Iniesta thinks Eto'o deserves a statue

Asked about the exit of his former team-mate Samuel Eto'o earlier this summer, Barcelona player Andrés Iniesta has praised the Cameroonian striker in an interview with Catalan newspaper La Vanguardia:

"Everyone has dealt with it in his own way, we all have different relationships with each other. I can only say that it was basically something between the club and him, the players weren't involved.

We have to remember Samuel as who he was. History tells us that there have been very few strikers like him since this club exists. I don't even know if there has been anyone like him before, but what I do know is that Barça should make a statue for him. Samuel has been a key player in all those years he has been here, and he has been fundamental in all the trophies we have won."

whatever happened, without knowing who was right or wrong, for me, the etoo case has left a bitter taste

I think Guardiola deserves a statue more than etoo does, but i do think Ronaldinho and Etoo deserve some sort of lasting monument at Barcelona. They broke one of the darkest eras in the club's history, 4 years without a trophy, and brought smiles to the faces of the fans once again. We'll forever be grateful for our 2nd CL title Ronnie and Samu. No matter what else happened after we'll always remember the good times

I really hope that the Eto'o-case does not have any impact on the other players like Iniesta.

If they felt some kind of concerned about everything has happen and doesn´t think that he gets what he deserves, this could make them feeling sick about Barcas board.

Ronaldinho and Eto'o didn´t get the farewell they erserve, thats for sure.

I say, let us move on.

Iniesta dont you realise all Eto goals were "tap-ins" and you, Xavi, Messi, R10 and Deco made life easy for him. Anybody would score much more than Eto who scores 1 in 5 chances. Please dont let the "true Barca fans" get on your case. They might actually advice you to follow him to Inter or change your name to IniEto.

End of Sarcasm

Iniesta has played with him, he knows how important he was for the whole team to click. X

avi and Iniesta have been praising him the most over the last years and I think that's not a coincidence, they were the ones who had to link up with him and they both know it worked marvellously.

Yeah, Iniesta, go to Inter! You seem to love Eto'o more than the club! Good riddance!

R10 will get the farewell he deserves the day he plays at Camp Nou against Barça. I hope we meet Milan this year at the CL (plus they look like shit, so it should be easy to beat them)

sho you gotta be kidding me. it doesnt matter if his goals are 'tap ins' his a striker his objective is too score and thats wat he does best, his a true hitman and one of the best striker barca has eva had. one of the most underated striker IMHO

Eto'o is a very good player, but the evolution of the game is phasing out the great poachers (Pippo's, Owen's, Eto'o's of the world). This was most evident from our vantage point vs. Chelsea last year, and the rest of the bus parkers.

The poachers are completely eliminated from the game when such tactics are employed. People wonder why Barca had to pay the money they did for Ibra when the strike rates between the two aren't all that different, that is why. Negative tactics require all-around frontman.

Exactly what people said last year: we would never again win the CL with Eto'o as CF because we needed a bus breaker. It's not all that easy. Football is not a science.

All the fucking Madrid fans, stop bad-mouthing the saint Andres Iniesta NOW!!! He only mentioned that Eto'o had been a great striker for Barca which is a fact... Being the third highest scorer for FC Barcelona is no easy task. Even Thierry Henry said he would miss Eto'o. That's not at all bad.

Pep what happened man? This use to be the real site for Barca and football lovers...where did you pick up all these fucking cricketers? I refuse to come up here and talk about football with all these cricket lovers!

the answer is NO.

Iniesta must be out of his effin mind.

For me to get a statue you have to:

1. played your whole career at the club

2. be a cule through and through

3. be an amazing player

4. And you must have won lots of titles.

thats why statues are rare...because those type of players are once in a lifetime...Messi is on pace to get there. Dunho blew it.

A statue is a little bit exaggerated, but of course he deserves a lot .

But I guess they would later

Hey Pep why you let these Etoo cry babies spew venom on the good harmony maintained by barca cules on this blog. Just ban them so they could go to inter blogs and cry a river there. In any case Etoo will be a major FAILURE at inter and won’t get more than 10 to 12 goals this year.

sho...I think people got your "joke" but just didn't think your flat sarcasm was funny.

sho said...

You must be a bit unhappy then. "flat sarcasm" hahaha... good command of the lingua

And who is the "eto cry baby"? Iniesta? Its funny you all didnt call for Iniesta's head now that he thinks Eto is the best thing that happend after slice bread. We said, got slated, Iniesta said it, y'all kept quiet. hahaha

min ho, special thans for you giving the best example, how cules should not be, as i doubt, you know what this means.
to give respect to players and be thankful for what they did for this club, is not only a sign of sportmanship, something most here have, the biggest thing that unites and make people cules, but also common sense.
to give credit to a player, who was part of the success of 2 cl-titles, first after 14 years, la liga-titles and first spanish team that won the treble, 3rd best striker-statistics in barcas history, is what seperates true cules and also gentle sportsman from the-u-know-who-you-are.
i'm not dr. doolittle, but i try...the words iniesta said should be symbolic, like the words by casillas too, to give a player the respect and a thankful goodbuy for his achievements, as their was so much negative things said about etoo in the medias and at least, what a shame, also here, by some wannabe-called "true cules".
what sho said was also right and agree with him, was also not difficult to understand, but those who feel offended maybe realized, who was meant and that truth hurts.
take this example people like iniesta, puyol, pique, henry, xavi, etc. gave, think about it, as it could maybe help you realize what it means, not only being a true cule, but also a better person, that also don't speak about a failure for a player, changed the club, after he did so much for this, my and many real cules, loved club.
ONE LOVE & BARCA FOREVER to all "true cules", you know who you are, for the others, c u when u get there!!!!!!!!!!!!

cules in the future, even when most here disappeared nameless and their words became silent, will look back and remember etoo...will spell his name loud, being proud, when they talk about sawing him play, will remember him, as a piece of the best barca teams of all times!!!!!
