Deal with Forlan

Madrid sports tabloid As claims, based upon a undisclosed source, that Barcelona has signed Atlético Madrid forward and Uruguay international Diego Forlán (30).

Barcelona didn't want to confirm the rumour.

Last Thursday, people from the entourage of the striker would have rented a house in Castelldefels, a coastal town in the outskirts of Barcelona where several Barcelona players live.

I think if you look for someone similar to Eto'o, he probably comes closest.

he will be second striker after eto, and will replace him till african cup ends. But if eto'o will leave we'l have to sign a top striker! It was something predictable..

Maybe it's just a way to put pressure on Ibrahimovic (for him to drop his insane salary) and on Inter (for them to drop their insane asking price).

Or it's As trying to put some pressure on Barcelona, like they usually do.

guyz dont freak out, guardiola said that we would sign a striker even if eto stayed, now if eto leaves it doesnt mean we wont sign another striker, forlan will come for rotation i dont think he comes to replace eto.

"skanjos" corect view

yuti said...

But where does this leaves Bojan then? He already didn't have much chances this season, so what will then happen next season when you would keep Eto'o plus sign another striker?

Engineer said...

If noone from our forward line leaves I'd welcome him with open arms, he's an excellent player and him as a rotational forward is.. AWESOME.

If he however is being signed as a direct replacement for Eto'o.. now that's another case.

I have to admit...I am a little disappointed... However how bad can it be to have 4 of the top 5 scorers in la liga on 1 team. He provides tremendous depth for what will be a long season However I dont see how he can help in CL we will see

if this rumor is true, which i feel it is. then etoo will leave and we will get a new striker, maybe villa or ibra(getting ibra now seems unlikely).

every decision laporta and guardiola took was correct that season. we don't know what's going on in guardiola's head. he already has his notes and ideas and everything he predicted exactly happened that way. so give that guy everything and everyone he needs for his plans and hell when will you guys start trusting him?

pep said...

For some reason, I'm not totally sure that Barcelona could be open for that, "i forgot my name(He olvidado mi nombre)".

I'm starting to think about this, and this really isn't that bad. The guy did win the pichhi back to back years. However with this signing I see the exit of Henry or eto prob sooner rather than later :(

I would like to know how much we have paid for him. Does anyone know? If it is over $15 million we are completely stupid. With all due respect We really need to be more ambitious. If he is a direct replacement of Eto'o then we really need to question the board.

La Gazzetta dello Sport says we've offered Luca Toni as well :P

haha i cant believe you think its true.

What's all the panic about? It's not even official yet. Calm down everyone.

If it's true, there is no way the deal can cost more than 10M. Not for a 30 year old anyway.

I do hope Ibrahimovic comes. Despite my doubt in him, still a huge fan of him:)

yes pep...not a good idea..was just joking... wish i could spy in on pep(guardiola) to get all the latest news.i'm so keen to know about the transfer news. i'm sure no one vists this blog more often than me.

i agree with je m' appelle samuel.

but if this rumor is true then either henry or etoo WILL LEAVE.

i have a question. realm darid didnt wn anything last year and their pergormance was below par so my question is that how did they get so much cash to fund all the new signings? and if they can get the funds(ard 200mil euros) why cant we get the funds required to sign ribery n maybe ibra(that is what the board wants).

i forgot my name(He olvidado mi nombre) said...

yes james...even goal.com-

Because our objective is to be profitable & sustainable. Trying to sign players within our budget and not put the team into more debt.

Real Madrid is able to get as much cash as they want by loans, like almost all clubs in the world. Technically so could we, but that's not our philosophy.

James said...

Goal.com just translates stuff from other sites and puts up their own headline. It's not too different from what this blog does. Except pep has more restraint and doesn't put up crazy sensationalist headlines.

And I use more than one source if possible and I don't give all stories a madrid twist...

the idea of forlan being a rotation striker sounds good to me, but if eto'o leaves i dont want him to be our main striker, i would want another top-class striker to replace him.
oh and of topic but by the sounds of recent ruomurs, it sounds like villa might sign for chelsea or madrid soon.

So Ribery wants first and foremost to be a Barca player.
According to a norweagian fan site Barca have been in discussions with Bayern the last couple of days.
But the discussions have been difficult.

A statement from Ribery says that he will drown among players like Kaka and Ronaldo in real, and that Barca would take more care of him.

In the end he joked: Perez? Who's Perez?

Anonymous said...

What bullshit. If we had signed him, why wouldnt we be seeing the news on the official site then? I expect Barça is proud of their signings (at least i hope so), so if they sign someone it will be on the site immidiately.
Hope Ribery will join us now as were not hearing anything from Silva now these days and Ribery wants to win trophies so he is defenitely not going to Madrid :P.

Oh, and guys, talking about Madrid, easy on all their signings. If what is rumoured is true they will have an attack of Kaka, C. Ronaldo, Ribery and Villa next season. Sounds fantastic, but only in video games. How can Pellegrini possibly make a team out of that. I'll give you the answer, he cant.
Perez is just obsessed with big names and doesnt now anything about football. I think he doesnt even listen to what Zidane and co. say to him.

Sandvik said...

Last year Barca didnt announce the signings immidiately. First the media annonced it, some days before it was official from Barcelona.
