Ginés Carvajal, the agent of Barcelona goalkeeper Víctor Valdés has told in an interview with Catalan radio statio RAC 1 yesterday that there's a deal on the renewal on the contract of the player:
"There's a deal and the contract will be signed any day soon. I did never thought of the negotiations as being broken, that sure was not our intention. I didn't talk with Laporta and I think Valdés didn't either. We've always talked about wanting to reach an agreement and that's what has happened."

my only defense for valdes - he has been excellent this season, when required...
the two one on ones against drogba...
the shot by crissy ron in the early stages of the final...
the other shot by crissy ron just after messi's goal...
may be worth it
Hey Pep...
Any idea/reports on how much he will be earning?
@Dude... There are no reports for wages... But its understood to be less than 6million Euros... Hey pep can you translate this I'm not really sure what it is trying to say

he deserved this reneval based on his performance he was not bad .. every kepper has his off days be it cech or reina ......
but i seriusly believe he needs competion which none of our keppers will provide incuding mino and oier
we shld try to sign sme good young talented keeper ... asenjo was d best but he would not cme as backup act our board made a mist by not signing him earlier though they were monitoring him ....it happens always since we have a bit slow aproach
For sure great signing. Where else would this guy play??? Sure he's a dumbass during la liga, but I will not soon forget the games against Chelsea. He was easily the mvp of the semi-final at least tied with iniesta.
Thanks Samuel.
Good job by Barca not giving into the demands of Valdes. But we still need to sign a gk that will compete w/ Valdes and light a fire up his ass
I know how much he'll get... And you'll know it too. Soon.
I hate to say I told you so but "I told you so". lol
ya his saves kept us in the games and inesta goal won the match that night ... valdes was at his best with inesta agianst chelsea cant forget that game ... it was act the final for us .... !!!
My question is if he didn't renew who was going to pick him up? I'm glad thats one less thing to worry about. Common Pep I've been reading all the spanish site and theres lots of news today. Villa is like Fuck the merengues and fuck perez. Mascherano wants to come but Xabi alonso has already requested to leave to go 2 madrid. I'm trying to read it but my spanish isn't the greatest. Common PeP
I remind you that I only have the interesting news, not the cheap stuff... ;)
Madrid tabloids on Villa are funny: Marca says it's definitely off, As says it's definitely on.
Interesting... Which sites do you consider to favor Madrid??? And which ones favor Barca???
Is it true Villa has definately chosen Madrid over Barca/
Its great that we have renewed Valdes's contract,I pray they renew Eto'o and Yaya Toure as well immediately.
If we cannot get Villa,I think we should start considering spending big on one top forward.Ibrahimovich at all cost.Other less expensive alternatives should be Aguero and Luis Fabiano.
I'm not considering a lot here, Samuel, it's obvious that
Marca/As = Madrid
Sport/El Mundo Deportivo = Barcelona
I really need PeP's help, but I'll take a stab at it. @Jigga Apparently in spain last night there was a report on canal 9 radio that he didn't appreciate what Perez had to say about him and told his agent to talk to barca, but apparently valencia is pressuring him for chelsea. Again my spanish isn't the greates but It's what I understood...I think
Yeah!! at last. i just dont see valdes playing anywhere else.
good for him and us.
but, still, I think Asenjo is really a good prospect, and i would really love if barca sign him.
but we all know thats not gonna happen, cuz he will be a back up here, not becuz of his skills, but becuz he is still so young, he'd be better to go to atletico where he would be first team choice. and btw, i dont like the loan idea if we sign him, he is just too good for that, and i dont think he wants to be loan out.
so...
im thinking bout the future..
valdes's contract expire 4-5years. Asenjo goes to AM, and have a 4-5years contract.
by that time, maybe valdes would pass his peak.. and... by then Asenjo will be the hottest GK on the market. he will be around 24-25. and if AM dont get any trophies, im sure he would go out and play in the big clubs.
so.. I hope if we dont sign Asenjo now.. we could sign him the next 4-5 year. :D
I think we should give Valdez more credit since I reckon if he is English he could have been the no.1 goalkeeper over there. Only the other Spanish goalkeepers are too good but I still think he should at leat no. 2 or 3 for Spain. You cannot be a treble winning goalkeeper for being no good. What's wrong with them?
I think valdes has done a good job in all these years. he deserves it. I also think media are exagerating. yes I wouldn't have paid him 9m a year. but also xavi asked a very big amount.you can't blame them for trying! VV is the ideal goalie for barça. He also accepted less than what he could earn with man u for example.he's a real cule:)
do you remember all the goalkeepers after zubizarreta:
busquets, bahia, hesp, dutruel, bonana. total disasters!I also don't think cech or reina are better. only buffon, cassilas and van der sar are better at the moment. Juve paid 50m for buffon;and the first goal of eto'o against VDS, he didn't look very good over there. So i prefer valdes!
gud to hear VV is gonna be with us! LOVE U VV!
I think valdes suit with barca style of play.We use to attack minded game.Even defences go on attacking. If opponent try to counter attack us we still have valdes which is good in one on one situation.
the new contract is signed, 2014, €7m
@je m'apelle samuel
The Marca article you linked explains that Peréz is worried about Valencia fans' reaction to MadRid's pursuit of Villa, so he may call the move off. Also that Valencia seem to be pushing VIlla towards Chelsea, who presumably are offering top dolla...
I reckon they're just trying to save face in case Villa doesn't join, after Peréz declared it was a done deal...
great news, one of our best ever GK. although slightly dissapointed that asenjo wont be coming.
wonder if he put his foot down with his twat of an agent? anyway next yaya.
