Turkish club Galatasaray has today officially announced the appointment of former Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard (46) as their new manager.
Rijkaard had been away from coaching since he left Barcelona in the summer of 2008 and is expected to sign later today a two-year deal with Galatasaray.
After being dismissed by Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam in 2002, Rijkaard arrived in Barcelona in the summer of 2003. Rijkaard stayed five years at the club before leaving last year. With Barcelona, Frank Rijkaard won two Spanish leagues in 2005 and 2006, two Spanish super cups in 2005 and 2006 and one Champions League in 2006.

he could have gone to chelsea or what i expected milan. and than he chooses galatasaray? very strange!
even marseille would have been better!or bayern
I like rijkaard a lot. one of the best coaches around the world!and what a guy
Good luck, Frank!
no offense to Galatasaray but the guy deserved lot more than that with wat he has won with us. hope he reaches better heights with this club and hopefullly better clubs. great 5 years we had with him.
i think he chose Galatasary is because he is back after a rest and doesnot want to feel the high pressure immediately
I could never see that coming
Hi all. Greetings from istanbul.
That's not that strange.
We have important players and that potential.
Pressure? :)
You have no idea about Turkish Football. and our idiot media.
Good luck Frank.
We stand by you.
Good Luck Frank. kewell, arda, baros and frank. wawwww
hi my barça's supporters brothers.
i think you don''t know about galatasaray enough. but doesn't matter. galatasaray is mes que un club like barcelona.
frank didn't come to us for money. our transfer bugdet is low, but he saw our spirit. this is the case.
wish you all the best frankie, top manager and top bloke, my favourite barca manger behind pep obviously! hope he wins many trophies, and doesn't plant any flags like souness!
nice choose ı think he will hapy there couse galatasaray is bigger team of europe
I also think that if he wanted a quiet environment, this wasn't the best choice... :)))
Wish him all the best and hope he stay true to his way of playing and that one day he'll be back at the top level.
Galatasaray is going to be a high pressure environment. Still regarded as one of the toughest places for a team to visit in Europe.
All the best to Rijkaard.
