Transfer of Chygrynskiy becomes unlikely

Shakhtar Donetsk defender and Ukrainian international Dmytro Chygrynskiy (22) has played the second half of the Champions League qualifier between Shakhtar Donetsk and Timisoara today.

This means that the centre-back won't be able to play in the Champions League with another team this season, which makes a transfer to Barcelona unlikely (read more here).

Asked about the rumours linking the player with a move to Barcelona, the player's agent Dimitri Seluk had said earlier today in an interview with Catalan radio station Ona FM that Chygrynskiy wouldn't play this evening:

"Chygrynskiy won't play this game, so Barcelona will have two more weeks to keep on negotiating. At this moment, Shakhtar is asking 25 million euro°, a price Barcelona won't pay. So the decision is basically in the hands of the president of Shakhtar. Each day that goes by a deal seems closer, but the president will have to drop the asking price because 25 millions is a lot."

Is this guy realy that good?

Guardiola seems quite desperate for him, let's see.

We have good youth players in his position but I don't want to miss out on the next big East European defender! He can be the next Vidic.

Is this guy so much better than Caceres that we are willing to cash up 20 mill (when we really need a midfielder/winger) too exchange him with Caceres?

@wesley
this guy has the potential to be better than vidic... if he fulfil his postential he will retire one of the best defenders in the history of the game... hes got the passing of a marquez in him, out of this world positioning, amazing heading ability and reads the games really quick. I really hope we won't miss out on him...

Chygrynsyiy, Pique and Muniesa will form the utimate defending trio for years to come...

chygrynskyiy is class:)

don't know if what to think

If he comes, this could mean: marquez or piqué more as a DM, touré more as an AM and Iniesta more as a LW, no?

Don't know if i want us to pay such a huge sum, for a player we might not need (puyol, piqué, marquez and maybe in a few months time milito), while i think we are more desperate for a more attacking player (Hleb & maybe Guddy gone & Henry again a year older)

Don't forget about Henrique

Seluk, that's also the very talkative agent of Toure... :(

he was coming on start of the 2nd half. so this option is completely over!
we should focus on mascherano.

Move Marquez to the mifield and put this guy in defence.

If we buy him we can´t use him in the champions because he is on the pitch now. It would not be wise to buy him now, go for Mascherano

Maybe we will go for even if he was forced to play to save his team (they were 1-0 down in an extremely important match). Perhaps the price will have to be lower now that he is ineligable for the CL. I don't think there are CL matches when Keita and Yaya are away, so it is not crucial to have Chygrynskij for the CL.

We are not gonna pay more than 15m for a CL inegible defender and Shaktar wont accept only 15m.

2-2 five minutes before the end. Maybe we should hope Shakhtar don't get in the CL, then they could be more willing to sell.

Real Madrid had a choice to play either Huntelaar or Las. Diarra in the CL even when they already played in European competition. How come we cant even have Chygrynskiy play in the CL?

Anonymous said...

Good point groga, but I think their owner is very rich, so they can financially handle no CL easily.

fcbee said...

Because Huntelaar and Lass played in the Uefa Cup, not in the CL, Iason.

maybe i think this is good for barca.
we have plenty of CBs,we should pay money for other positions rather than collecting CBs.

We should move for Roman Hubnik from Sparta Prague. He is a wall and can play the RB as well, Panathinaikos fans will confirm this to you. But he is owned by FK Moscow. That would be a bit expensive.

Ok, joking:)

So what if he can't play in the Champions League? He is still young and we have cover for that position for next season. I say we should still buy him.

Anonymous said...

no need to buy him now.
waste of money.

Imagine if we move in for Bruno Alves instead now for 25m euros. That would be awful. He is 28 and we can't sell him again! I would much rather have Chygrynskij than Bruno Alves.

Thanks god I opposed the transfer comletely not bec he is a bad player but because we dont need to spend 25 or 30m on a fourth chice centreback if we would have signed him we can be sure we destroyed the talents of henrique_Botia _fontas_caceres and maybe muniesa and anyone of them would have been a fifth foice for at least 3 years before puyol and marquez retire I can understand guardiola bec he wanted another CB whom he can trust and not to be put in situation like CL final last year but beleive me signing a CB would be the worst decision in many years and i dont think he will be happy to be a 4th chice

thank god...

a bonafide scrub being overhyped and overrated by most fans.

what i don't understand is why uefa still ban players when the season hasn't even officially started. the uefa ban should only be put in motion when group stage start.

Pls get Angel Di Maria from Benfica quickly as backup winger..now that Hleb has departed..

1) i doubt he was to make first team in CL competion, ...even if he was, i still think we should go for him, as v still have a lot more choices...like pique, poyol, marques, milito..him not playing CL means, and if he is very good too, meanz he can only concentrate on league matches this season and poyol could be rested a lot more and would be available for all important matches
2)i m sure we are as a big financial muscle as real are..the point is we are not stupid like them, if they paid money to play las diarra...this gives us a reference point to make our case stronger
3) now he might be cheaper,

Shame. I like this lad. Oh well. Barça shouldn't spend €20M+ on a player who can't play CL football for another year.
