Works on new Camp Nou to start next year

Barcelona 'institutional and assets administration' vice-president Joan Franquesa has said in an interview with the club's official media that the club still wants to go through with the remodelling of Barcelona's Camp Nou stadium.

If everything goes like planned, the works should start during the 2010-2011 season, at the latest in the beginning of 2011.

With the current economial crisis I don't see if this is a good idea. Plus, I still don't like the design.

I think the design is spectacular, very Barcelona.

We discussed this in the chat channel earlier this season, it's drawn by an English architect.

Here's a link with lots of information about it, maybe it deserves an article all by itself? :)

I dont like the design. Camp Nou will lose it's traditionality that it has. This looks like Allianz Arena

its gona be like Disney World of Spain, too many colors, its fruity. doesn't look that aggressive at all.

The project is expected to cost 300 million and that would lower our transfer budget and increase the debts dramatically. And we are very stingy already now. But in the long run New Camp Nou would be beneficial for the club in many ways

just imagine when opposing teams bus approach the stadium with all those beautiful colours flashing and the screams of thousands of clues waving the barcelona flag and then they just walk in the stadium to loud noises of BARCA BARCA BAARRRRRRCA. how can someone not want to play for us lol.

Camp Nou looks ready to mate with Torre Agbar! http://economiaurbana.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/torre-agbar.jpg

Jokes aside, there could not be a more perfect design for the city.
