I'm looking forward to that.
Let's just hope they didn't talk about a sale or exchanging Eto'o

I only hope there won't be a fee of 60m for a player who is 29y old next season..
It's a great player no doubt but it's 60m lost.. you can never sell him for a decent fee..that's why I prefer a younger player!

The battle goes on Ibrahimovic V Kaka from Italy to Spain. Good that Ibra always the winner:)

so it's true

this means ibrahimovic will soon be barca player. moratti looks scared, because he knows he will lose ibra to barca.

I like Ibra and if Pep can instill the work ethic and enthusiasm he would be excellent. My concerns is the price and perhaps the age.

Honestly do not feel we should have to pay more than $45-50M. I also hope we r not doing this just to steal the thunder from the Kaka to RM deal.

...don't like ibra...but i took a deeper look at him, also my brother is interfan...and have to say, that he's without a doubt the worlds best striker!!!!!...when you have him in your team along with xavi, messi, iniesta and etoo, there are no opponents no more...he has all a striker needs...to give away henry could be better than etoo,if someone must go...henry won now everything, soon gets 32...ibra could be very worthy to defend our titles...his wage demand and prizetag is high, but again,he's the worlds best...can't deny it!!!!!...this time, barca will do it right...even if i was fully against him at the beginning...25 goals and a few assists in the home of catanaccio, the serie a,speak also for him...

Justin said...

But which position he will play? Ibra-Eto'o-Messi? I don't think Ibra can play at wing. Unless we switch to 4-4-2. I think Eto'o is a goner. It would be a waste to play Ibra on the left anyway

LeónDragón said...

...justin...exactly that is where ibra plays well...he's no typical center-forward...he comes from the flank, where he has the place to start his attacks...when you watch his games for inter, you'll see him rarely just standing in the center...his ball-handling and physical power is amazing,unbelievable...with some tactical teaching lessons he could become our strongest weapon...just watch and stun!!!!!...right wing, left or center doesn't matter to him...

there's a cool story bout him...when there was a hype around carew,he said..."what carew does with the ball,i do with an orange"...arrogant,but funny...

really hope they were talking about maicon or maxwell, pep is already a legend but if he can get ibra to drop his ego, play selflessly with 110% effort and not mess up the dressing room atmosphere then he may truly be a god.

don't like this need for a strong, aerial threat CF, what are we now an EPL team playing long ball? especially as we are going to be a laughing stock for paying that much for him, if ibra comes ribry goes to madrid, we might want to play galacticos with them but we cant match them financially, only one massive transfer and i hope to god its ribery not ibra.

It just makes sense that we get both Ibrah and Maxwell. Both fit the bill for what we need perfectly. Plus they are best friends and played together at ajax and inter, Ibrah even named his son Maxi. It is always good to have that camaraderie in our team.

Moratti and Laporta were all smiles after the meeting and according to reports moratti asked for the meeting. When asked about a swap he said " I dont see it" but he said He "likes Ibra and Laporta, Etoo"

Ograsrot said...

Maybe Eto'o's lack of confidence, beeing reflected in his poor form the last part of the season, was due to his knowledge that he was leaving to make room for Ibrahimovic.

Because if and when Ibrahimovic arrives, he well have to presented in a proper jersey, most likely jersey #9.

Mahi said...

Ibra is one of the best player without any doubt. but he is arrogant and egoist. So i fear it will destroy the integrity of out team. Also price is very high and we have to give him a high salary sometimes more than messi!!!! I like to see him in Barca. If pep can change his attitude then it will be a good signing for us. Also we have to look for Ribery he is cheaper than Ibra.

JR said...

He could get Gudjohnsen's #7

Davood said...

i'm hopeful to see ibra in barca's squad.it dosnt matter really eto leave barca, this term eto will not available for the whole season, besides, ibra is hungry for cl and its a privilege.

thanks for everything that eto gave to us but this is the time that we have to think about the best for the club.

kamikaze kontiki said...

Wont repeat what was discussed earlier. But there is no way back from an Ibra deal. If he doesn't fit in, we may not get more than half the price we pay for him. Besides his salary will be huge. Additionally, the rest of our activity in the transfer market is going to be highly restricted since the fee we get from an Eto'o sale will be so much lesser given his contract status.

I really like Eto'o (like all Barca fans should), and even though hes done so well this season, I have a feeling that Barca will decide to sell for two reasons:

1. His participation in the African cup of nations.

2. His deal expires in 2010, so Barca will want to sell so they dont lose him for free.

I rate Ibra very highly, and although they are not the same type of player, i think Ibra will be a very good addition. He is a big powerful forward which is what i think Barca needs, and he is also very good on the ball. I dont think he will have an ego problem if he goes to Barca as Pep will set him straight.

LeónDragón said...

..."don't fit in" doesn't exist in ibras vocabulary...he's a world class player and was whoever he played...and i'm sure that he fits in better to the spanish football than the italian...his prize is high, but he is a unique...whatever happens...buying him is never a mistake...and you can't say that his selfish, because he's also known in italy for his brilliant passes wich most times were leading to goals...it's true that he's arrogant, but i asked myself if this really comes from his teammates or just from his opponents...think,that the teammates playing with him have an other view of him...he's a mercenary, but he also never played at barca to feel the blaugrana...so i think,he would change automatically,by playing for a club with that kind of history...even henry felt it,who was also a little arrogant and called selfish at arsenal (also by his opponents)...

LeónDragón said...

...and who said that ibra won't play together with etoo...with him,we don't need nor silva or ribery...the left wing was filled by henry or iniesta...a rotation is also possible with etoo, henry and ibra...all are able to play on this positions and don't make us weak on that...after what i saw by ibra, studying him closely on clips and people who follow inter,i say,he should be seen as the best transfer we could make...his force is amazing and together with what we already have we would be unstoppable...that's theory, but i think it could also be the truth...some surely remember what he did past against roberto carlos...would be nice to see him doing the same on the madridistas of the present...

Maybe they were just drinking coffee...? It will be miserable to see Eto'o playing for other team if rumours are right

If you read Wikipedia Etoo has sign for panatinaikos.. obviously somebody is making a joke, quite funny..

"Samuel Eto'o Fils (born 10 March 1981 in Douala) is a Cameroonian footballer who plays as a striker for Greek Super League club Panathinaikos FC. He is the all-time leading scorer in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations, with sixteen goals, and is also the record holder in number of appearances by an African in La Liga.[2] He is currently the 4th highest goalscorer in Barcelona's history and the only member of the current squad to be in the top 10."

who said Ribery is cheap? Bayern are so bloody stubborn not to let go Ribery for cheap. they are asking for atleast 50 mil for a player who is entering his last year of his contract. i guess the money we pay for Ibra is better than wat we might pay for Ribery, which is almost the same.

KluivertsBoots said...

The transfer fee will seem big, but for players like Ibra the wages make more of an impact than the transfer fee. Ibra can pay Barca back a lot of that with good performances and merchandising. I would like to see how much money Barca made off of Ronaldinho.

Ibra can't really be marketed as a world star at Inter because they are not successful in Europe.

Guardiola can get the best out of him. I think the existing team will bring the best from Ibra. He has more than enough skill to play Barca style. He is a solution for teams who think they can park the bus. That's why Guardiola wants a big 9.

it seem like laporta is aiming to keep eto and still sign zlatan, i want to see how this will work out during the season, will zlatan play a new role at barca like henry did or will eto play second fiddle to zlatan or the other way round.

florentino and real madrid are a disgrace to football they only know about big stars and don't keep the balance in football and break the bank all the time, they are in debt and yet they pay so much money. while barca have huge stars now, they did not start that way, messi, iniesta, eto, xavi, puyol, pique, victor valdes, yaya toure, keita etc. henry was a big star we signed but real are looking to buy 5-6 which will cost over 200mil, laporta said " real are disrupting the market and i fully agree". learn to build a squad and trust less talent that will become better and with all of this signing they want to sign, not one defender other than vidic which is impossible has been named. just reading anything about that club makes me want to bomb madrid.

I think Ibrahimovic will replace Henry, may be Henry will become our new Larsson since his pace is not getting any better.

If we get him pluz Zhirkov, I think we are sorted. May be another defensive midfielder.

Btw, How do people rate Pedro?

LeónDragón said...

...justin...if you ask me about my opinion on pedro...he has talent but does most times much, but at the end, little comes out...wish him to elevate his game, but til' now and maybe next future,he's no big help...seems to me too nervous and is not very precise with his passes or flanks...would love to see him finding his place to call another youth product our own at first team, but has a long way and needs many games to get experiance...but don't know if he gets them at barca, always competing at all competitions...he has some talent, let's see if he can use it...

KluivertsBoots said...

I think Moratti's face in the photo is his realization that Barca could feature a possible trident of Messi, Ibra and Ribery next season. The most skilled attacking players in the world at the moment on the same team possibly.

Wow.
