Meeting Caceres-Poulsen swap coming up

Italian sports paper Tuttosport claims that Barcelona and Juventus officials will meet later this week to discuss the transfers of Barcelona central defender and Uruguayan international Martín Cáceres (22) and Juventus midfielder and Danish international Christian Poulsen (29).

Juventus sports director Alessio Secco will probably first meet later today in Italy (somewhere between Milan and Turin) with Daniel Fonseca, the agent of Cáceres, trying to find already a personal agreement with the player, who would be earning 2 million euro at Barcelona and doesn't want to take a pay cut.

The Italian club would only be able to afford signing Cáceres if Juventus player Poulsen, who has a 3 million euro a year salary, would leave this summer. Despite the interest of several English clubs, the Danish midfielder would like to join Barcelona and Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain is quoted by the paper as confirming that Barcelona is interested in the player: "The Dane is one of the candidates to strengthen our midfield."

Hulk! That guy is a funny player! I wouldn't say no to him in our team. He can play on all attacking positions.

i say hulk is the best option available ribery won't leave bayern and if he will it's for real madrid
silva won't leave valencia either...
mata a possibility and hulk is the main candidate to me

i hate Poulsen .. I hope its just a loan deal

He's a decent player, but we don't really need him. He's something like Keita: most suited for a 4-4-2 with two central midfielders who can do both defense work and some offense. For that salary, better promote one of the youngsters...

Well, it's perfect time to get some very good, young and talented midfielder. Moutinho is my choice even though he didn't impressed me much last year at EC, but his performances in CL are quite good. But, if Barca get a left winger such as Mata or Silva there's no need to push for midfielder because Iniesta will play his natural position. I'd rather wait until next season and buy Cesc.

And a word about LW. If Gai Assulin involves well in the team during preseason and make some eye-catching performances there's simple no reason to spend the money for a LW.

poulsen is technically and in everything else poor.
the only thing he know's, is to destroy...and i doubt, that he even made this job good, as he, at last only warmed the bench at juve.
for me, absolutely no deal

HouseMD totaly agree with you.

I would rather buy back Crossas than get Poulsen. This guy is crap. Technically poor and out of position. He is not fast. He brings nothing to the team. Crossas would be a much better option.

Rather give players like Busquets and Sanchez more playing time...

back to the hulk topic why ain't he a candidate for the left wing he's strong like rooney and fast like ribery perfect player!
who thinks hulk can actualy do it at barca? i really think he can :D

Hulk is not an option for Barca so no need to discuss it...

As a Dane, I can wholeheartedly say: Poulsen is a NO-GO! Horrible player, horrible personality, horrible all-round. #2 on Serie A "worst transfers of the season", and hated by Juventus-fans. Let's not get a completely superfluous player with no technique. There are currently NO Danes who are talented enough to play for this team.

someone can answer my question please why ain't Porto's Hulk an option for the left wing? i'm sure he's talented enough

My friends, I love you all...
From the first rumour of Poulsen, I've feared it would become reallity.
I am a dane as well and I hate him so much.
Not only is he bad, he is worse.
He is a violent psyko, I don't wan't him in Barca.
I would have to hang up my blaugranas until he would leave, thsi would be even more painfull after the signature of Zlatan.

--> Mander
Perhaps Michael Lumb as backup for Maxwell (Abidal out)

Oh, this would be a mistake. Even FM09 knows it's a bad deal, they've listed his preferred moves as:
- Dives into tackles
- Argues with officials

I thought that Poulsen is much better than you guys describing him. I remember him from Sevilla and I must confess that I was more eager to see him in Barca than Keita. He wasn't that bad while he was playing in La liga. If Barca get him on a loan deal it would be only because Keita will be absent in January and according to your comments I hope he won't get permanent deal.

Regarding Hulk, I don't know why should Barca sign him. He is not bad player, but I'd like to see Affelay as new versatile mid.

My suggestions for new signings:
DEF: Chygrinskiy or Zapata (Udinese)
DEF MID: Moutinho
MID LW: Affelay
