Guardiola will have 'new board' clause in contract

Spanish news agency EFE claims that Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola (38) will start talking about his contract renewal when the summer transfer window has ended.

Besides the transfer talks, Guardiola also wants the club to give priority to the renewal negotiations with Barcelona players Carles Puyol, Rafael Márquez and Lionel Messi.

Guardiola, whose current contract expires at the end of the season, would be ready to accept that in his new contract a clause will be inserted that would say that the new board that will take over after the presidential elections in 2010 will have their hands free to decide if they want to continue with him for the 2010-2011 season. Guardiola's contract renewal will be linked to the renewal of Barcelona assistant coach Tito Vilanova.

He puts the club before himself. I wish him all the luck to become one of the greatest coaches ever. Crossing my fingers.

He's leaving to coach Real Madrid next year, he should sign the extension. Who knows we may have a bad board but with a good manger like him, things will be fine. Makes you wonder

Rijkaard?!?!?! wat?!?!
come on...
NO WAY...
he won the club trophies but after that, his time was over... he couldnt motivate the players anymore and there was no discipline prior Ronaldinho not coming training...
there was no hunger and self believe in the players... and the press always killed him in the press confrences... he couldnt stand up for himself...

lets just hope the next person after Guardiola is another surprise package.

im hoping Guardiola does wat Alex Fargusson is has done... which is stay for 20 years or so...

wenger??????????????
hope, never see him at barca, as he's surely the most over-rated coach in the whole universe.
what did this whiny, always nagging, envious-watching-at-manu-and-chelsea, nutless freak win over so many years?
his biggest success (for himself) was to make arsenal english-free.
by the time he gets barca-manager, i will take a break, no matter how much i love this club, before getting sick of seeing the personification of inability and unsuccessfulness

Exactly- WTF is wrong with you guys!? Trap? Rijkard? Wenger? WTF would anyone want to change the perfection?!!! We just had a coach who in his first season won more than any other Soanish team ever. And you want Wenger, Rijkaard or anyone else? I must stop reading comments on this bblog, I don't think this is good for my sanity...

There is simply no way he can't continue. I don't care who the new board is. He IS the guy to do the job for quite few years. Losing him would be a complete lunacy. What else- should we sell Messi?

Fendreke, everyone has his own opinion so if ur just here to reject other peoples opinion i suggest u shut up.

rejecting someone else's opinion is also an opinion, lol

I'm not here to reject all others people opinions. I'm only here to present my own- which is rejecting those opinions with not a hint of sense in them.
Bring aback Rijkaard? Without Ten Cate he had no clue what he was doing. Tactically we were naive and he couldn't motivate anybody- it was awful. Remember 1:4? Now this year it was 6:2. Just a year later, WITHOUT Rijkaard.

Of course you are entitled to have an opinion and voice it. The same way I am entitled to mine- to say that bringing back Rijkaard would be an incredibly stupid thing to do.

"You better shut up"- now that was substantive...
