Torres is better than Ibra but out of reach.BTW,I'm not declaring a war here against Ibra-fans

Torres wouldn't fit that good in our system, I think. He's perfect for Benitez' game plan and for the EPL.

I am a die hard Barca fan and Messi is right now the best player in the world but Ibra is not the best no9, it's Torres. YNWA...

liverpool's number 9!lalalallaallalalal TORRES

YNWA = You'll Never Win Again. Sad to see torres in livershit instead of playing in La Liga. Torres is one of my fav players and I believe he is 3rd best striker behind eto'o and ibra.

remember torres was mediocre in la liga. he didnt flourish until he went to no defense epl. villa has a way better scoring record for spain than torres

D luis what are you saying. Torres is an amazing striker. Better than Eto and Ibra. Younger than both, better technical player, better in the air. I love Barca so I know Eto and I follow Liv in England so I know how Torres plays. The kid is gifted, look at some of the goals he has scored, he just creates them out of nothing, if he played for Barca he would score at least 40 goals a season and he would be the best signing Barca ever made... if ever....

alexxx666 said...

@ Anon he did not score much for many reasons in laliga. first he was still young and just starting 2nd he ws captain at very young age which puts extra pressure on a young kid and 3rd the team they built around him at ath was not too great.

Torres became a goal machine in Liverpool because Benitez' games plan leaves him a lot of space (something he would never have at Barça's 4-3-3 against parked busses) and because most EPL managers haven't a clue about defending. If he proves himself at a real top team, then you can call him "best striker" but he didn't yet prove enough for that.

alexxx666 said...

@refter while I agree with you that Torres wouldn't fit into a 4-3-3 he does play for a big team ie no2 in epl. Also he scores time in time again against "parked buses" in the EPL> The kid scored 3 goal in 17mins and the winning goal at the final of the Euros for Spain. I dont know what else you call top team.

alexxx666,i agree with you.

Torres might or might not be the best, but for all the reasons you've mentioned Ibrahimovic is better, he creates from nothing and against the REAL Italian defenses, shoots from distance and great header of the ball, again, against much discipline defensive lines of the Calcio. besides, to tell the truth he might not be the best pure no.9 as scoring rates go, but I can't find anyone with such immense technical ability in his position. and he uses his body very well, you can see him taking 3 players by nothing but his physical power. and he is a much better passer than most forwards too. but on the other hand, he doesn't possess the speed of the likes of Villa, Torres and Eto'o which would benefit CF with a team like Barcelona who will send him many through passes that needs pace to control. it should be an interesting season.

i hate liverpool but have to admit torres is the best no 9 at the moment. to say the EPL dont know how to defend is ridiculous, they are the best defensive league, we are the best attacking league. and i'd rate liverpool as a bigger team than inter so ibra has been playng for a smaller team in a weaker league. torres is as suited to our system as ibra is, if not more as he has got pace as well as technique, long range shot, aerial ability
be honest if you could have any striker in barca who would it be? for me its torres all the way.

The defenders (and the goalkeepers!) of three quarters of the EPL teams are a joke. We'll see how Cristiano Ronaldo will do next season. His childish step-overs won't be enough to get past the Liga defenders.

It's all about personal opinions. For me, Torres would be a flop at Barca, for you, it would be a hit.

fair enough. i agree about ronaldo as every player does step overs in spain so it wont phaze them as it did the EPL defenders, also he wont have the space behind the line to run into, nulifying his biggest threat - his pace. we can but hope. as for torres we'll probably never know.

as i have said b4 i think the best strikers in the world are 1. ibra 2. torres 3. villa. torres is great but hes definitely not technically better than ibra in any way that i can pinpoint and all that he really has over villa is pace. eto'o is in my top 5 but hes not better than either of the guys above
my top 5
ibra torres villa eto'o drogba

I do believe that Torres has a better scoring ability inside the area but not that much than Ibra who has scored goals from impossible angels, but Torres is definitely more agile, but again for Ibra's huge body, he is pretty much fast, but that faster Torres run may be more crucial with Barcelona in long through balls. but again Ibra can take the ball under his feet and run towards a defender, fouling him is not easy, let alone that any predictable move by the defender means he will get past him with his vast amount of trickery. anyway we are lucky that we are replacing one of the best strikers with one of the best strikers too, and we know that another one of the best strikers wants to play for us (Villa) and I believe that the main reason behind that is our unprecedented creative force. and even if Torres was the best striker in the world I would settle for Ibra. man, we are spoiled.

Are wqe starting a new war here about torres and Ibra and however. Torres cannot be even mentioned along the likes of eto'o uless he has done even half of what eto'o has achieved full stop. Now whether torres can be a quality player remains to be seen when he is at a real big club (and liverpool are not, only in england maybe)...and yes they won 5 european cups but ask any world class players if they'd move to liverpool or barca or milan and liverpool will be the first one out thats for sure.

no it is definitely not a war. just a normal conversation in a football blog.
Liverpool has just won a CL a couple of years ago and another one's finalist. they are a pretty good team, but not by any mean comparable to the likes of Barca and Manchester.

I'm sorry, I don't agree with those who think Torres is the best number 9 in the world. David Villa is. He is consistent, persistent and he's fatal. He can create and destroy. create as in create goals and destroy as in destroy keepers.

My top 5 Strikers in the world:
1. David Villa (pure breed striker)
2. Fernando Torres (deadly)
Zlatan Ibrahimovic (improvises and surprises)
4. Samuel Eto'o (fast, powerful and accurate shot)
5. Didier Drogba (He strikes like he went to the navy)

AJ said...

lol saying Torres is the best no 9 is like saying Ronaldo is the best winger/player in the world as opposed to Messi.

Yes, Torres is deadly, he has always been. How many goals has he scored against us. Yes, he is fast, has a monster shot, bla bla bla. But what we are seeing now is him scoring against EPL opposition which even according to him, can't defend for shits.

Torres has to prove himself first instead of revelling in hype by people that don't know football (most EPL heads)

IMO Eto'o & Villa >>> Torres & Ibra

though i have to say Ibra seems to be the most technically gifted among the 4..

Iason said...

Fernando Torres does not have a very powerful shot at all. He almost never scores from distance and when he does, its all precision and no power. The furthest he can score from is maybe 25 yards.
