Italian sports paper La Gazzetta dell Sport claims that the negotiations between Eto'o and Barcelona about the exit bonus are the last step before finalizing of the transfer, after the striker yesterday agreed a deal with Inter Milan (read more here).
The player's agent Josep Maria Mesalles would be in Barcelona today to hold talks with Barcelona officials on the exit bonus the Cameroonian striker will receive. The player would be asking for 3 to 4 million euro.
Eto'o, who will reportedly sign a five-year contract worth 10 million euro plus an incentive of 2 million euro for every trophy won by the Italian club, is quoted by the paper as telling Inter sports director Marco Branca yesterday afternoon by phone that he wants to tie his bonuses to team achievements:
"Chief, I am delighted to join Inter, and I'm convinced that we can bring the Champions League to Milan. I don't want bonuses linked with the goals I score. Scoring is my job, and that's what I'm already paid for. Bonuses linked with team successes, like the Champions, is the right way to go. And with this team we can win everything."

Awww cmon! This has been dragging on for ages now! I just want to see the 'OFFICIAL'! Then I can sleep easy :P Until then, anything can happen!
Seriously, he had done a lot for the club, but I would keep him on the tribune a whole season in stead of paying him to leave now.
I'm sure Zlatan and his agent will get a lot more than 3-4 million so stop whining and get over it! It's not as if it's your money...
ibra fractured hand? if true what does this mean about the transfer? how long are players out for that kind of injury?
Not long, they usually can continue to play with a brace.
fcbee - it's less money for the club to use on transfers so it matters. if we have less money to sign other players yers you will whine so don't talk about other people.
counteroffer to eto'o - 0 or sit on the bench, you have a contract.
Eto Greedy? I am waiting for his bashers..
Anon. do you undertsand at all? This is ETOs MONEY we are talking about.
I didnt see anyone asnwer my question yesterday.
If Bill Gates has £1000 form you and knows if he asks, he would get it, do you think he would leave it with you?
i said yesterday that the exit bonus would be between 1-6mil ,its normal. also if inter gets the cl and eto the goal boot next year i think the eto bashers will become inter fans and ask for eto to be sold......
how is it his money? he doesn't have leverage. his only leverage is to stay and leave for free, if barcelona has to pay for him to leave then they might as well just pay for his salary and let him sit on the bench.
and don't try to make a big deal about him tying his bonuses to winning trophies.
inter wanted to give him 9 + bonuses. eto'o rejected the performance bonuses that's the only reason inter went up to 10. otherwise inter would have stopped at 9.5 + 1.
Anony: maybe you can ask Zlatan and his agent to drop their part of the 50 millions fee first. That would make more of a difference I'm sure...
Players have the RIGHT to get a part of the transfer fee.
Yeah, you were there when they discussed things...
NouBarca, as much as i agree with you that Eto'o's been bashed too much. You must realize this could be as false as the next thing..or it could be true.
Eto'o did good for us, scored loads of goals and it's a pitty Pep doesn't want him (he'll have his reasons, maybe he's a racist ;-)). Don't like how the board & pep played this last weeks, don't like how sam and/or his agent played it.. But things happen and one thing leads to another.
About the money: if it really is 50 mill, it's a bit too much (i love they'll sign zlatan though, imo(!) better than villa)and i don't like the farewell-bonus. Even if it's normal in the transferworld, i don't think it should be normal..
that's what the italian media are reporting for the rumors. you don't know what happened either so what's your point.
" Eto'o asked for 12 million. Inter offered 8.5 million plus goal bonuses and CL bonuses.
Eto'o asked for goal bonuses to be cancelled, in favor of a higher salary (10 million). If we get CL, his original request of 12 mil will be achieved."
That's called NEGOTIATIONS. What's your problem? It's about Inter and Eto'o, none of our business.
i'm not bashing eto'o. eto'o is a great striker. i'm just not in favor of the club wasting money.
if eto'o isn't willing to be included in the swap. then we should just forget the swap and go for a different striker. because we're paying 50 + eto'o's release fee. that's too much.
You forget Zlatan's release fee...
what does that have to do with it? i know it's negotiations.
you want to make it seem like eto'o is doing inter a favor/paycut. in reality it was just a way to negotiate a number both sides are happy with.
Ok, Thank God we are coming to a rare aggrement here. It might not be a good rule for players to have that right, until the rule changes, let tehm (not just Eto) get their full money.
And I dont believe in that consp.theory that Pep might be "racist". He is not. he has Yaya, Keita, Henry, Abidal. I am sure its for other reasons. But he knows whats best for all.
So just let show Sammu a bit of respect and remember him for the good rather than the Bad and same for the Board. I chose to remember people for the Good rather than the Bad. thats why I was "upset" when folks started calling Eto all sorts of names. Lets shake HANDS on this and smash the evil empire (MAD-rid)
1 love still
I do'nt do anything, I just say that a) we don't know what is happening, b) parties are negotiating and that's the way it always goes and c) it's none of our business anyway.
I can accept the stated amount for his exit bonus. As some said, if a person's contract gets terminated by his/her employer, by law, he must be paid a compensation i.e some kind of severance payment. 3-4mil is I'm sure acceptable to Laporta and co. as opposed to the rumoured 15mil some said on earlier forum.
As for the 50mil for Ibra, lets just wait for the official announcement. It may be lower than rumoured by Italian press.
here's why i don't think he deserves a big bonus.
the exit bonus is based on the transfer fee the club receives. it's not like the club pays anybody who leaves. we paid for eto'o and also allowed him to shine on our team, so we deserve a transfer fee, and eto'o deserves a portion of that.
in an ideal world we would get a 30 million transfer fee and give eto'o 10-15% of that. (3-4 mil) but eto'o demanded 15 million from the 30 million man city offer and rejected them.
so we're forced to use eto'o in a swap deal that we're not getting any transfer fee from. and the 'value' eto'o is being transfered for is impossible to calculate. it could be as little as 10-15 million worth of value if we're already paying 50 million cash to inter. that means we're pretty much giving eto'o for free.
we're not paying him a termination clause like in a regular job. we're transferring him, he doesn't have to look for a new job, we already found him a job with equal/better salary.
he shouldn't get a bonus for a 30 million transfer when we're not getting 30 million for him.
You're acting ridiculous, Anony. In your anti-Eto'o hate, you would put aside fundamental rights of every human being.
You don't have anything to say about it anyway. You think the negotiators will listen to you? Get a life. Eto'o's exit bonus will be more than you'll ever earn in your whole life. Live with it.
BARça is on the point to do the worst transfer deal of his history: 45 millions is too much,45 millions plus hleb is too much, 45 millions plus hleb plus etoo is toooooooo much, and we should also give etoo an exit bonus, THIS IS CRAZY all that for IBRACADABRA , idont know how he will hundle the pressure caused by all what barça is paying for him.
HOSNI
how is that anti-eto'o hate?
you keep claiming he deserves an exit bonus (which is always a portion fo the transfer fee. he refused to be sold for any transfer fee, we're not gettign any fee. why would he get a big exit fee?
eto'o already made more than me in my whole life the first year he played at barcelona, what does that have to do with it? he also makes more than you so what's your point? your'e so childish.
please become an inter fan because it seems like all you want is for eto'o to screw over the club.
him getting an exit bonus that he doesn't deserve after he REJECTED transfer fees that barcelona redceived is not a 'fundamental human right'. being able to eat is a 'fundamental human right'
I'm not complaining about his fee.
He didn't refused to be sold, he's accepting to be sold to Inter now after the club wanted him out.
We're not getting any fee? You think we would have had Ibra for 50 after Kaka, who hasn't done anything over the last two years, went to Madrid for 65? Ri-di-cu-lous. Anti-Eto'o rage affects the brain, that's clear.
Anyway, whatever you say: Eto'o will get the bonus he's entitled to both as part of the transfer fee and as compensation for Barça throwing him out.
I GOT 650 euros when i left my last job, my agent got 40 euros for the transaction and my new employer took a credit to pay the stamps for the new contract . i could leave following the fifa laws as i was in my last year of contract but my last employer was a friend of my uncle i couldnt leave as a thief.
FRIKA
IM SAD FOR ETOO instead of leaving as legend his agent is asking money from everyone and for anything, he is being killing the love of his fans with this behavior
kaka is worth more than ibra, kaka has ballon d'or, champion's league, world cup, kaka's younger, more marketable.
ibra's worth 60 million at the most.
if we pay 50 million + 5 million exit fee. then we only got 10 million worth of transfer fee and gave eto'o half of it? exit fees are 10% - 15% of the transfer fee.
your brain is effected, not mine.
True fans will always be grateful for the incredible things he gave to the club.
Ibra 60? Your just doing anything to prove that Eto'o is worth nothing. Like someone said yesterday: maybe you can say that Eto'o is actually worth minus 50, so you can say we got Zlatan for free.
Moratti said before he was worth as much as Cristiano. With the 50 cash, 30 for Eto', 7 for Hleb, we're coming close...
Again, whatever you in say: he'll get the bonus he's entitled to, so stop whining. Be happy the player you hate is finally gone.
Eto'o is getting an 'Exit Bonus' mainly because the club requested he leave. He did not hand in a transfer request hence he should be entitled to a good bonus.
Here is another way of looking at it. You have worked for a company for 'x' amount of years. The company wants you to leave so they offer you a redundency. This happens all the time and in senior positions it is often referred to as a 'Golden Handshake'. It is not uncommon for senior executives to be paid millions to leave a company.
Eto'o deserves what he gets. He has been fanstastic for us. No one can doubt his commitment. Yes, he may be opionionated but he has worked very, very hard for the team.
I wish him well :-)
you just said kaka got sold for 65. i gave you 5 reasons why kaka is worth more than ibra. who cares what moratti says? what's he supposed to say, ibra is only worth 5 euros?
ibra is worth less than kaka.
you're using bs calculations from bs.com. stop pretending to be a barca fan madridista.
you hate barca, i don't hate eto'o.
football transfers are not the same as corporate employment. eto'o didn't serve us for 30 years.
if it worked like you said then we would be paying sylvinho an exit bonus for his service to the club.
this is different, we only have 1 more year of contract for eto'o. if he left next year does he deserve a golden handshake bonus? no, he would just get his salary and then leave for free. we have that alternative.
"Ibra is worth less than Kaka": only that statement makes everything you say worthless. Did you see any of them play over the past two seasons? Guess not. Kaka must be the most overrated player around.
I love Barça, that's why I'm sad to see how they treat their legends, who I also love (contrary to you).
Sylvinho's contract expired, that's a different case.
There are two reasons why an exit bonus is totally justified here:
1. part of the transfer fee
2. being forced to leave before the end of the contract
because i dont' think eto'o deserves a big payoff just to leave the club i hate our legends?
if eto'o helped the club by getting a 30 million transfer fee i would be all for him getting 4-5 million, his portion that he deserves.
he forced barca to swap him for very little value with his salary demands and reluctance to accept an exit. he deserves a smaller bonus. what part of that is illogical?
barca gets more money = eto'o deserves more of the bonus. eto'o dictated barca get less money = eto'o gets less bonus.
Anony: "if he left next year does he deserve a golden handshake bonus?"
No, but then he would get a signing bonus from his new team. Like Saviola got from Real madrid and like Van Bommel got from us in 2005.
saviola got teh bonus because he gave up half of his wages, real madrid was basically jsut paying back his other half of the wage.s
eto'o is getting higher wages. i agree eto'o deserves a portion of the transfer fee, but the transfer fee is almost nil, he doesn't dserve a bonus as if the trnasfer fee is 30 million (he rejcted it)
eto'o's contract also expires, we should let it if we have to pay him 5 million to leave.
You're on your anti-Eto'o planet, that apparently has its own logic. We'll leave you there while we'll watch Eto'o getting his well-deserved bonus. Not as much as Zlatan's bonus, but still.
you're on your anti-club planet, which has no logic so whatever.
I'm on my pro-club/pro-legends planet, which is the right place to be.
Leave the personal picking, guys.
lol.. aint this funny? One thing is sure, Eto would get the bonus. Let them iron out how much it is. Imagine "fcbuy" was Etos agent and "Anon" was barca, the deal would collapse 100%.
Take it easy guys and please come back to planet earth. I would miss you both if you remain on your "new found planets" lol..
We all love Barca and no need to "fight"
People, we always wander what "details" in a contract may be.. Well, these things are..
Not the salary and possible trophee-bonus, but all these strange things we almost never hear about, unless there's some disagreement. We can read the salary and bonus on every site when a deal is done, but these kinda things never come out, because they don't seem that important. But now you see..
forget that. just buy a different striker and sit him on the bench. he can have his salary and then go to the club he wants with the bonus he deserves.
that way we don't have to hear about this 'we're taking away his human rights' garbage.
fcbuy how come you don't mention how we're helping him facilitate a good exit this year?
we COULD just let him backup our new striker then he'll get teh bonus he wants next year.
i dont know what to say woarst deal in history
I'm sure Eto'o wouldn't have problems with that. But I'll guess then you would change you stands and say "oh, he's only staying because he wants to leave for free and get a big bonus next year. See? He's greedy!" For the Eto'o haters he'll always be greedy, whatever he does.
i wouldn't have a problem with him doing that if the altnerative is for him to get a big payoff.
i t hink eto'o would make a big stink about how much he plays though. shouldn't the club get to play him as they see fit and not expect locker room problems?
Anon you clearly know nothing about Corporate life. Most Senior Executives, CEO, CFO in leading companies are on a CONTRACT. This is usually a fixed term contract over 3-5 years with bonuses and incentives for performance etc.
Like in football if they see out their contracts without renewing (Sylvinio) they can usually negoatiate with other companies. If they are forced out, they usually get paid the remainder of the contract plus exit bonuses.
A perfect example was here in Australia when the CEO of our largest Telecom company was requested to leave before his contract term ended. He was on a 5 year contract and left after 4. He was given a golden handshake of about $10 million and other bonuses for various aspects of his job to leave.
In my line of work this is not uncommon. Senior Executives are paid on a different scale and are on different contracts to all other staff. They are not under the Awards and aggrements covered under state or federal legistation to protect lower paid workers. They are usually individually negotiated with solicitors with many incentives and exit clauses.
I am happy to give you a lesson in capitalism anytime :-)
blow it and bench eto'o!
Dont f*** with Barcelona that way!
Anony is just a Madrid fan frustrated about how they let Eto'o slip away and he gave us the most succesfull era of our history and win the treble something madrid has never done and he now tries to set Barça fans up against him...
first of all, i understand corporate buyouts. they happen in a lot of different sports.
but WE"RE NOT BUYING OUT ETO"O"S CONTRACT. WE"RE TRANSFERRING HIM.
we're facilitating eto'o's exit a year early. he gets to go earn his higher salary a year early, and not wait a year sitting on the bench. eto'o is getting a benefit from teh transfer as well.
the transfer bonus is NOT A BUYOUT. we're not talking about the same thing. the transfer bonus is a portion of the transfer fee the player is entitled to.
He'll laugh all the way to the bank on the bench... You'll think that will hurt him? He has shown last year what an incredible character he has. After being benched throughout the whole pre-season, he came back stronger than ever.
you're right, he could do that, that's his right. i would prefer he do that if we have to pay 50 million + a big exit bonus.
as long as he doesn't cause problems with his pouting and create locker room problems i think he should do that. then go get what he wants next year.
Who says we're not buying him out? You don't know the details of the contract. Stop acting like an insider.
if we're buying him out we would have bought him a long time ago.
and we would not buyout him for 5 million when he could go out and earn 10 million more. we could just pay the 7.5 million and let him sit on the bench.
we're trying to transfer him so that at least we get a transfer fee after paying 24 million for him. that's the difference. it coudl be mutually beneficial, but right now barcelona is barely getting any benefit if at all. then the best solution would be to just pay his salary for one more year of service.
Our benefit is that we get Zlatan. Without Eto'o, we don't have him, simple as that.
Go and make a voodoo doll of Eto'o and put some needles in it to get rid of your frustrations.
getting paid 10 million a year early and play as the starter is a benefit too. it's not like eto'o is not getting anything.
eto'os choice is to take less money, and get the money earlier (this year). or wait and get a full bonus, and get the big contract later (next year).
you guys want eto'o to have all the benefits he would get next year, this year. while we're paying full price for ibra.
our benefit is ibra, but we could easily buy a different striker. villa for 50m, forlan for <36, fabiano for 20. there are alternatives.
uh trez that's my point. if eto'o were actually helping us get ibra then both sides would benefit.
but if we have to pay eto'o a big exit bonus then after all that's said and done we're basically paying ibra's full price in cash, then there's no benefit.
Guardiola wants him out, so staying is probably not the way the club wants it. So they've forced themselves to find a buyer and are willing to do crazy tings for that. You can't blame Eto'o that the club wants him out and to negotiate now the best he can. Would you give any gifts to the employer who throws you out? I sure wouldn't.
We're not paying Ibra's full price in cash with those 50 millions, that's not a serious argument, I don't even want to go there.
no, certainly i wouldn't help the club unless it benefited me. but eto'o is getting benefited anyway by leaving early.
like i said, it 'could' be mutually beneficial. if eto'o isn't getting enough benefit then he can just say no, easy enough. if eto'o's exit bonus is too high then the club can say no too. and just live with having him on the bench one last year. that would hurt eto'o too.
I just can´t take that Barca blowing the money away like Real (if the numbers are for real !!!).
The board already failed on getting a good deal done but now they can not accessorily allow that Inter and Eto´o let us bleed that much.
It´s not about Eto´o or his agent or Inter, they have to get what they can get. But there is a point where its just getting inadmissible.
I prefer losing 7,5 and playing without Ibra than the current deal.
50 + exit bonus is almost there. it's 60 at the most. go on the forza inter forums. none of them want eto'o, they all preferred 55 million straight up for ibra.
the benefit is so small that it's not worth it, you could just pay the 5 million left, after you pay the 50 + exit bonus.
Anon Dude almost all players who 'do not' request a transfer ask for an exit bonus because they did not initiate the transfer.
This may or may not be a portion of the transfer fee. The same happens in business all the time. If my boss came to me and said he wanted to get rid of me, I would ask for a severance payment and an incentive payment to leave. How is that not the same with Eto'o situation???
His employer Barca has told him they don't want him. He wanted to stay being 'under contract' but he was prepared to leave. He has asked for a severance payment / exit bonus to facilitate his leaving. Why is that so difficult to understand??
You are out of touch with the real world dude.
Anony I just love your passion for defending your views but I don't know if there's only one of you.
Why don't you enter a name so we can know if you changes your position in the future or still steadfast in your opinion.
i don't know how many times i have to say it. we're not buying him out.
stop comparing football transfers to your company. i have a job, i understand what goes on in a company. stop being so condescending.
we're not paying him severance for being tied to his contract. that's not the issue here. if that was the issue we would have just done that already, or left him on the bench for his salary.
what about players who want to go to big clubs but don't request a transfer? they still get a portion of the fee. not only do they get a huge raise, they get a big bonus to leave? huh?
professional footballers aren't exactly the same as your typical corporate employee. clubs are 'entitled' to a fee for helping to 'make' the player, proiding a stage, setting him up for the next big contract. however the player himself deserves a portion of that fee, that's the bonus we're talking about, NOT severance.
my my so much discussion on eto...
1. If your boss throws you out before the end of the contract, you're getting a bonus.
2. If you have a clause in your contract that says you're getting part of the transfer fee, you'll get that part. In this case it will be part of the valuation of the transfer given by Inter and Barcelona.
You can try to change those simple fact, but you won't get there.
And leaving him on the bench is not an option because the coach doesn't want to have him anymore because of his feeling, so stop referring to that as an option.
1. not if you're getting a sweeter deal that benefits you more than collecting your old paycheck and stalling your career.
2. sure (except nobody knows exactly what this valuation is)
leaving him on the bench is a euphemism for paying him and not including him in the squad.
1. yes, your new pay check has NOTHING to do with your boss throwing you out and him having to pay a compensation for that.
2. That's up to the clubs to decide.
Right, and we ending up with no striker or an alternative that Guardiola doesn't want. You would hurt Barça to hurt Eto'o.
1. it has everything to do with it, if the bonus is holding up your new sweeter deal and ruining your career. the boss may not want you anymore but he still has the option to pay you to do nothing. (which only hurts eto'o who could make more, plus be a star else where)
uh, we have 50 million + exit bonus to sign a striker, uh huh.
Dude the bonus can come in different forms and terms. Not all players get a portion of the transfer fee you are calling this bonus.
Who says a player deserves a portion of the transfer fee? That is something that is negotiated between all the parties invovled. Did Henry get a portion of the transfer fee as bonus? What about Ronnie? CR9??
You don't know what bonuses they were paid and what was stipulated in their aggrements.
My underlying point is that Eto'o should be entitled to an exit bonus irrespective of whether that comes out of the transfer fee or not. Who cares where it comes from or what it is called?? He deserves it. I am not necessarily calling it 'buying him out.' Just give him the money because he didn't request or initiate the transfer. Simple as that.
In future, I suggest that you have a name so people can identify you and associate your point of view.
Cheers, Aussie.
Dude this is precisely why you shouldn't jump into the middle of a conversation and then be all high and mighty with your 'you don't know shit about finances' bullshit.
This whole time fcbee and them were talking about the transfer bonus that 'every football deserves' according to them.
Now you're like 'we don't know which bonus we're talking about.
CR9 got a transfer fee bonus. Ronnie waived a bonus to go to Milan. GO READ ABOUT IT. Ronnie could have gone to City for 30m but went to Milan for 25 ONLY because he waived his portion fo the bonus in order to go to the club he wanted to go to, otherwise Barca wouldn't accept Milan's offer.
it's not about greed, it seems, it was a desperate try to convince barca making him stay.
even when barca told him last year, that he's unwanted, he gave all and helped us winning everything.
he loves barca and not otherwise. greedy? can't believe this (except, maybe his character needs it for his ego, to become worldclass-paid to be worldclass)
he seems to have a difficult character, but for what he did on the pitch, he should be remembered and let go in peace, as his statistics at barca were superb and speak for itself.
wish him best luck and hope, he finds his home at inter, thankful for the good moments, which outweigh the bad.
everybody here, had moments, hating, getting angry bout etoo, for not making the one or other goal, but the success at the end, also speak for itself.
would like too, to see ibra, but he's no promise to make more goals like etoo (more than 30? how many players made more in la liga?), but, he could make the game more attractive, as on the other hand, we lose THAT striker who defends - ETOO.
what we get at the end, surely, time will tell, but can't accept nor agree to those, who bash etoo for character or greed, as no one knows the truth or pay his wage or is able to make club-decisions.
for us, the SPECTATORS from the OUTSIDE, there can't be such criticism, as etoo was always a part of our success.
to grab an opinion and stand behind a side to defend them, is not smart, media-influenced, with also being miles away from the inside and not initiated into the club-internals.
visca el barca!!!!!
p.s. a contract is always made and agreed by two sides, as everything else too in the world has at least two sides, like the old greek, the chinese or native americans, etc realized 1000+ years ago
1. He'll have even a bigger signing bonues next year, so I don't really see how keeping Eto'o would hurt the player.
1. he'll waste 2.5 million salary + bonuses.
2. he'll waste one of the best years of his career.
3. he'll be out of match practice leading up to the world cup.
eto'o has plenty to lose.
1. No, he won't. Taxes in Italy are higher, so he'll probably have the same as he has now. And it will anyhow be largely compensated by the bigger signing bonus.
2. So? He has already won everyting on club level.
3. So? And he has shown he doesn't need much practice to be on top. And it's not as if he'll gonna lose his spot in the Cameroon team. Or as if Cameroon are the big favorites for the World Cup.
If you would want to hurt him, you should let him play, cause then he might get injured and miss next season's transfer. That's the only way he'll lose, something you want seem to want so badly.
Dude your just a coward. Hidding behind your anon alias. I am entitled to my point of view which you continually ignore.
I wish you were ignorant but that would be too big a compliment to give you.
Were you there when all these agreements were signed?? You can’t take everything you read as being verbatim. Whatever your point of view is, it is lost with your thrash talking garbage. You’re still a coward and won’t reveal your identity.
xavi:
"I think Eto'o is calm and a crucial member of the squad," Xavi told reporters. "For me, that is the best signing we have made. He is the best centre forward in the world."
"I do not know what will happen, but if it was down to the players we would consider him to be the number one priority."
iniesta:
“The transfer is not yet completed and Eto’o remains our friend,” he was quoted as saying by Sport.
“I have great respect for him and I will always wish the best for him.
puyol:
"Barca is stronger with Eto'o"
"With Eto'o last year, it has been said that it was the players who convinced Guardiola to keep him...
What I think convinced him was his attitude and his quality. I think he had a spectacular season and we have always said that Samu is great. To me, he's the best center forward in the world, because of how he works and what he gives to the team. It's hard to find a player like him."
so, these are some opinions of people know him personally, not over media or talk.
those who bash him, call him greedy, are just talkers, as no one knows him personal.
but, how pitty, that's how people are, influenceable.
don't want to defend him, but also i'm carefully enough, not to attack him
i'm done with you, you don't even bother thinking your responses through.
1. the tax is lower for FOREIGN players in the first 5-6 years. period has sailed loooooong ago for eto'o. his taxes are for all intents and purposes, the same in italy as in spain.
2. laugh, really? it doesn't matter for a football star to sit out one year? do you have any idea what that does to a career. you think he would be getting any kind of commercial revenues sitting on the sidelines? and forget the financial benefits. think about his legacy. he'll have spent one of his prime years not playing football. a footballer has 3-6 prime years tops.
3. ask beckham what match practise means, i'm not saying eto'o wouldn't still be selected, but he wouldn't be effective at all. he needs to be in the peak of his physical condition to break through at the world cup and become a star internationally.
and i don't want any of these things for eto'o. i want him to go play for barca (out of teh question now) or go play for another top club. (which needs his help in facilitating, or he could be stubborn and try to spite barca)
but eto'o has way more to lose than barca. who stands to lose what, 7.5 million? hell barcelona lost 7.5 million just buying hleb, and another 7.5 million buying caceres, they can afford to do that if forced into it.
I don´t care about what part cost us this or that one that much. It´s about the package. Barca will get hurt anyway and thats the fault of barcas board!!! We will lose our face, money and two players to get one who can bring at its best just little more effort than eto'o. Or on the other hand we can lose much less money and give playing time to Herny, Bojan und probably Keirrison if Eto'o don´t want to work well for his money. Eto#o is bound by a contract like we are. I know Pep doesn´t want him anymore but we can not destroy the image of Barcelona because of that.
However this situation will be solved it´s epic part of Barcelonas history and will be remembered.
aussie barca dude, stop embarrassing yourself. you're calling me out for hiding behind an alias...while you're sitting behind a computer chatting anonymously on the internet, good one!
it's not like aussie barca identifies you in any way. as long as you know it's me commenting, i could be called *#(%*# and it's the same thing.
I just want to point out how hilarious it is for you to call me a 'coward' and have 'garbage views'.
You weren't even a part of the conversation until you randomly came in and claimed I was too dumb to 'understand capitalism'. You wanted to be a condescending jackass and got exposed.
Calling me out for a fake internet name is just riiiiiiiiiiiiich.
Eto'o has nothing to lose.
1. Even without that ragime, the taxes are still lower in Spain. Plus it gets compensated largely by the bonus that won't be less than 10 million next year.
2-3. You're just trying to convince yourself. Eto'o would stay with a smile.
You're just wandering around in your hate world trying to find ways to damage Et'oo. Your hate for Eto'o seems to be bigger than your love for Barça.
By the way: if they send him to the B squad, the club probably would have to pay for that becasue that's obstruction to work...
sorry guys, don't want to interfere in your discussion, but don't you think, to discuss prizes or taxes ain't a waste of time? you have no influence into any actions nor know, how much money barca really have or what they try to reach in financial way by it, so, why you guys don't stay calm and forget about things beyond our reach?
Leon Xavi Iniesta and Puyol were the ones who were shouting to the heavens how great Villa was during the Confed Cup and how they were so sure he would fit great in Barca. Then after a little while they "caught themselves" and said "Etoo is great too, I'm sure he can play with Villa" LOL. They are being polite, what do you expect them to say? "Etoo sucks"? The deal is not done and if it collapses etoo could still return so they are smart and not burning any bridges.
The way they say it and repeat it shows it's more than just being polite, in my opinion. The statements about Ronaldinho last year, those were polite.
Certainly knowing that Guardiola doesn't want him. So they take the risk of burning bridges with him.... Last year, the captains convinced the club to let Eto'o stay.
And Xavi said he thought Eto'o and Villa could play together, so praising Villa didn't mean burning down Eto'o.
etoo has every right to this "bonus" because etoos contract didnt expire yet, and the board broke it, by sellimg him before the contract expires. so if you know atleast alittle bit of how football negotiations work, dont whine about "WTF BONUS HERE BONUS THERE" "ETOO SHOULDNT GET A BONUS" and all that, get your facts right. 1 love
Oh yeah let etoo have his bonus. Are we really so horrible that we cannot give a barcelona legend a final parting gift? Does it matter where the money comes from? Etoo have given us 2 CL titles and 3 la liga titles in 5 years after we won nothing for 4 years. Lets not be ungratful
maybe you right barca4life, or maybe not (as xavis words about the "best signing were made after etoo stayed and that it's not impossible that they wanted him to stay, as they wanted villa too).
but that's not the fact...just wanted to show or move people to take it as example, for maybe, being polite too, instead of calling him greedy or a liar or something else, as they have, for me, absolutely no right too, as watchers or bystanders, who know s*** about the truth, lost in a mix of true lies.
that was what i wanted to point on, something i learned as a child.
don't get me wrong, but maybe right or not?
"By the way: if they send him to the B squad, the club probably would have to pay for that becasue that's obstruction to work..."
What kind of stupid argument is that? Maybe Caceres and Hleb should sue the club for not playing them enough? The club is paying him wages, they can decide to play him or not, or play him on the B team, or play him in friendlies.
Fcbee you have to read within the lines. how could villa and etoo play together when etoo threw a tantrum anytime he was replaced at barca? Where were Henry Villa Etoo Messi Xavi Toure and Iniesta going to fit with Etoo having to play almost every game? They may have said etoo and villa could play together after they realized etoo could be hurt but their words were clear before Villa in = Etoo out. They are just being polite now and trying to not decrease inter's view of etoo.
excuse my hard words now, as i mean no one special by that...but it could be also a question of character, life experiance or matury, if this makes sense or not.
learned, not to point the finga
Eto'o has nothing to lose if the circumstances are getting well for him. He tries get get as much as he can which is pretty much comprehendible and his right. But we are not that weak that we need to comply with everything given by Int. Mail. and the Eto'o squad which is our right, too.
If the deal doesn´t work out for us bring Eto'o back on our team and look what happen. If it works out well, good. If not, bench and try to sell him. Everything we would get is more than we would get now. And we will give our talent a sign of our faith in their abillity.
Its like zanetti of inter said of zlatan. When a great champion leaves another one arrives. Thats football. We lose a great champion in etoo but we gain another in zlatan. Lets not fight to give etoo a small fee after all he has done for the club
"MADRID CABRON SALUD AL CAMPEON" Samuel Etoo - Barcelona Legend.
Xavi meant: Villa from the left, Eto'o in the centre and Henry out. Xavi doesn't like Henry because he has too little movement.

agree a 100% to all of this.
bot the song, pique was the lead-singer
meant, bout the song...
Eto'o´s bonus is no problem at all, the package is.
Piqué wasn't there at the time...
he must have been there, as it was also a scandal at the medias.
it was, when barca became campeons, right...
please, don't make me search now for the link
No, they can't. Sending someone to the B-team (which by the way is not possible according to the rules of the Spanish football federation) or letting him train on his own, could be obstruction to work according to Spanish albour laws. So you could release yourself from the exit bonus, but pay a bigger compensation (apart from the lawyers).
And this has nothing to do with staying with the first team and playing little. if his stays with the first team and doesn't play that won't be a problem. But Guardiola doesn't want that.
At the end of the day, Eto'o will get the bonus we all would get if we were in his place.
It was in 2005, Leon.
you were right fcbee...
what pique said was:
'Bote, bote, madridista que no bote', which means 'Jump, jump, only Madridistas cannot jump'
now, i have to make a 5km marathon to get this off from me...thank you fcbee, for saving my day :)
My pleasure!
lol we're taking out a loan for this. no way we can be finance it ourselves. i love to see ibra in barca but this is too much money to put out. at that price inter should already absorb the exit bonus, eto's waives , inter pays and call it a signing bonus or sth. laporta is losing his lawyers instincts. how disappointing.

All africans are greedy.Example:Eto'o,adebayor.
Xaviniesta stop talking shit man.We are taking loan to pay TV3 for losing a legal battle against this channel.we didn't allow them to broadcast some key matches due to our contract with media pro.they suited a case against us in the court and we lost the legal battle.i love the way you guys bash clubs for everything.shame on u gloryhunter
this fucker xaviniesta is actually agent of peres.he is here to lick eto'o's ass
All non Africans are greedy; e.g:
*Michael Owen to Newcastle
*Terry not ruling out City.
*Becks to MLS
*Lampard flirting with Inter to get make Chelsea pay £140/week.
Garet Barry to City (ahead of Liverpool).
all non africans are greedy lol haha, i'm not greedy, ok maybe just a little bit.... alright i am greedy.
why does some people don't want eto get is release fee if it's part of the system then there is nothing we can do about it, i'm sure barcelona were doing all this knowing they had to give eto that extra cash. personally i don't really care for anything about eto no more, i don't care for the eto lovers bashing zlatan or the borad members for some reason, i don't care about the transfer fee i don't give a damn what is right or wrong just as long zlatan joins barca and eto goes the other way cause in the end we all can argue but the zlatan fans will be the ones enjoying this transfer season while the others continue to argue and you know what we all will be in the chatbox later this year celebrating like nothing happened so for right now i just laugh at you all for continuing the same argument over different topics.
@LeonDragon
marathon is over 42 km,not 5...but all these rumours and stuff makes anybody want to run like hell...I hope this ends soon
Am tired of this dragging saga of Sammu and people loosing their minds here. Lets just think about the good that Sammu has done to us and wish him the very best wishes. I'm a barca die harder and coming in here everyday to look at what is happening, its looking like we are fighting between ourselves to the benefits of others. Lets put our acts together and wait for our final 1st eleven. Mistakes that are done are over, but we can learn thru them to avoid them in the future. If Pep decides Sammu must leave, then he knows and has the reasons behind that move. Afterall, he's the man in charge. My fellow brothers of FCB, lets show respect as usual to Sammu, wish him best of luck in inter and lets change to the new tune pep is finalising.
