Cesc will not leave Arsenal this summer

Asked about the rumours linking Arsenal midfielder and Spanish international Cesc Fàbregas (22) with a move to Barcelona (read more here), Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has said at a press conference that his club will not let the player leave:

"Do you really think we sell now our players one day before the championship starts, players who are basic players of the team? There is no chance.

You cannot stop people from having a lot of creative imagination during their sleepless nights, but that does not mean we will do it.

I believe that in life you are committed to clubs with contracts and in no contract is the colour of your blood described. I am more committed than ever to my club, not only this season, but since I have arrived here. We are the beginning of a new season now, and it is important that everybody focuses. Me, Fabregas, everybody else, just on being successful for the club we love, and the best way we can do that is to do well."

Thank GOD!!! We were on the verge of being fools, you know over paying or heck giving away the little Bojan.
Yeah Wenger! You are damn right. But lets see, Barca wins few more silverware in the coming years, you guys end up with nothing judging by the way you are handling the transfers at your club, then we shall see if the "colour of blood" creeps into his contract or not. Until then, all the best to you guys to stay in the 'TOP 4' and to TRY to be ahead of Man City.

And BTW I really think Txiki has been working on our further signings silently & has been hiding it all behind the speculation about Fab. Like he did it with Maxwell during Villa's episode.

arsenal will never succeed under you . because you sell all you star players and keep a bunch of talented kids ! and soon man city will take over and you will be 4th or 5th ! your philosophy is dead ! wenger

No problemo, we will buy him a next season. Now we must buy Hulk for 30 millions + Henrique maybe, and Cicinho for back up

Rosell will sign him next summer. Cesc was never moving clubs this late in the window unless something truly unbelievable happened.

30m for Hulk? No thanks. This guy has proven little at the top level so far. He's yet to break into Dunga's squad. Anything over 15m-19m at this stage would be overpaying.

@bosnian
Problem with buying Hulk is we will have to over-pay him in the present crazy transfer season, we will have to buy another mid-fielder to provide rest for Xavi & Iniesta and also another defender at CB, because we really are short on them presently. And as Kluiverts pointed out he's yet to break into Dunga's squad, agreed Dunga is a little bit harsh on youngsters and doesn't start believing in them easily but even then should have at least considered him as an option for BARCA to sign him.
And more importantly, Hulk's game is a little bit selfish as far as I have watched him play, doesn't look up very often, always tries to beat the defenders all by himself,...

"their sleepless nights" !!!!!! He was referring to txiki and laporta ! those two imbeciles need to get their acts straightened out and get the players !! 17more days left !! cmon!!!

JEEZ they cant even be bothered to sign a few papers for victors loan move to XEREZ !

They might b remembered for their wins but certainly not for their signings !

We were really after Beckham in a similar way last time & ended up with Ronaldinho. Villa--->Ibra. Fabregas--->??? I hope it's another Champions League winner or a Ballon D'Or like Ronnie :)

I am happy this didn't go through but I fear than if Cesc and Mascherano are no longer available, Pep G. wont like any other midfielder and we wont buy anyone. We desperately need a strong, versatile midfielder than is cheap but good. Achile Emana, Andrea Pirlo, Beckham, Juninho, Salihovic and maybe even buying Deco back are favorite options. Pirlo isn't cheap but considering that we reportedly offered 40m for Cesc, we have enough money for him. I think we should also keep Guddy for one more year just for a little cover.

Although Cesc reportedly supports the efforts of Barcelona trying to sign him and his agent Darren Dein is acting as go-between between the two clubs, the player wouldn't be willing to force his exit.

Cesc, ever heard the phrase "More than a Club"? Tixi and everybody else please forget about this clown!

I would love to see Cesc in Barca but not for anything above 30 mil. He is not a world class player yet, maybe he will be some day. I think we´re making a big mistake letting Jeffren go unless we get a good substitute, our squad are slimming down by the minute, time to buy some good players Txixi (Ribery just give Bayern what they want he will be amazing)
PS All the players Iason mentioned are crap players this Barcelona for crying out laud

barca should loan David beckham in january because he is good and would cover the midfeild position and the american season and england manager capello want him to move to europe before the world cup would be a good idea i think and i think barca should buy kompany and Mata now and buy fabregas next year when beckham loan ends

Iason. Juninho has retired from football. Why not sign up Stoichkov too? The older the better.

Perhaps moutinho? He was a target a few years ago. Could be a good player for us.

we need a backup CM, simple as that. can kompany play CM? he played most of last season in defensive mid. we have busquets whom i trust a lot. but it will be stretched dangerously thin during ACN, when busquets, xavi and iniesta will be our only first choice mids.

Great news. Too expensive to be a rotation-player.

Hehe Stoickov, good joke.

I would like to have the Hulk, amazing player. He is little a bit selfish, that's true, sometimes he plays on his own, but he has something like Ronaldinho when he playes for Paris. Buying a players like him, who are some kind of artist, is always risk, maybe he will never be incorporated at Barca team game, but also, he's great potential there is no doubt, young (23 Years), amazing speed, tehnic, good sence for goal, good pass and very powerfull and strong boy. If Guadiriola think that he can be a part of team and learn Barca philosofy, Hulk is best player for us, i short time he could be better than Cristiano Ronaldo, Aguerro or Riberry.
I don't know people, when i whached Ronaldinho in Paris, i told my friends he will be the best player on the world, and they said you are crazy, same thing is about Messi. I have some sence he can became something like Ronaldinho, especialy if he play for Barca. With him left, Messi right and Ibra in the centre, with Henry and Bojan as a back up, Barca will have impresive and so atractive attack, better than last year.
Of course, Guardiola have to study and talk with the Hulk first, and if say ok, that's the best choice for my opinion. If we buy Hulk and expensive Cicinho or Eboe, we will spend abouth 40 millions and have enough players. Or if we could get Hulk, Moultinho and Cicinho for 60 millions + Guddy and Henrique, that is good job.
Season will be so long, our oponents are stronger, we will have some problems with injuries and Africa cup, and spending a big money for fantastic players who can play many years is apsolutly smart.

Next year we could sell Henry, Hleb, Guddy, Keitha and Marques, and buy Fabregas and one world class centre back, and we will have fantastic young team without a spending more big money.

Just cause Cesc doesn't want to force his way out does not make mean he doesn't really want to come he just doesn't want to screw the team that helped him get where he is today

although i do like Hulk as a player i dont think he will be the next Ronaldinho or Messi. The man is a Lefty with a big L(never seen him touch the ball with his right foot) which meens he´s to easy to read as a defender.

Too easy to read, anon? Wasn't Maradona and Hagi also one-footed? Or was it Garrincha?
