[2008] Ronaldinho on his last months in Barcelona

this post was published exactly one year ago:

Asked about his last months in Barcelona, AC Milan playmaker and former Barcelona player Ronaldinho has said in an interview with Italian sports paper La Gazzetta dello Sport that it has been a very negative experience:

"It was the worst period of my life. I was injured, I couldn’t train, I couldn’t play. The only thing I could do was watch tv. And the more games I watched from my sofa, the sadder I became. I never stayed out of action for that long before and I didn’t know what to do.

However, my family has protected me and has given me strength. But they have also suffered because people weren't just targetting me but tried to involve my brother Roberto, who is also my agent. They accused him of causing instability and being by my side only for money reasons and so many other thing just to hurt me. But we went on together, me and my family.

There also were the allegations about my nightlife and what I don’t understand is how it's possible that one day I was an example for everyone and the other I had become like Maradona when he was at the centre of controversy. When I am on vacation I do what I want to do.

During the season, I behave like a serious professional. But when the season ends, I am a free man. You should separate the two things and not mix them up. If you want to be a good athlete, one has to enjoy life and be happy. I give all I can to be a good player but when the season is over I enjoy life.

To reach the level I have reached, and even more to stay there, I had to sacrifice many things in my life, and I still have to leave a lot to be on top. But on the other hand, there are money and success. And above all, I'm doing what I've always dreamt of. It's a job, but it's also fun. I cannot ask for more ."

LOL...of course you can do whatever you want...but you can't come back with serious overweight and insist to play with 200 lbs.

Dinho was the best Barca player of all-time even tho just for a short period. He was amazing, he took us back to the top and won us game after game...

but the truth is he grew increasingly satisfied with his accomplishments and started to fade...

behave like a true professional? if he was given "freedom" during his vacations?...if my uncle didn't have a dong, he would be my aunt...sure.

I agree that Ronaldinho was amazing for Barca and it was a pleasure to see him at his peak but he let the fans and the club down with his off pitch behaviour and was very unprofessional. He could of been an all time great but unless he gets his mentality back that won't happen.

I would love to see the day when Milan Plays Barca and Ronaldinho just Jukes and shakes and works his magic on Barca..then all u ppl who hate ronnie are gunna cry and whine and wimper about it..and im just going to laugh for treating him like if he didn't do anything to Barcelona these past years

The picture showed every thing, he was one of the best players in Barcelona but every start has an end, I hope he will enjoy playing again in Milan and be in the top one more time, I am sure he is not dead, he still has a lot to show for best soccer/football fans just like me,

Ronaldinho is going to just sit on his fat ass. He will become so fat that when he falls on the pitch he will leave a crater behind.

I have massive respect for Ronaldinho. These personal letters to the fans are special.

I hope Milan wins something thanks to Dinho this season. He's looked great in the preseason. He can dribble again and his free kicks are great as always.
