Guardiola about the incoming transfers

At a press conference, Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola talked today about the incoming transfers.

Henrique
He's here to stay. He'll help us a lot. He has adapted well at Bayer Leverkusen and played a lot. I've heard good things about him and we'll see how he fits into the squad.

Maxwell
He's been at the top for years. He's played at Ajax and Inter and he'll bring us a lot.

Keirrison
He's very young and has very good stats. Scoring isn't easy. The club has decided to get him but in principle that's to send him out on loan and he's not in my plans for this season.

Ibrahimovic
He's still an Inter player. We cannot have him and Eto'o. We're rich, but not that rich. It won’t happen. You don't want too many players in key positions and both of them are starters.

Ribéry
I think it's impossible to sign him. He won't come, firstly because Bayern won't let him and secondly because his agent wants him to go elsewhere.”

Villa
I spoke to him.

In regards to villa... I recall the quote "We will be waiting" if not this summer than January, if not January then Next Summer.

djoef said...

He'll be 29 by then, will we spend big on a 29 years old? I would say: sell Henry this summer to Arsenal and get Villa. Messi-Zlatan-Villa: perfect!

"spoke to him"??????????????what are you talking about?sign him. That's like an obvious answer for the squad next year if we are talking about scoring so much again.

TengkuAmir10 said...

djoef.

Can you give barca that kind of money?if you can then do it now.

djoef said...

If they had 70-80, they must have still enough to make this work.

skanjos said...

dont like the answer for keirrison, even if we get ibra and sell eto we still want another striker and keirrison would fit as a 2nd choice after ibra.from what guardiola is saying i think we will either move for forlan too or he will trust bojan and henry more as strikers, cause imagine if ibra gets injured (hits wood)would we stay only with henry and bojan as strikers?

Sigh inter are saying they are now beginning negotiations with etoo tmrw. Looks like it could be a while again before any deal is done

barca4life said...

The keirrison thing is what i was saying, we wont throw somebody that has never played in europe into the deep end. Thats why imo we wont sign hernanes.

It does raise the question though that if keirrison isnt staying

Zlatan/Etoo Messi Henry Bojan ?

who else Jeffren? Gai? Our front line looks thin again.

fcbee said...

Even thinner with Hleb away. Not that he did much, but anyway.

Guardiola said about Keirrison "that's a club matter", as if he didn't have anything to do with it. There's a bad smell to it. Other sources say that Keirrison was offered to Atlético for 6 millions last january but that they rejected.

Hymou said...

Seems like we buy players that Pep don't want for some reason. What is the deal with this "Palmeiras partnership"? Is it money-laundering with Palmeiras we are doing? Why do we buy players that Pep don't ask for? Was it the case with Caceres too? After all, right from the start Pep didn't like him at all, yet we paid 16.5m for him.

hymou said...

fcbee, "that's a club matter" is certainly very smelly. We should stop this partnership with Palmeiras immediately. And there is a reason why other clubs haven't been into Keirrison like Pato or Robinho.

Acclure said...

barca4life: We threw Hleb and Caceres out on the deep end last season, and they had one of the worst seasons in a Barcelona jersey ever.

Anonymous said...

Caceres had already played well in La Liga. And Hleb was excellent on 2 separate European sides. They should have been ready to play on Barca. Hleb was 28!

Acclure said...

It just goes to show that what matters is not whether or not you have played in Europe that counts, but whether the player fit the style of play and have the right qualities to perform for Barcelona. Playing in a defensive Recreativo or in the PL with the far more direct Arsenal is very different from playing for Barcelona.

barca4life said...

Uhm i said players that didnt have european experience. Hleb and Caceres both had european experience in the EPL and La Liga respectively

Acclure said...

What matters is Barcelona experience, or Barcelona-style experience, like Ajax. This is the lesson that should be learned from the very bad deals with several "european experienced" players.

barca4life said...

Ok which south american team has "Barca-style experience" not only in terms of playing style but in terms of climate and quality of opposition?

Acclure said...

Never buy a defender from Serie A ever.

Acclure said...

No team in the world has the exact playing style as Barcelona, not even Ajax, but Ajax is the closest and when we buy players, we need to focus on whether he has the style and the right qualities to perform in the role which we demand of him, which should be similar to the role he has played in other teams. It is not enough to say that just because he can play as a defender in Recreativo, he is a better option for us than a defender with great passing and technique who plays regularly for Brazil but play in the Brazilian league.

tero said...

It's a damn shame that we don't see Keirrison in Barca jersey yet,I just wonder where he goes on loan? Valencia is probably out of question because we tried to include Keirrison in Villa deal

Zeebarca said...

Is it just me or is inter getting a top notch striker like eto'o for free in this 48 million euro transfer. I could see us paying that much for ibra but shouldn't they be throwing at least 20-25 mil for eto'o our way. And I can understand peps argument of complacency setting in the squad and us needing fresh blood but barca is gettin ripped off on this deal.

Anonymous said...

henrique also came from palmeiras, and i doubt that there is any dispute that he is at least a good defender, so why do people have such a problem with keirrison?

barca4life said...

Zeebarca etoo can leave for free in 1 year hence his selling value is very low. Thats why we need to pay so much to inter

Anonymous said...

I think Zeebarca knows this, hence he set the price at 20-25m even with one year left. If Eto'o didn't have 1 year left, Zeebarca would have valued him at 50m. After all, Eto'o is in his prime, and having just had one of the best seasons in Spanish football history with 36 goals in all competitions and three titles including the decisive goal in the CL final.

Keirrison will never be ready for Barcelona!

@hymou...

You say that there is a reason why other clubs haven't been into Keirrison like Pato or Robinho, can you please tell us what is it because I am craving to know...

I think Keirrison has done alot more and single handedly too than Pato and Robinho at the time they signed for Milan and Madrid respectively. The amount of goals he scored for Cortiba and Palmeiras is amazing considering he is 20. I have seen Pato play for Milan many times in hard games and also for Brazil and he has made some dreadful attempts and misses.

I think that Keirrison should be part of our super thin squad because this is going to be a very long and hard season with us competeing in 6 competitions, plus we were lucky not to have many injuries last time round and we might not be as lucky this season. The front players would need alot more rest even at the beginging of the because this season the fixtures will be congested due to the wrold cup...and you have to also look at the possible Madrid bench which will have depth. Keirrison will do well, we should use him for the Group stage of the Champions League (the easier games), the Copa Del Rey and also in games which we are winning comfortably in the League, the front players will need more rest and we all know we can just rely on Bojan, the more they rest the sharper they will be for the upcoming games and the same for the other positions.

No other club could sign Keirrison even if they wanted because of the clause in his contract so I doubt Atletico were offered the chance to sign him for 6 million in January because his contract had a buyout clause of 30 million should any other club other than Barca wanted him...

Sanur said...

You have seen Pato miss some chances?? Oh, man, then you haven't seen anything of Keirrison. But the worst is his non-existant work rate. And Pato can actually create chances by himself, something Keirrison can't.

Anonymous said...

i'm a bit afraid of the limited time barca have for a good transfer.
if eto'o makes problems working out the deal and goes to any other club Barca have talked weeks to villa and ibra but got no new no.9 :-(

come on guys, after the last year I think nearly every player loves to play at camp nou next season?!

Anonymous said...

this IBRACADABRA deal is a crazy deal, how can we add 45 millions plus etoo to get ibra..its such a waste of money and a big risk to put arround 7O millions for only one man,if we keep etoo we can use this cash to bolster other positions unless laporta is willing to land money from the bank like madrid

I HOPE ETOO WONT FIND AN AGREEMENT WITH INTER I PREFER HE PLAYS ONE MORE YEAR AND LEAVE FOR 0 EUROS NEXT YEAR

Bruno alves is no longer available but manc has successfully unsettled terry maybe we can swoop in with the 30 million bid we were going to spend on bruno and land terry, i don't see why terry won't make the move if offered and Chelsea agreed.

Yes Keirrison has missed chances too but compare the golscoring ratio to Patos then that also plays a part...Pato can create yes but keirrison can't?....I don't buy this, you proably watch all the clips of him from the internet you should watch the Brazilian Serie A on satellite then maybe you will see more of him....and non existent work rate...well when you have a coach like Pep that should be corrected easily

jazzy said...

Keirrison is like the cantera we didnt nurture directly.. he is just born w/ the cule blood.. :D
hope he does well in his loan and pep can count on him next season. next year we will have (hopefully)Ibra, keirrison, henry(if he stays), and Rochina (if we dont loan him) for CF. hopefully the "I've talked to Villa" by pep is that we will sign him next year :D

Hymou said...

Sanur: Are you seriously comparing the quality of Robinho and Pato to Keirrison? Keirrison isn't even near a place in the Brazil squad despite Brazil having a serious lack of a number 9.

Tell me which game Keirrison has created chances for himself? His passing is simply awful, he never combine with his team mates. He is lazy and thinks he is some sort of superstar, yet he has barely any skills besides his positioning. He is going to be a huge disappointment for whoever thinks he is good enough to play for Barcelona.

If you haven't watched him play, you should not participate in the discussion. Even many Palmeiras fans are happy to see him go. That we are buying him, shows that our management still don't understand what this team needs.

Hymou said...

Judging from Pep's comments about Keirrison, it doesn't seem like Pep really wanted Keirrison, and it was all just done by the board for whatever reason!

Unknown said...

Well Pep never wanted Eto'o last season and look what he did...remember despite what pep has achieved in his very short time as coach....he still has alot of things to learn and one of them will be to identify and create superstars he hasn't done that, so far he hasn't groomed a top notch talent...yes his spent time at barca athletic but thats completely different from doing things on the main stage.

Marc4barca said...

sanur pep was coach of the youth team i'm sure he knows how to identify and create talent, wasn't pep who claimed iniesta would become the player he is today and he also said xavi would replace him and both were correct, i think pep clearly knows what he is doing. he has done a good job protetcing messi as well the problem i really see with pep is the substitutions, he hardly uses the substitutes and when he does it's not really good decision, i hope he will do better next time.

We dont need another DM for Jan-Feb if we have SERGI BUSQUETS!!! Kid is amazing!!!

But I guess we should have kept Xavi Torres instead of offloading him to Malaga...
