[2008] Barcelona could pay Sergio Garcia buyout fee

this post was published exactly one year ago:

Madrid sports tabloid Marca claims that Barcelona could pay next week the buyout fee of Zaragoza forward and Spanish international Sergio García (24) (read more here).

Future Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola would have contacted García over the last week to say he's counting on him for next season. The Barcelona youth product, who played last season regularly as right winger, would be delighted by this chance to return and will accept any concrete offer.

Zaragoza nevertheless says they don't need to sell players and point to the buyout clauses of their players. In the case of Sergio García, the buyout fee would be 20 million euro°. Barcelona sold the player three years ago to Zaragoza for 1,5 million euro°.

Catalan sports paper Sport meanwhile claims that Valencia signed a few weeks ago a deal with Zaragoza, giving Valencia the first option on Zaragoza players Sergio García and Alberto Zapater in case Zaragoza was relegated, something that has happened in the meanwhile. Garcia has also been linked to Atlético Madrid.

20 millions for Sergio Garcia ?

If that happens, Txiki and Laporta should hang up themselves.

Sold for a fee of 1,5 mio euros and now they'll buy him for a 20!? Are they crazy or what? The same thing may happen if they sell players like Assulin or Bojan or Giovani. As I said before they should focus on players like Van der Vaart, Alves or Huntelaar because it would be too late if they (Txiki&Laporta) miss them like they did last year with Torres or Ribery! Real already stick their nose and sniff around this players so gentlemen HURRY UP!

I believe Sergio Garcia was sold to Levante and not to Zaragoza.

Anyway, he isn't good enough to pay more than €5m for. I can't believe how this moron Txiki reason. He's prepared to sell a huge talent as Giovani for €8m and in the same time overpay for a player like Sergio Garcia. Resign today Txiki, please!

If my info is correct, Sergio García was first loaned out to Levante for one season (2004-2005) and was then sold to Zaragoza (summer 2005). If someone is sure that's not entirely corerct, let me know.
