Victor Sanchez confirms loan talks with Xerez

Asked about the rumours linking him with a loan move to Xerez (read more here), Barcelona midfielder Víctor Sánchez (21) has said in an interview with Jerez local newspaper La Voz de Jerez that he's holding talks with newly promoted Spanish first division club:

"I know there are contacts. The club has talked to Xerez and has advised me to leave. But we're still negotiating, there's nothing signed yet.

My intention is to play in the Spanish first division next sason. A decision will be made this week, we don't want to postpone things any longer. Xerez is an option we're seriously looking at, although I repeat that there's no deal yet."

Catalan sports papers El 9 Esportiu and Sport meanwhile claim that Víctor Sánchez and Xerez have reached an agreement. El 9 Esportiu reports that Xerez will pay the full salary of the player, whose contract with Barcelona expires in 2012, and that no buyout option will be included. Sport says that the clubs are now finalizing the last details. Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that the deal will be closed later today.

he needs to go on loan...

I'm not toally convinced he is Barca material but he sure can play in the first division.

He needs to go out and with increased playing time he needs to jump to that next level. 21 is a crucial age because slowly he will not be a talent anymore but a player and if they don't believe in your ceiling then you are stuck.

He indeed needs playing time, but I think the guy really won't make it to become Barcelona quality (not even solid back-up) so why don't we just sell him, with a buy-back cluse or a percentage on a later sale by Xerez?

Now he's back next summer and we again have to invest time and effort in him. And if he fails at Xerez, we're stuck with him.

i think he can be a good utility guy. a guy who can play multiple positions and brings energy to the pitch. send him out on a loan and see if he can be a solid backup.

the reason they are not selling victor sanchez is because he is a catalan, laporta, the fans and the board always give the catalan players in the academy more priority and show more patience towards them... that is one of the reason fans were not patient with giovanni dos santos because he was not catalan and started booing the poor boy after a few underpar performances in his first season in the first, which made him leave because he thought this was not the right place for him and the catalan press in order to cover the boards face started rumours that he was looking for money and shit when the real reason was the booing of fans...

now all the cules will regret seeing him leave after his outstanding performances for mexico recently in the gold cup where he was given the player of the tournament, he is sure to be one of the best players in the world in the very near future he was that damn good in that tournament...

i really hope we won't boo our own youth anymore for gods sake its a disgrace...

obviously i can't confirm ur inside info, but it really was shocking seeing him getting booed. crowd not only showed obvious favoritism towards bojan, but a lack of respect towards gio. he was so young, so talented, it really was a SHAME. i hope the fans come to regret the great footballer he one day will be.
