Barcelona contacts Liverpool on Benayoun

Ronan Katzev, the agent of Liverpool wing attacker and Israel international Yossi Benayoun (29), has unconfirmedly said to journalists that Barcelona has asked for the player.

Barcelona would have contacted Liverpool to hear how much Benayoun should cost but the asking price was not revealed by the agent.

The transfer value of Benayoun, who has a contract with English Premier League club Liverpool until 2012, would be around 8 million euro°. Barcelona would see Benayoun as an alternative if the transfer of Bayern attacker Ribéry can't go through. Atlético Madrid is also said to be interested in the Israeli player.

I hope this just is smoke. I think Barca need to strength their team with at least one or two quality signings for next season and Benayoun isn't one of them.

We don't want another Hleb. This guy is better than Hleb but still...

this is pure rubbish by the agent to get some interest for his player who has a bench role at Liverpool.

Oh ! For Gods sakes !!
Even Hleb is technically better than Benayoun.
RM sign C.Ronaldo and we get Benayoun ?
Come on !! We need Ribery. He is the Only and perfect counter for Ronaldo.

benayoun isn't that bad, but how deep have we fallen to consider players like this. seems my faith is disappearing more and more after the tonis, riises, now benayoun. wtf is wrong with our board. don't know from where real get their money, but would like to know where barcas money goes. we surely earned enough money to eat at restaurants and not searching for food in garbage cans

i agree with leondragon, i read somewhere that madrid will pay for ronaldo in 5 years (every year 20mil or so).one thing is certain we have less dept than them and we have more money than them. we dont need the reconstraction of the squad like them but i would apreciate if we dont go after players like benayoun..... go for great players or players with great potential.....next thing we are gonna be interested in kuyt or sth ,txiki has to move faster.....madrid is stealing all the good players out there,if they sign ribery and villa too we wont have many choices out there

personaly give me robinho instead of henry and ibrahimovic instead of eto and i am happy

Bayern have said if kaka cost 65 mill they are not selling ribery for less than 100 mill. So who wants to help dontate so we dont go bankrupt trying to buy one player?

umessi10 said...

Bayern might have said that only to keep Perez off Ribery.
Besides....i'm counting on the good realationship we have with Bayern. I hope it pays off ....and now more than ever !

barca4life said...

Trust me they are not kidding. And we could be as good friends as we want, they arent gonna give away ribery for free. Did u see the saga it was for man utd just to get hargreaves? and he wanted to leave openly. Ribery is still saying he is happy to stay if thats what happens

barca4life said...

Just btw i'd rather keep hleb

Benayoun alternative of Ribery ?

That shit sounds hilarious, isn't it ?

I know FC Barcelona don't have a quarter of the spending money that Real Madrid do but come on! There are players like Bruno Alves, Benzema, Mascherano, Robinho and Aguero offering themselves to us and we can only be linked to Benayoun? I like that he works very hard for the team but he just isn't good enough for Barca. We let Sylvinho go, Eto'o might leave for free and even Toure may leave and our replacement is Benayoun.

is it a joke?
its the only possible explanation for this article. there is no way in hell the winner of the treble is going to enquire about benayoun. like what lason said, barca need to go for those players who are offering themselves to us.

I'm a close watcher of Benayoun, he is a fantastic player, great ball control, pass and move, and a no fear attitude. Whether he's an alternative for Ribery or not, the guy is excellent, and I would happy for him to in the Barca squad.

Is he the next Hleb? hmm, Benayoun seems to be a little more confident in himself, he's got a tough cv, and besides Hleb was not given a chance to prove himself on the pitch, next season, he himself could shock us all.

v-lo...know benayoun very well too, he's very talented and skillful, but he's also a player who's surely not constant. you never know what you get of him. the reason why he never reached more than a benchrole at liverpool. it's a very thin line between his genius and his bad performances. and as a team with the ambition to defend it's prestige best by titles, we need faithful, skillful, constant-proved and potencial players and not experiments, because they are cheap. again, for what else needs barca all the earned money, when not to upgrade and stabilize the strength and potencial of the team. we don't need to massively spend the money like madrid, but we don't need also to behave like almeria, etc on the transfer market. maybe we are paying now for the dumb transfers for caceres or hleb, that is now dead money

I would agree LeonDragon, in that there has to be a reason why Benitez has not used Benayoun on a consistent basis, but having said that, Benitez is known for being stubborn, but like you, I know that Benayoun does get lost in some games, he's not a big name, big impact player, I do see him in our squad, but as a regular starter as part of our constant 11, not really.

I think Benayoun would have to accept a rotation role and being a fringe player, if not, then he's not suitable, I think Barca will miss the likes of Gudjohnsen and Hleb next season, we need those guys replaced too, by equal quality, non diva's.

If I had it my way, Ribery is the man, he completes us, and possibly Fabregas, Zhirkov, and well, Ibrahimovic as well, because these are all players which know they are good, and when we face the arrogant Galatico 11 next season, we cannot not afford to be beaten before the game.

LeónDragón said...

v-lo...no doubt that he's a very good player, for sure (saw him also at his time in spain), but it would make me more confident to see someone like silva, ribery, robinho, tevez, etc. know that they have their prize. but we are not without money. benayoun would be not the badest option, but compared to the others, i would prefer one of them. especially silva, the one i want to see most

i completely trust barca's managemnt. how many here ohhhh im scared manu wud beat barca wit 3 defenders this and that, so many negative comments bt wit teh ease n class manure were beaten it was appalling. bt stil doubts after doubts. how many last yr said that henry shud go? or this yr said etoo shud go? seriously shut up n keep ur cribbing to urselfs. we dont need riberies, ibras or silvas to save our ass. teh last thing i knew was a team like villarreal drew wit us 3-3 n in 4 matches against manu have nt conceded a single goal. n wt do they have? rossi? their costliest signing was 8m euros last yr they spend only 15m euros wheras received 46m euros by selling players. so i think playing as a team n teh chemistry matters more than having fifa world players or any other star player.

people keep saying they are lsoing faith in the board and stuff. idk why, this is all shit being perpetuated by the media machines. not by our board.

for me, there's not much i win by barcas wins, no money, no honey, just nice moments and joga bonito. was always loyal to this club, through good times and also the bad times. became a footballfan of this club now for long time, because of it's history, his legends, his realness etc. and as i enjoyed to watch ronaldo, romario, stoichkov, laudrup, rivaldo and all the other legendary players, i would now enjoy to see legendary players of the future. so sorry, if toni, benayoun, riise, hleb or others make me not very happy. to see a player like silva together with iniesta or xavi, is something i would appreciate. that's mine, nothing else...

whatever comes, comes. but my loyalty for this club, the most exemplary, most prestigious, worthiest, will never end. barca til' the end of time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
