Signing a left winger almost excluded

Asked about the transfer events, Barcelona sports vice-president Rafael Yuste looked earlier this week in an interview with Catalan sports paper Sport forward to the last month of the summer transfer window:

"The state of anxiety has ended with the transfer of Ibrahimovic. Our priorities are now a central defender and a midfielder, so we are ready to deal with the absence of Touré and Keita when they leave for the Africa Cup.

A left winger is almost excluded because Ribéry was the chosen one and if we don't sign him, no one will come. But we're calm. The transfer market won't close before 31 August and until that time we can negotiate. I think the future negotiations will be 'Maxwell' style, meaning without making too much noise and closing a deal rapidly."

I am salivating at the idea of Ribery moving to Barca. But then again I feel this same way with Henry back then. There's just no guarantee everything will fall into place even if a star player comes in.

I guess it's best that we play with Ibra first to get him acquainted fully before making another big change ala RM. That way we'll have continuity.

they want a "maxwell" type of signing for cm and defender. well theres vertonghen and maybe miguel veloso. can think of any def. though.

It's ok, we have Jeffren and Pedro.

he meant "maxwell-STYLE" as in no big fuss in the media prior singing the player.

and about the Henry transfer, it is obvious that he was suffering on all sides: personal (with his divorce), health (with the back injury), and IMO his motivation, i think he didnt have the urgency to succeed with Barca as let's say Ibra. Not to take anything from Henry, he is one of my favorite players, but i think that the season following the previous UEFA CL win over arsenal, not getting Henry at that time was the reason the following season collapsed for Barca.

pedro really impressed me last year and in these friendlies he should get more chances,on the other hand i wasnt that impressed with jeffren i think he needs to get loaned out.we also have bojan for the wings.

on cb i think we shouldnt move ,muniesa already showed that he can play very good ,and we have pique, marquez, puyol who are worldclass....also henrique and abidal can cover, why invest in another cb?also fontas ,m8 this lad is amazing and keep an eye on him,he is the next pique

on dm we already have 2 yaya and busquets, keita isnt a clear dm he is more like mc,we need another dm mainly cause busquets and yaya arent really dm too, both are very talented at moving the ball and would be a threat if they played in keita's position.here mascherano would fit perfectly.

on the other hand we can keep busquets and yaya at dm position and invest in a creative amc like fabregas(my choice would be diego but he went to juve)and play better cause imagine a midfield of yaya/xavi/fabregas with left iniesta right messi and ibra infront ....that would be awesome....

so in my opinion it would be better to sign a creative midfielder

Diego for 25M would have been the bomb! He's really one of the few players around I could see replacing Iniesta in the role next to Xavi without any problem.

I would have taken him over Cesc, who seems to need more space and is less vertical than Diego (on the other hand, Cesc has a better shot).

Diego sucks completely in defense. We can't have such a player playing for us. Diego needs freedom and the team needs to be built around him, and we can't give him that. It works in a team like Werder though.

I've been watching dutch league Ajax Groningen, so i must admit their recently signed De Zeeuw is really impressive, he reminded me Xavi, he has almost all needed skills for Barça. He bite the ball from opponent, technique quite good, creativity... Would be glad 2 sign him

Cesc does not have a better shot! Diego is one of the best free kick takers in Europe and he has a very powerful, precise shot. He can pass and has vision like Cesc and is much faster and a better dribbler. I think Dunga is stupid for not calling him up because he is the only CM that can be a play maker. A lot of people are dissing Dunga about using two DM so I think a CM partnership of Diego and Felipe Melo would be great. They can build up a great connection in Juventus. Sorry for rambling...

Iason: You will never see Diego and Melo form a partnership of two. There will always be someone more defensive than Diego beside Melo.

Dunga is just a chicken coach. You can't understand why he didn't yet get fired. So many great players to choose from and still playing so boring...

Diego would have fit in perfectly, but I guess they want to kep the spot open waiting for Cesc to return.

Central defender should not be priority. There's a bunch of defenders and midfielder should be the main target at this moment.
Someone mentioned Veloso, he could be good enough for Barca. Also, there's Meirelles, Moutinho, Hamsik. These players could be signed for a fee of 10-15M.

We don't need a winger with Pedro and Jeffren. Both were extremely impressive. Jeffren was unlucky not to score a second and third goal. He was fantastic. They deserve a shot.

I dont think ribery's wife and his agent would let him to barca but rather force him to franco cf. So we should develop pedro and jeffren imo.
