Transfer of Arsenal right back Eboue close

French radio station Radio Monte Carlo claims that Barcelona is close to signing Arsenal right back defender and Ivory Coast international Emmanuel Eboué (26).

Eboué could join Barcelona for a transfer fee between 8 and 10 million euros°. If Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola gives the green light for the transfer, the deal would be closed soon.

Italian clubs AC Milan and Fiorentina are also believed to be interested in Eboué, who joined Arsenal in 2004.

this guy is good..i doubt he will wana b a backup for alves.

and i would prefer alves

would be a good addition to the squad adding a bit of dept and can give alves a break every now and then.

Hmm i have my doubts over the authenticity of this story. But if he is willing to be a backup welcome to the club. He could be another sylvinho for the club if he is willing.

8-10 millions is maybe a little too much for a back-up. Same age as Alves more or less, a youngster like Montoya coming up. Couldn't they get an older guy, who's at the end of his career. In two years, Montoya can take over. Maybe they should sign Eboue on loan?

He would be back up for RB and CDM but he's leaving for ACN... However while Wenger is trying to dispose off all the African players from his team I can't calculate how dumb the board would be to make such a move. I don't want to believe this news at all. A player who's not fit in Arsenal even as a back-up I don't understand where he would stand in Barca. Better to give chances to our teens instead of buying this one for 10 million.

Randal... Its not that he isnt fit for Arsenal as a backup.. The only reason he doesnt play is because Wenger has other class wingers (e.g. Nasri, WaLcott) Etc.

But Eboue is a proven backup/ super-sub and he is capable of Rm and Rb playing..

NO WAY!

I can't stand this guy since he dived in that duel against Puyol in the CL Final 2006 in Paris. That dive lead to a freekick that lead to 1-0 for Arsenal.

do we need to buy a fullback everytime we open negotiation with a new team to get their key player?

i say 8mil would b worth it. if chy dude was gonna cost much more as a back-up CB. now puyol can focus on CB n rotate with marquez n pique. i'm good with that.

yuti said...

Ok, but 3 centre-backs for 2 positions is a little short, certainly with Marquez being very injury-prone and Puyol also aging. I don't trust Abidal in the centre and we need Touré in midfield, so... Muniesa and Fontas better get ready.

Kevin... He's usually played only as RB & some times CDM. To my knowledge, never seen him play in the winger position last year. But when the regulars were out he couldn't convince in his own position i.e., RB leave aside him being a utility. Had he been at least decent in CDM position for Arsenal last season, they wouldn't have been so horrible in the first-half. He couldn't provide cover to any body who was injured in ARSENAL. I wonder how he would do that in a TREBLE winning squad :O
More over he wants to leave Arse only because he's no more a firstie there, and I think he would agree to come here only because he would belong to a silverware winning squad.

Whatever the reason might for us to sign him, 8-10 million would be way tooo much & and I would be f*cking pissed at Txiki for that, PERIOD.

Humankind said...

This guy is horrible. We better not sign him and I don't think we will because this would be a step back for Barcelona. Plus a fee of 8 to 10 million for that guy would make Arsenal laugh all the way to the bank.

He is the most ridiculed player by Arsenal fans now that Adebayor is gone. They hate the way he plays and all of them agree that he is not good enough for Arsenal. So, I ask you or anyone, how is he going to be good enough for Barcelona?

Anonymous said...

I think this is a bandaid solution. As Puyi gets older, he'll be better backing up RB than CB. I think getting a CB would be better for the future. A RB like Eboue would be good for next season and the season after, but that's about it.

8-10 million is also too expensive. Reports were that Arsenal wants 9 million and Fiorentina only offered 4.5 or so. We should offer 6 or maybe 7 at the most.

If this transfer really goes through I'm sure I'm gonna kill some one... The possibility itself makes me restless :(
Oh dear Lord, please provide me with the strength to restrain myself from doing the crappiest of the deeds if the crappiest of the transfer deals really does materialize... PLEASE

I have one thing to say. WHAT???????? he is a great player but i would rather give henrique or montoya a chance. this is getting ridiculous

we don't need him.
8m~10m for 1 year contract left player is too much.

BOBO said...

He's not up to standard.

Randal said...

The paedophile is a fox... he's not willing to pay more than 6mill for Chamakh who's been quite promising a striker & is in good form. With the paedophile trying to shift his formation to that of ours he is definitely short on the poachers and that's where he should be needing the likes of Chamakh. The paedophile, should have either accepted the defeat that he couldn't sign the player or increased his bid, but instead he went on to say that Chamakh has only one year left in his contract & so, if he waits he could get him for free.

Now coming to the case of Eboue. He also has only one year left on his contract, he's second fiddle to every player in his squad, he's got to leave on national duty during ACN & more over he's not at all happy with the squad always creating some kind of problems in the dressing room. Despite all these, the paedophile is not stepping back on his claim of 10 million for Eboue.

Due to the same attitude, the paedophile missed out on Felipe Melo... who could have easily made Arsenal the most challenging for both Premiere League & Champions League. I say if we really get into this shit and do buy Eboue for 8-10 million as said then we should be the most dumbest in the business

Anonymous said...

dont buy him increase the bid for Cesc and get him for 35m.
Why do we want to add someone like that where we have long term solution in Montoya and Dalmau?
I say get a CAM and finish the transfer business.
8 million for who????

just get kompany and afellay and finish the transfer business.we dont need fabregas we dont need mata. we have something called the best youth academy in the world. use it. promote jeffren, montoya, muniesa, and fontas. and thiago and dos santos. we have too much talent being wasted in the spanish third division!!

Iason said...

Decent player and good backup. He can also play as a DM and LB.

Randal said...

Just get one of Kompany/Vertonghen & one of Modric/Afellay/Turan... We would be all prepared for the season.
BTW Vertonghen hit a SCREAMER yesterday for Belgium :)

why are we trying to sign a back-up RB when we need a cm and lw instead. Henry will be injured most this season on and off we need a LW pronto

This guy is great but not for 8-10, i prefer we give 5mil.he will be a backup and provide depth.i believe this could lead us to completing a deal for Fabregas. Note that Arsene wenger is a "Miser" and doesn't like spending big but rates his players really high due to the fact that Arsenal have less funds for transfers but when negotiations are keen,he is sure to reason up.Eboue is not a bad player,at least people should be objective.

I do think Arsenal have some amazing full backs, although not as good as clichy he is still pretty good.

bosnian_likes_barca said...

He's a good player, more than just a back up, but only if we get Fabregas too

Anonymous said...

Why are you guys so keen on Fabregras, he wont bring anything new to the team and for 45 mil thats almost what Madrid paid for Kaka

Anurag said...

@anony

fabregas provides amazing rotation options. the price quoted is 20 mill less than what madrid paid for kaka. and fabregas is also a signing for the future. thats why we all want him.

Max said...

He is very vercitle and can play in various positions Im from england with a mad arsnl fan for a dad so have seen him play many many times. Hes pretty good went through a bad patch bu came out fighting to be key for arsenal in the latter stages of the season for the right price could be a very good signing

Ander said...

well its a matter of time before fabregas joins barcelona. being in the business of transfer consultancy, i can tell you fabregas will most probably not join barca this summer, but as xavi is almost in his thirties, and with laporta looking to make a big name transfer before he leaves next summer, fabregas will join barcelona.

no we dont want him,i am a good follower of EPL,especially arsenal and spurs matches,i know this guy very well, dont seems to be the eboue of 2006 u al know,he is not good at all,pls lets looo for other option.

i've followed arsenal matches for some years and this guy has one of the worst attitudes i've ever seen, a truly horrible personality even his owned fans booed him off the pitch, please god let this be rumuors.

another african? wtf is wrong with Barca's front office? that better be a joke.

We need players that help us while Keita and Yaya are gone...

@ Gai
The one of the greatest managers in the history of the game is now history... What would one be called if when Ronnie is being criticized for his form lately, some one comes out and claims Ronaldinho is one the greatest players in the HISTORY of the game, so shut the fuck up!?
Look what he is doing to your Arsenal and then come start bashing on others douche. Explain me how even one of the mentioned things about Chamakh, Melo & Eboue is wrong! Get your things right, please.

Ander said...

i agree with anony. i mean whats the point of getting another african when he is supposed to be a back up. he is going to africa nations cup and wont be avalible for two months. and alves gets suspended or injured during this time, who will replace him? Puyol!

Gai for Barca1 said...

Firstly one only has to look at his record as a manager to see he is one of the greatest, although granted trophyless for four years is bad but even barca went nearly three. Yet he is the only manager ever to have an unbeaten season.

1. Do you honestly think that Melo would make a slightly lacking arsenal squad favorites for the Prem and indeed the Champs league....no i thought not a good buy for the price but tital changing...total shit.
2.Chamakh yup he wont be surpluss with both bentdner vela eduardo walcott and van persie in the squad so again ur point is slightly mooted by the fact that wenger didn really miss out that much.
3. Eboue. last season i saw arsenal nearly every game at the emerites and he played evertime...more often that not well. Despite a bad patch he was almost single handedly pulled arsenal from the rut with his double tally of goals for himself coming in his last few performaces.
So Randal here is whats wrog about your view and with all three of those players.
cheers
