cules, sorry i ahve not posted very long but it has been a very busy day to clear a few things up, sandrusco is working with txiki an joan behind teh scenes on the transfers joan txiki an sandrusco have privately put their grievances behind them and laporta an txiki have both said they will publicly back sandrusco when next years election comes about!! watch this space!!, it has been incredible in the last 24 hours the club has had agents offering their players left right and centre, we are working so hard and i want to say on behalf of those at barca we thank you all for you kind words suggestions and comments we try our hardest to make this club as democratic as possible by giving you the supporters the right to tell us what you would want!!, i heard this last night sensationally within the top ranks milan offered kaka to sandrusco for his election term next year the sticking point would be real madrid, milan would prefer to do business with us as berlusconi/galliani have better relations with laporta/txiki than with real madrid they offered him to sandrusco for E70m euros, sandrusco thought turned down that offer as he has other targets, we are all looking at the left wing back position we are talking with depor about filipe and also with fernando roig about caceres returning on loan for next season!!, villarreal also have aproached us to loan bojan for next term, valdes is 3-4 weeks away from penning new deal!!, we have made contact with cesc but we have assured him we will come for him next season when sandrusco will launch his election cammpaign with him as his golden ticket!!.

thanks for everything Sylvinho, from all cules

He could have retired in Barca but if he wants more playing time and new challenges, then it's OK. Kinda same thing with Sami Hyypiä when he signed with Leverkusen earlier this year...I thank you, Uncle. You were amazing, you surprised us all positively

bluess said...

hey insideknowledge.. i hope someone from this blog like pep himself could confirm this.
if you are really talking the truth, then its going to be really interesting :p

bluess said...

oh
and be careful if you're posting secret stuff from the inside. it could get spread, or unsettle the club.
but thx for the info :)

Xaviniesta said...

wow pretty hot stuff from mr theinsideknowledge. any way we can confirm guys? i kinda feel we will be moving for cesc before its too late but samu to citeh? :OOO and who replaces him?? good to know tho we're moving fast as much as madrid. it will one heck of a transfer ssn.

Xaviniesta said...

oh shoot i forgot abt syl..thank you dear blaugrana for your service. just like the rest of the fans here i hope to see you back with the club in a diff role when the time comes. god bless u man!

all true cules wish Sylvinho nothing but the best of luck, he was magnificent in the Champion's League final and deserved his medal. great player and by all accounts a great guy.

insideknowledge said...

i take your kind comments with heed i would never divulge information which would put the club into a bad or unstable situation!!, yes we are moving fast but we are also calm remember we are european and la liga champions so we should be calm, we have made contact with those in madrid and wished florentino a happy return, florentino personally apologised to joan about rumours of them bidding for messi and iniesta and told laporta it was purely for the socios of madrid to back him and he knows these players are untouchable and loyal to the barca project!!, we will not pay ridiculous amounts of money for players, i must remind cules the reason we are in such a healthy economic state is because of the work of txiki, joan and the board which as seen the club in its healthiest state ever to sacrifice that would mean a return to the days when we had to sell stars to finance the debt we had amassed remember figo left due to the fact the club had a E190m euros debt and we could not offer him a new deal at the time because of this!!, we are now debt free although we have such a great economic model that the major banks that deal with us will give us fantastic loan packages, we were approached only 3 weeks ago by santander who offered us E200m euros to be paid over 20 years where the club would only pay a total of E10m euros interest this was rejected by txiki and joan who have preferred to work within there means!!, fabregas will return i can confirm but not this season he will be the golden ticket of sandrusco's election campaign along with another player whom we believe could be sergio aguero.

Yesterday you were posting details of Eto'o's new contract, today you tell us he is going to be sold to City ?

By sandrusco, do you mean Sandro Rosell ?

I am sorry but you are causing more confusion. Could you provide some details about any deal which may be verifiable within the coming days? Such as Valdes' new contract, any new GK we are going to buy or an imminent signing...

I will miss Uncle Sylvinho. He never was mad that he wasn't a starter, he seemed fine with sitting on the bench. Also he has never been bad, I cannot find a game where he was not solid. I too hope he becomes a part of the youth teams managment, if not an executive at the club.

VISCA SYLVINHO I VISCA BARCA

We should not have let Sylvinho leave or be sold. We should have kept him at least 1 more seasons, and gave him a raise. Not only was he is a top notch veteran with much experience, class and is an awesome roll model for the youngsters coming up, and would have really helped out with this difficult upcoming season. Who cares if he's 35 years old Giggs is at least 10 years older. I've always liked you Sylvinho, and really stepped his game up in my opinion as a player and a leader this season. Sometimes people get better with age fellas and I think he a perfect example of this. You will be missed my friend...Good luck to you.
VISCA SYLVINHO / VISCA BARCA

this is for my friend kamikaze:

please accept my apologies for any confusion i may have caused i posed details to allow cules to see that we are determined to keep eto'o but that it is also down to the will of the player!!, basically to cut things down an be precise we verbally had agreed a contract with eto'o which was then drawn up into a legally binding contract extension but my fellow friend you must understand we had a verbal agreement also with samuel that if manchester comes in with a E40m euros offer we wud allow him and manchester to talk they have offered him we believe E25m euros per season for 4 years plus E10m euros signing fee, victor is close to penning a new deal but both sides are maintaining calm an negotiations are still at an early stage although we are confident we can close the deal within 7-10 days, we are looking at a number of keepers frey, asenjo, de gea, lloris, riou, and a young brazilian keeper called marcelo grohe who is showing alot of potential, the rumour of riise is fantasy we are concentrating our efforts on felipe, we had a bid for ashley cole of chelsea accepted we offered E30m euros but the players demands were ridiculous E180,000 per week plus E10m signing, we are working hard on many fronts, and yes sandro rosell (sandrusco) is helping with targets aswell. i hope this answers any questions!!
