Deal between Inter and Eto'o

All Italian media claim that Inter Milan and Barcelona forward and Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o (28) have found an agreement on a five-year deal worth 10 million euro plus incentives a year.

Only the signature of the player would now still be missing. The player's agent, Josep Maria Mesalles, would fly back to Barcelona to negotiate with Barcelona on the exit bonus of the player. The official announcement of the deal would be close.

Shortly after today's second meeting with Inter officials, Mesalles told Italian news agency
Ansa that progress has been made: "The negotiations are advancing well, but we are looking for a solution to all the points that are being discussed. There won't be new negotiations today. Four hours of talking is enough for one day. Now I will return to Spain and tomorrow I could be back in Italy."

exit bonus ...???!
Crazy men realy crazy an exit bonus.
I know there is a sign bonus buth no exit bonus.
If Barça pays this bonus than they are all gone mad!

hey guys how many people feel that we are forcing inter to accept eto'o by paying them 50mill + (possibly) hleb on loan.... how many believe that barca board has heard enough from him and they are only hoping to off load eto'o as soon as possible... if we pay 50mill to inter we could hav epaid little more and got villa from valencia and next year let eto'o as free agent...

barca4life said...

I think Ibra's characteristics as well as the fact that valencia were acting a little crazy saying no sale and then only a sale for 50 million put the board off a little. We are now no longer a team of midgets though. :)

Azulgrana4life said...

OMG, Eto'o is soo greedy! After all Barca has offered him and the trophies he has won with them, he wants to squeeze every cent he can get from them! To be honest, despite all he has done for the club, im happy to see the back of him if he doesn't have enough respect to thank the club and walk out with his head held high. Instead he is a backstabber and a theif running away with a sack full of money through the back door. Good decision Pep. Visca Barca.

exit bonus... whats this?
is he serious?

Anonymous said...

Thank the club for throwing him out, you must be joking... They want him out, so they'll have to pay. That's the way it goes.

barca4life said...

Let the man have his bonus. He has served us well. Think of it as our parting gift to him for the 2 CL titles and 3 La liga's. He is a barca legend after all. He has scored in 2 CL finals, something nobody besides raul has managed to do.

Every player gets a part of the transfer fee. If you don't know anything about football matters, please don't get involved in discussions.

FINALLY !!

And hopefully we'll see a OFFICIAL : Ibrahimovich tomo morning :)

should'nt inter be the ones that pay him part of the fee?

Iniesta Goooooaaaaal !!!!!:

Barca were the ones who broke the contract. So by law it is only right for Etoo to claim his wages and other payments for the remaining season on the Barca contract. Simple.

I´m glad this seems to be done and over with. It has been a bad presentation of the club and a story a lot of people would like to forget asap.

I would also take the time urge all of you following this blog to keep the standard to a maximum. Personal disagreements don´t have to mean that you call eachother names and write messages with CAPS LOCK. It´s a forum for discussion yes. But there are rules for an intelligent one...

Finally I wish Samu all the best. He´s been a great striker for us and an example of how hard the players in this team work. I hope that Zlatan will adapt and take in the style of play and Peps advice.

Thank you guys for keeping the news coming!

While I keep reading about Eto'o this and that, what about Ibra?

I'm deeply disappointed if the alleged amount is being dished out but if Guardiola, Laporta and co. think the benefit outweigh the cost, I'll just accept it as it is their reputation that is on the line not mine, so I guess they know what is best for the team and club. They are the "pillars" of the institution while I'm just an outsider looking in.

Furthermore it's not like I can influence any of their dealings other than express my opinions in the hope that it may count for something but then again I'm sure they know that already by reading and seeing all the news.

It's all over: gazzetta, corriere, everyone has it.

Kxevin said...

trez is right. Players sometimes will waive their chunk of the fees to facilitate a deal, as in the case of Ronaldinho.

Adebayor is another one seeking a "loyalty bonus," from Arsenal in his case. But it didn't affect his transfer.

It does put us in a bit of a pickle, though. It will depend on how difficult Eto'o and his agent want to be about the bonus. I can't imagine them being filled with love and charity toward Laporta, Guardiola, et al.

NOuBarca said...

nice 1 iniestagoal. Am an African, do I have a right to be offended by your comment?

If you have a right to take money from your company the day they tell you to go, would you tell them to keep it? Its not nice at all we are now calling this guy greedy. It is within his right to get the fee. Its that simple. Why should he "dash" barca money?

Unknown said...

Guys please help me out here because i seem to be neglecting something. The team is trying to sign both Ibra AND Drogba?

refter said...

Drogba was in the "2008" series where the blog puts up a story from one year ago...

Unknown said...

Thanks for the quick reply Refter, my bad...

jazzy said...

nicolas that drogba deal is 2008's news.
and I dont really care much now. I'll just watch tomorrows Chelsea vs Inter and maybe catch the last play by Ibra in Inter. :D

John G said...

Paying Inter 50 MM euros plus Eto plus hleb and Hleb's salary is ridiculous! Barca are the worst negotiators! We also pay top euro and get next to nothing when we sell. I think that with the 50 MM euro we could have given pay increases to Messi and Eto and then just keep Eto. Alternatively, pay the 50 MM for Villa then sell Eto for 25 MM euro to Chelsea, AC Milan or Inter for that matter. That would have lowered the amount spent by the club. Hleb can go on loan for a fee. Barca needs to hire a tough and shrewd negotiator who does only that. Txiki, Pep and Laporta can worry about which palyers are best for the team. Sadly Barca has developed a reputation for paying out top money and selling for little.

Anonymous said...

like i said he will sign tomarrow and ibra will sign thursday

Barça should give the money grabber some more money and get it over with .Good riddance to a greedy ungrateful loose cannon . Perhaps NouBarca can follow his idol to Inter and change his name to "EtoInter" !!

jazzy said...

hey.. maybe Ibra will get a little farewell in that match.. you know like him giving applause to the fans and Inter and the players one by one shaking him..
who knows ;)

Unknown said...

i just read this on ibrahimovic twitter I might play against Chelsea in Pasadena 20.00 local time or fly to Spain. It all depends on Eto'o!

Unknown said...

Shane, there is a chance he may deny those tweets...again. LOL

Anonymous said...

Ibrahimovic Twitter is false...

fcbee said...

Ibrahimovic's agent also said he didn't yet talk with Barça. First they want to get Eto'o's approval and then they'll probably start talking with the others.

luimac said...

Is sad when racist fans contribute absolutely nothing to the blog. I can't believe people think Eto'o is greedy for expecting to get paid for something that is on his contract... Basically is like saying teams are greedy if their players which contracts have not expired WANT to go to another club, then get transferred and want to get a % of money. WOW!, I guess all teams in football history are some money grubbing "pirates".

NouBarca said...

anon, its a shame you cant get at me cos I dont really believe in childish rants. Wish you lived closer.

Call Eto money grabber form today till tomorrow, any sane human would collect what belongs to him. Bill gates would not leave his £1000 with you if he can collect it. Its not greed. Its called sense. Get some

When the transfer is official and the numbers come out. I'm going to have some choice words whether this is good or bad business by our board. Until then I'll reserve my positive or negative comments

Iniesta Goooooaaaaal !!!!! said...

Bad behaviour thats Eto'o, it was for that reason he normaly had to go last season.
Buth he changed and he could stay.
Now he scored 30 goals (and missed 30) and that bad behaviour is back.

Remember he wouldnt sign a new contract and left the club without letting something know...

Thats why Pep wants him to leave!
And when I call him Kind of Africa I dont affend Africans!

Some Africans read the word Africa and you are imidiatly a racist..

very strange

Anonymous said...

NouBarca: " Wish you lived closer. "
Do you always "threaten" people who happen to disagree with you ? Very pathetic !!

Anonymous said...

What bad behaviour? He worked more for team in one game than a normal centre forward in a whole season. He didn't complain once in the press. Guardiola just wanted him out because of his "feeling", don't blame Eto'o for Pep's feeling. He's leaving, be happy for that but don't spit on him another time.

jazzy said...

Iniesta gooall.. the racist comment is not about your post. there was an anony that posted a racist comment and the post is already deleted.
just to clear things out. :)

Iniesta Goooooaaaaal !!!!! said...

ano 1 year ago he had to leave with Ronaldinho and Deco !!!
Because they brought bad behaviour in to the team!

Or did you already forgett that...

now he scores 30 goals and he acts like he is Barça's most important player who deserves to have the biggest pay check.

Thats the feeling Pep has about Eto'o and I dont blame him because i see and feel the sam!

Noubarca said...

threat? hell no. I talk "nonsense" to peoples faces. not hiding behind a computer screen. becasue I am 100% certain there are things some of us wouldnt say to one another if we saw each other. If only we would think this way, then we would "respect" one another more on here. Why would you advise me on where to go? on what name to answer? Have you changed your name to "LarPep"? No! And am not about to tell you what to do. Imagine Eto reading what you called him? "greedy ungrateful loose cannon"

And to the African thingy, I am not one of those who see Africa and think Race/Racism. but when Gree, African King are together, its feels like that. Dont you think taking out the African king would have still made your points taken? I dont duell on race issue and the is the 1st time in 5odd years am getting directly invloved in racial discussion.

trez said...

Eto'o wasn't out last season because of bad behaviout but because Guardiola was looking for another type of striker, like Adebayor or Drogba. Get your facts straight otherwise it's difficult to discuss properly.

Kxevin said...

We'll just wait to see what the numbers are, if they ever come out.

As far as Eto'o and his bonus, he has every right to seek payment of it, if it's in his contract. This relationship is so bollixed up that any and all goodwill seems to be gone. It's his money if he wants to pursue it, and he knows that we have to pay it, or take him back. Simple as that.

As far as posting comments and the tone thereof, my usual rule is that I wouldn't type anything that I wouldn't say to an angry weightlifter. Usually keeps me pretty honest. :D

Those of you who havent figured out the benefit of this deal should realised that Etoo is being sold more to get rid of a trouble maker than for onfield performances. Plus Ibra, because of his aerial ability, would give a new dimension to our attack. How many goals did we score from excellent crosses frrom alves last season? Not much. That is going to change. In addition, Ibra is a great shooter and a terrific passer, extremely skilful on the ball, and one that will add to our immensely juicy attack. Bye, bye Etoo, greedy trouble maker

Anonymous said...

Barca4ever : good points overall . Ibrahimovic could be Barça's answer to defeat the EPL'S" park the bus " strategy for the reasons you mentioned !!

Iniesta Goooooaaaaal !!!!! said...

Barca4ever you told it all!

Thats why we have 2 great transfers this season: Ibra and Maxwell !!!

The attack realy gone have a other demension. One they have never seen in history of football!

Anonymous said...

Answer to "park the bus"? It's easier to defend Ibra than Eto'o who has more movement.

trez said...

Yeah, your article doesn't tell anythign. Go back in the archives of this blog, then you'll see Pep saying at his first press conference that he wants another type of striker.

NouBarca said...

Where does the word "greedy" came from? I still dont get it. Everyone defends his own corner. Do you know Ibra would earn more than he did at Inter?

NouBarca said...

If you call Eto "proud" "unforgiving" I can understand. Why didnt he go to that country (Uzbe...)? Imagine that amount of money? If was half as greedy as you make him, he would be there now. But eh. I always we would never agree on this.

refter said...

Is Eto'o is greedy, every single player is greedy: thye all wants as much money as possible. Remember Xavi's renewal negotiations who went on for months? But Xavi is a good guy of course, because the Catalan press defends him and doesnt bring out the salary he asked for. Like NouBarca said: you can call him many things, but greedy isn't one of them. Would you drop money if your employer throws you out after you performed well? You can't be serious...

Iniesta Goooooaaaaal !!!!! said...

Ofcourse trez did he say that, buth the roumors from the dressing rome where different!

Did you see him play at the African cup and how he ackted against his team mates... Thats the real Eto'o.
So where there is smoke there is fire ..

Ano easier to defend Ibra lol, did you see him play, you cant take the ball of him! easier lol.

NouBarca said...

Funny this one dimensional team won 2 UCL cups agaisnt EPL teams. I am not against change, but saying Eto is the ONLY reason we dont break buses is far from true as he score 2 great goals in 2 UCL finals. and dont tell me Xavi, messi, Inies helped him. Thats their job or wouldnt they help Ibra or whoever we get? Like I said, I wasnt there, thus wouldnt call players names

Ramzi said...

Guys, Dont make this discussion turns to personal insults.

This way It will not be a healthy place to discuss anything anymore. And I can tell that lot of members avoid commenting just so they dont get insulted. No one hold the keys of wisdom, which always camp somewhere inbetween.

NouBarca said...

Eto attacking team mates.lol.. we can dig up things players have done. thats just part of it. wasnt messi accuses of trying to spit at opposite player? Didnt some Newcastle player fight each other? Jay Jay Okocka almost fought a Bolton team mate when he was there. The real Eto can also be the one who score from larsons pass in Paris or the Eto that killed Vidic in Rome. But we have a right to also chose the one who attacked team mate in ACN. its called free-will

NouBarca said...

Point taken Ramz.
Its just got a bit heated up. I'll behave..lol.. :)

Kxevin said...

The bus breaking comment is interesting. Movement didn't break the bus the past couple of seasons. Sometimes such a situation calls for a Drogba type, a big, back to the goal striker who can take a pass, turn and do the business. But sometimes even that doesn't work against a determined side. It all depends.

Iason said...

I know this is random, but can someone that works on this blog maybe try to find and post some important matches like the away Madrid game and the CL final? I am talking about full matches, not just highlights. Just a suggestion.

Anonymous said...

We should just not pay Eto'o anything. Sit him on the bench and use him as a sub. Let him go for free next year. Would Eto'o really scrap the deal for a couple of extra million when he could be sitting on the bench wasting a year? He loses 2.5m of salary by staying.

Iniesta Goooooaaaaal !!!!! said...

ano thats the way to deal with Eto'o! I would even puth him in the tribunes. Because there is next year a Africa cup and a world championship... And a player who dont play at his team will be not able to play with his national team! Thats the way they have to speak with Eto'o

Well, well, I never thought. These guys actually serious about disrespecting Eto'o and you could sware they actually knew him.Business is business and it is obviously not about friendship,so he should get what he is due.Guadiola has to realize he is not their father and the players are not his kids, they are all professionals with differences of opinion.

People really need to get over this superiority/inferiority complex though its getting old.Racism is outdated and just not cool.

Anonymous said...

How is it racism? Like you said it's business.

He's holding the club hostage for money. His right to 'get his due' like you said. The club has a right to 'get their due' as well. They paid 24 million for him plus wages all these years. They should let him go to another club for free plus pay him 15 million?

Duh the club has the right to pay him his agreed upon salary of 7.5 million and utilize him on the pitch any way they want to use him.

So, Guardiola talked Henry into staying, asked for Keita and made Yaya into a starting lineup fixture, showing off his versatility and attacking prowess. And I'm surprised such a racist wouldn't have played Krkic, instead of sullying the Camp Nou pitch with black players.

NOTE GIANT DOSE OF SARCASM

Writing as a black (American), cule and socio, Guardiola isn't racist. He just wants his own sporting program, and what's wrong with that. As Cruyff said, "I'd rather lose with my program than win with someone else's."

It's certainly easy to cry racism, but reality argues against such things.

This deal has to get done, so that we can go back to supporting the club that we love, rather than attacking people within the club, such as Laporta and Guardiola. Is a treble not enough? The club had a spectacular season, and Guardiola thinks that he has a plan to get things to that next level. I think he deserves a chance.

Are we spending? Yes. And recall when everyone was clamoring for our beloved club to do something, anything. It has now, and with our own money. No bank loans or taking out second mortgages on Laporta's vacation villa. :D
