Liverpool signs Barcelona youth coach

Catalan sports paper Sport reports that English Premier League club Liverpool has signed Barcelona youth coach Rodolfo Borrell.

Borrell signed yesterday a two-year contract with the English club and will become one of the coordinators of the Liverpool Academy. Last month, former Barcelona youth coach José Segura was already appointed as the new technical manager of the Academy.

I don't like it either, but we shouldn't worry too much about it. This has happened in the past too. And it can give chances to other promising coaches at Barça.

Liverpool steals our young talents, and now coaches.... Don´t like this at all!!

u can buy our coach but u cant buy the skill that was within the player since he was born.so if liverpool kids are natural like iniesta n xavi,i dont think theyll have a problem with or without the coach.barca's cantera has natural talents.like xavi, puyol, iniesta n co.
..

it was not the coaches but its all up to the player's natural capability.so stop wastin' ur time kop if u think that ur academy is gonna be early as good as ours if u dont have 10 little gerrards.

Jose Segura was a former yth coach no? He wasnt still working at barcelona when liverpool signed him. He was fired from barcelona since laporta arrived in 2004. So its really just 1 coach we have lost. My bigger worry is if rafa benitez uses these coaches who know players in barcelona to attempt to lure youngsters to liverpool. Besides that I have faith in our youth system. Coaches can only do so much, it is the players in the academy and the scouts that see good young players to offer them places at our youth academy that are the most important part.

Dani Pacheco was one of our most promising youth strikers. Along with Thiago and Assulin he was one that people expected could eventually break into the first team.

Liverpool signed him to a professional contract when he turned 16.

Barcelona sign young lads from all over the world also. Note, Ineista was "recruited" from the Albacete Academy. Dani Pacheco was originally in the Malaga youth set up. It's nothing new, the English Clubs are now using legislation open to them to their advantage just as Barca use "softer" work permit rules to exploit the non European market.

Iniesta joined at age 12 or 13 though as messi did, we didnt take him after albacete had done all of the work in his formative years. That is the big difference.

Comparing Dani to Messi is absurd Tengku. Gile ke? =P But yeah, Dani is one of the forwards I would have liked to see. I actually prefer his style to Bojan's. And natural talent isn't everything. It's coaching that helps build players. That's why Malaysian players suck. Because our coaches suck. hence why I'm gonna take my coaching course =)
