British tabloid The Daily Mirror claims that Barcelona has made Arsenal midfielder and Spanish international Cesc Fàbregas (22) their priority target for the summer transfer market.
Barcelona would therefore be preparing a bid of 45 million euro° for the return of the Catalan player.
Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger might this time decide that, with a restructuring of his squad coming up and not much money to spend, this is an offer that's too good to turn down. Cesc was earlier this week quoted as unconfirmedly saying in an interview with Catalan radio station Ona Fm that every footballer dreams of playing for Barcelona.

Maldini is a one club man and he should be working in AC Milan after his retirement. Working in FC Barcelona would be against everything he is known for.
not entirely true iason, maldini and barca are quite close and the fans didn't give maldini and all to pleasant sending off.
45 mil for a cantera product, u got be kidding me. 23 million deal or no deal. 45 mil for a player who won't even start is considered a waste just like 17mil for cacecres.
I think he would start though. Iniesta plays on Henry's position like he has done alot this season and played brilliantly (neither injuries nor position seem to effect Iniesta, he always plays great) and Xavi, Cesc and Yaya in the middle. I dont believe the rumour though. Cesc is a La Masia product and we wont be paying crazy money for him because of it, as you say.
that might happen anon but iniesta said he likes playing midfield better and that's where barcelona usually shines. we need his great passing skills and dribbling in midfield, it frees up space for xavi. xavi and cesc are to close to play together just like dinho and kaka.
...except on the National Team??
nooo... please dont. we dont have space in midfield. as simple as tat. iniesta is awesome in the midfield and tats where he likes to play. if we need a central midfielder, then we can look at some other cheaper and upcoming player or even promote someone from the youth squad.
Better get Moutinho for 15 million. He's a similar player to Cesc, reminds me of Deco sometimes. And he wouldn't mind sitting on the bench over longer periods. 45 Million on the traitor are insane.
Strange why so many of you forget that alot of iniesta's greatest games have been on the wings.
xavi and cesc played together in the euro cup final remember? didnt turn out too bad.
...pique found his way back to barca and into the hearts of every cule...why not cesc too...also think,we would do him a favour, rescue him from playing in an average team under a boyloving, winey, grousing coach, always searching faults by refs or other coaches instead of realizing that the fault is him...who will never succeed and reach any in international football...playing,can't deny, sometimes nice football, but most time fruitless...can't take it anymore seeing him there...he should come back, where his home is...here at barca...
I'd love to have him back, but not for that money. It is crazy. If he already had the intention of coming back to Camp Nou, then why did he penned an extension of his contract with Arsenal?
Money is still important... sadly :-)
Cesc back too barca would be awesome, but I think it would send out the wrong signal to young players i barca. First Pique, then Cesc? All of the young future stars in barcelona will think that they can leave barca, and that barca will buyu them back.
What about Javi Martines for Atheltico B?? He is a young excellent prospect and wont cost more than 10-15 million. I think he has allot of promise. I believe he is also a Spanish under 20 International. Why hasn't anyone mentioned him in any of the posts?
Piqué is a different story altogether, he never wanted to leave. I think his grandfather was once vice-president of Barcelona and he had the feeling he was forced out because of politics. He always made it clear, even in Manchester, that Barça remained the club of his heart.
Cesc on the other hand moved because he thought he'd have more chances to play in Arsenal. Worst of all, he made his family move to London, which, according to the stupid Spanish law is simply like a change of residence, in which case Barcelona got nothing for everything they gave to him. Worst of all, he has stated repeatedly that he thinks he made the right move and did not even reject rumours of him joining Madrid - which would be the absolute minimum for a Barça player with dignity.
Now he has to live with his decision. He starts whining because Arsenal are not winning and now his great idol Pep is coaching Barça. I don't mind him being at Arsenal or somewhere else, and I wouldn't mind him joining us on a free, or a next to nothing sum. But spending 40M on him, never. It's a matter of principle.
45 m is just stupid for a back-up player,he will never be as good as Xavi or Iniesta...
