Maxwell confident about super cup

Speaking at a press conference, Barcelona left back defender Maxwell looked back at his first weeks at the club:

"We are having a very positive pre-season, very good indeed. With the spirit within the squad and the experience of the players we can make a good start in the Super Cup.

I was surprised by the organisation of the club and the quality of the training sessions. What is also impressive is the speed with which the team plays. The Spanish league and the Serie A are different leagues with different demands. Here the game is more about having possession of the ball, the speed of play and the technique."

My main goal here is to maintain the balance on the pitch. For me the defensive side of things is very important and the offensive part is more intuitive and about creativity. But the coach will decide who plays. Both Abidal and I are part of the squad and the most important thing is to be ready when the team needs us."

This guy is a pro and completes our left back requirements. He gives Pep added flexibility as someone who is more than capable of getting forward. His ball control is really outstanding.

I'm really curious to find out how the balance between Abidal and Maxwell will be this season: who will have the priority? who will play most? will they rotate? if so, will there be some logic in the rotations (for example one for away games, the other home games)?

I think Guardiola might still prefer Abidal to keep the balance in the team with Alves already going forward the whole time.

GROGA,i think abidal will play most, coz he's good in defending and we dont need two attacking full backs in many games.

I think the opposite: in most games we need two attacking full backs.

I agree with trez. In 95% of Liga games teams simply park the bus. Attacking fullbacks from both wings are necessary to give service to our new behemoth of a front line.
