Transfers of Vitor Baia and Dugarry investigated

Catalan newspaper La Vanguardia reports that the Belgian courts are investigating the transfers of former Barcelona players Vitor Baía (39) and Christophe Dugarry (37).

Agents of the Spanish police would therefore have shown up at the Camp Nou yesterday to look for information related to the transfers. Employees of the club would have provided the documents asked for.

The agents of the two players, Luciano D'Onofrio and Maurizio Delmenico, are accused of having used a part of the transfer fees paid for money laundry.

Former Barcelona presidents Josep Lluís Núñez and Joan Gaspart (vice-president at the time of the events), as well as other former board members, are expected to declare as witnesses soon.

Portuguese goalkeeper Vítor Baia joined Barcelona from Porto in 1996. In January 1999, he returned on loan to Porto, that signed him the next summer. French striker Christophe Dugarry joined Barcelona in the summer of 1997. After half a season, he left for French club Marseille.
