Report: Eto'o reaches agreement with Inter

Italian sports site 24 Ore Di Sport is reporting that Barcelona striker and Cameroonian international Samuel Eto'o (28) would have all but agreed to a 5 year contract with Inter Milan worth 10 million euro net excluding incentives.

The report also claims that only minor details of the contract are left to be worked out and that Eto'o would undergo a medical today or tomorrow before flying to the U.S. to join Inter Milan on their pre-season American tour.

Good luck, Samu. Thanks for your commitment on the pitch and for the instinct you provided in front of goal.

I think this is the right time to part company for both parties. I back Pep on this one. It isn't personal, but rather a matter of business. Such is reality.

Btw thank you site maintainers for the lightening quick news. Even sport or ED are yet to report and you guys have already posted in a blitz. I am vey lucky cule to have a barca blog spot like this :) thanks much.

wow i'm surprised this went so smoothly after all the back and forth shit. well good luck to eto in the scudetto race but in cl i hope you and other teams flop.

Keep in mind this is just one site's claims. Nothing's official yet.

Normally we'd wait for a bit more confirmation but with all the anticipation I decided to post it and let the readers judge the veracity of the report.

I have such mixed feelings about this. It's good news, but I can't help but feel sad at the same time.

Goodbye and good luck, Samu. Thanks for everything.

Thanks for everything Eto'o. Your heart and dedication will be sorely missed. It just show that it was never about the money. He will earn about the same as our new signing Zlatan. We have basically paid 80-90m euros for Zlatan when we consider the value we have lost in Eto'o. Zlatan has a huge burden on his shoulder, but I will support him even if I can never support the crazy transfer decisions that our board does.

Is 24 ore di sport a reliable news source?

Marc4barca said...

really and truly you don't put price tags on want away players in a trade deal. in barca eyes this deal isn't even worth 50mil.

awesome James, I get it :D. But kudos anyways for blitzing anticipatory news. Keep it up, we cules appreciate your efforts v much.

I hoppppeee ibraaa plays in the wembley cup coz i bought tickets !!!

Eto'o has always stated that he wanted to remain. It is Pep and our board that wants to get rid of him.

Don Luis said...

Barcelona will pay the fee in no time. Ibrahimovic is sponsored by Nike, since Ronaldinho left Barcelona doesn't have a strong marketing player from Nike.

Well, besides Rafael Marquez. He used to be marketed heavily in Latin America.

Someone Somewhere said...

Slovan if Etoo wanted to stay he would have agreed to a contract extension with acceptable demands. The fact that he throws fits every now and then and the fact that he doesn't want to extend tells a lot about a person's character. Now can you please stop this fucking nonsense...no matter how much you talk and post, Etoo is gone...and no cule is going to bash Barca just because Slovan thinks they should.

Now please go post on another fucking site...you're posts are making me hate Etoo more and more.

HE IS NOT MORE IMPORTANT THAN BARCA!!! GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEAD!!!!!!!

slovan said...

It has never been a money issue. Eto'o will earn about the same as Zlatan does. I guess you supported our management back in the days of Gaspart too, equating it with support for the club.

I find this difficult to believe considering Milan's financial trouble. And their refusal to even make a larger bid for Fabiano.

Keenanza said...

Jnice that's rubbish!!
He's for inter now.

Someone Somewhere said...

Slovan...it has always been about the money...he's a money hungry idiot and he knows he won't be scoring 30 goals anymore...So take your 'second coming' and go worship him somewhere else. ETOO is done...you can cry all you want but it won't bring him back and it won't convince people to be on his side...in fact it's his entourage of people like yourself who attack the club that are making fans hate him.

All clubs sell players...many clubs sell superstars....it's only idiot players that decide how they go out...does he truly want to be remembered or does he want to be forgotten as soon as he no longer is a Barca player.

The more you defend him the more I want him out lol!!

Anonymous said...

please don't say it isn't about the money. there are a 100 links on stories on how he refused to extend his contract. we don't want etoo anymore. ibrahimovic will more than fill in for him. etoo cries all the time if he isn't the main point of the team. he actually thinks he deserves to be paid as much as messi. hahahahahaha

slovan said...

That is nonsense. It is not about the money, it is purely an emotional and personal decision by our board and Pep. Don't try to equate that with the institution of the club which is much bigger than the personal relationships and emotions of certain members of our management.

You can be happy to support the hurt emotions of our management which forces the club to get rid of the most successful striker for us since Kubala in the 50s for a can of coke.

Anonymous said...

why do you accept it as nonsense when there are stories he won't sign an extension but you accept it as true fact that management is to blame? listen madridista go home. etoo is gone. and you will see what we will do your team this year when we have a striker that isn't hell bent on scoring every goal. etoo does not want us he is a horrible ungrateful person. we made him. noone knew him before barca then he does this? i am with pep. etoo must go. you can keep posting from now till the end of the year slovan, but everyone knows you are madridista. by the way that 94 million investment didn't play so well today. madrid sucks and will lose 5-0 in el classico. now take your etoo and go have a wet dream on him.

Anon sure is pissed off...maybe we now get some peace after the trade is done.Eto'o will be remembered as one of the greatest Barca strikers ever.

Can you guys stop bashing Slovan. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. You may disagree with his opinion, but bashing any person is unacceptable. Pep guardiola even admits at the press conference that he could be wrong in this decision, however it is his decision to make. You have to respect that.

Although I do feel like it is unproffesional to get rid of a player because he had a "feeling". I wish he would elaborate and be honest as to the reason why he had a "feeling" so that we the fans can understand his mentality. I'm sure once the transfer goes through Eto'o will say his peace and then Pep will respond, but back to the point I was trying to make. If you want your opinion to be respected keep in mind that you must respect the opinions of others.

I don't have a problem with people coming up with intellectual disagreements, but hate speech towards an idea just shows the level of immaturity that some of you guys have. No need to be disrespectful just disagree with what he says and provide information as to why you think his opinion is incorrect. I.E. slovan states we are trading eto for a can of coke. No we are trading a player in the last year of his contract that obviously has problems with Pep for another amazing striker. Granted the speculated numbers are a bit ridiculous, however those numbers range from 36-45 million euros. Keep in mind that these are speculated numbers, and probably shouldn't waste your breath on speculation.

You also have to realize that we are getting information from sources that thrive on selling papers or thrive on the number of hits their website gets (that includes this blog). Luckily PeP has set the standard of sorting out the rubbish from the Trush. In conclusion, respect the opinions of others because one day you could be the person on the opposite end of the hate speech.

heard this rumor where milan are ready to offer 12million that he is demanding....

does anyone know what will happen if eto'o does a u-turn and joins milan instead of inter... i mean will we still get ibra?? i mean i hope we dont end up in a situation where we let go of eto'o and ibra.. now that david villa door seems to be closed firmly..

Je me'appelle Samuel said...

@pd... First I would say where did you here the rumor? Then evaluate the source from which you got it. I'm assuming you mean the report goal.com has made. You should be aware they were the first ones to report that we signed david villa. Second it seems they have many writers who write conflicting reports.

Well I have another rumor. Ibra is flying to barcelona in the morning to put pen to paper.

dude all i am saying is that i dont want such a situation to happen...
but if the rogue agent of eto'o decides to have negotiations with milan then barca cant do anything...

see if something like that happens it will put barca in a very tricky position... and yes goal.com is a website that one can never trust... instead of saying the writers write conflicting reports sometimes i wonder if there writes get creative....

the point is pep want eto'o to leave.... and i hope we get ibra... and i also hope this stays the same way... and i dont want milan or eto'o s agent to screw this agreement up..

Don Luis said...

Milan could sign Eto'o?
WTF!

If we sell Eto'o to Milan then we can buy Villa. But if Milan cant afford Fabiano how will they afford eto'o?

Je me'appelle Samuel said...

Well lets see what happens. I'm here in the U.S. so hopefully when I wake up tomorrow morning this will all be sorted out.

Athul said...

@Slovan
Please shut the fu$% up.

We've had enough of your blah blah making Eto'o a saint. The fact remains that he refused contract extensions since last year. His character on and off the field have been anything but what one would expect from a Barca player, constantly bringing up names of team mates, trying to satisfy his ego.Its clear that he is jealous towards Messi and has taken potshots at him.Despite a historic season,Eto'o has caused issues whenever possible.I can only imagine what he'll cause if next season does not go as planned. You may say that Ibra does have his own ego problems but then he is willing to take a pay cut which will earn him lesser than Messi. He even commented on playing alongside Messi.A good initial gesture and a sign of things to come?Hopefully

Pep had to live with his attitude for one season. Its clear that he doesn't want the controversial nature of Eto'o to affect the entire squad.

Eto'o wants to be the richest player in the world. He probably gets a chance to be among top 3 by going to Inter. We get a player with a difference that may be crucial in breaking buses. We aren't taking any multi-million loan to fund the transfer and also the extra revenue which Zlatan would bring will be welcome.

A vast majority of the club fans are happy with the deal. Some may oppose the apparent fee involved but do not question the impact Ibra can make.

Now if you are so pissed off with the club for selling Eto'o why don't you rather quit being a Barca fan?Have had enough of your criticisms on the transfer move in whichever news that is being posted here.Go support Madrid/Inter or whichever club if you are so mad at the club management and coach.

Just because he's 'praising' Madrid for their ability to negotiate such high fees when they're selling players they obviously do not need doesn't make him a a Madrista. I think you're treating him unfairly.

I for one am also quite impressed with the way they take care of player sales in our rival club, not so impressed by the way they're purchasing them though.. And as far as I know I am not a Madrista.

Hi guys
Firstly stop Bashing ppl because of their opinions this is a blog!
I wanted Eto to leave for various reasons, however I dont think Pep is being honest
By saying its a feeling and nothing more, Yes Eto scores goals but sometimes he is out of the game
He is a good opertunist and in truth if he didnt score in the CL final I wudnt have this slightly sour
taste at Pep just coming out saying he must leave. Eto will not score as many goals Elsewhere
Im gratefull for all he has done, but as soon as the season ended he wanted to leave and requested
permission from the Club to speak to other clubs, Also he has openly admitted his heart is with another club.

Trust in Pep, we have absolutely no reason to doubt him.
I dont for one minute believe this is based on a feeling though, I think he is protecting Eto.
When Ronaldinho left I felt exactly the same way! Eto asked Pep for one more season and he got it.
He can leave with his head held high. Good Luck Eto!

Stay Calm my fellow Cules
Visca el Barca!

Please check the statistics between etoo and ibra. Etoo is Much better last Season And over all. I tryed hard to understand the logic behind This decision.Pep guardiloa want's etto to Leave. he said "“Without him we wouldn’t have done what we did last year. There are no football or personal or behaviour issues here. It’s just a feeling I have. I think there is a need for change. Maybe I’m wrong but it’s my responsibility and decision”. this is not a good answer from pep. I think it's more than that . I trust pep guardiola alot I trusted him well the day he took over . he could have got mascerano for this amount of money or any Dm ! I still think etoo is a better Striker and you can say that Spanish League is much more open .and Ibra creates for him self I won't belive anything until I see for my self. I hope to god That this a good move . Because we are letting go the best Stiker in the world check his statistics compared to others ! you will see how etto is good ! he deserves a better Contract Like all the other Barcelona Players ! !

Ok but DOES Ibra have a Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Henry, Alves, Bojan, Busquets to give him great passes/ crosses?

No.

Who did Inter have last season?
Cambiasso, Mancini, Zanetti, and Maicon.

Are those players playmakers like the Barca ones? No.
