Villa is not for sale

During a meeting earlier today, Valencia officials have informed José Luis Tamargo, the agent of Valencia forward and Spanish international David Villa (27), that the player is not for sale.

Tamargo made the news public through a statement: "Valencia, first through vice-president Javier Gómez and later through president Manuel Llorente, informed me that David Villa is nor for sale. Before, they had said they had to sell him and we've received offers from the four best clubs in the world. Like you all know, we have negotiated with three of them and now the club changes its stand. This is a sad and uncomfortable situation, it's not good for anyone."

Valencia president Manuel Llorente later confirmed the new turn-around at a press conference: "We've taken this decision after having analyzed during some days the pro's and the contra's of a transfer. Villa is the best striker in Europe and we are lucky to have him with us in Valencia. We're gonna fight for him to stay with us. When I took up the presidency ten days ago, some talks were ongoing. I had doubts on a transfer from the start.

It's true that I've talked on Sunday with Barcelona president Joan Laporta after the negotiations with Madrid were cancelled the day before. But with Barcelona we didn't talk about fees. We just told them that we wanted some days to think about everything and now we have taken this decision. I cannot assure 100 per cent that Villa will start the season with us because you never know if a scandalously scandalous offer comes in."

Is it just me or is it weird that Insider is on the money on all these? I'm thinking Insider=Laporta himself

scandalously scandalous offer.come on you money greedy %@#^%$#^&%&%$.there should be a transfer fee cap and a wage cap and players should be able to move more freely among clubs if they decide so....

i'd like to see who Insider claims our backup striker options are cause we are seemingly running out of options

we could buy a winger and play henry in his true position??

No way its enough if Barca buys only a winger like Mata after selling Eto'o, the result would be a disaster. If there was a transfer fee cap, lets say 50 million, RM would have thanked FIFA for saving their money and bought Ronaldo, Kaka, Ribery, Zlatan and Villa for that price. My guess is that the inside guy is Joan Franquesa- Vice president of institutional and assets administration or Jaume Ferrer who is Vice president for marketing and media

Something's weird about this... stating Villa's not for sale and then comeback saying if a great offer comes in we'll sell.

I wouldn't doubt if Valencia is bluffing trying to draw more higher bid's from clubs by saying he's not for sale. Knowing that Valencia is practically €600m in debt and players at times went unpaid, i can't see them holding on to Villa, Silva, Fernandes, Albiol etc. any longer.

albiol, now theres a name we could have at barca. 23 years old, 1.89 cm tall (6ft 2.5in). imagine albiol playing against pique, the english teams wouldnt have a chance.

I think eto'o will renew at least one yr xtention as we're running out of option. As do Toure, if he hasn't already done so.

With all the reports including the insight from Insider it's seems all roads point to him joining Barca...

Just today i read the current issue of FFT w/ Villa on the front cover... he talked with them and during the interview once again he was praising Barca, "I like Barcelona's style. It's a joy to play with their little guys [Iniesta and Xavi] with the national team and they play the most attractive football around. But in the end, any system that wins is a good system. I like having freedom to move and seek goals. But I can adapt."

If he likes a system that is attractive and wins then Barca is the place for him, and if Pep wants him on the LW he can adapt ;)

all this is crap. valencia dont have a leg to stand on because of the financial problems they have, and plus, they cant keep a player against his will. if villa wants to move, he will move
