Laporta comments again on the transfer market

Barcelona president Joan Laporta commented on the transfer events in an interview with Spanish radio station Cadena Cope.

Villa
Regarding Villa, it wouldn't be wise for me to reveal how the negotiations are going. He knows we want to strengthen the centre forward position.

Villa is one of the options and we would like to have him... But there are also others and everything will depend on the negotiations and the prices. Our strategy is to look at the market and to work hard.

Eto'o
His agent and Samuel have said that he wants to continue and the club has offered him to renew for two more years. What Mesalles does, doesn't help things forward. Mesalles tries to involve the media while these things should be dealt with during negotiations. Eto'o has disappointed and saddened me. He should value everything what Barça has given to Samuel.

Cesc
Cesc has the Barça DNA and I think that one day he should end up playing here. He has become a leader at Arsenal. It's player who we all like a lot, the technical department, the coach, myself... There's always talk about him but we're thinking carefully about our options.

Agüero
It's an honour he has said he wanted to play at Barça alongside Messi, but we have a great respect towards clubs like Atlético and we will never do things behind their back.

Real has to start from scratch... And they are making debts. In the long-term we win sure. And int he short term too because it takes time to build a team.

Buy El Kun as soon as possible

skanjos said...

"these things should be dealt with during negotiations" exactly but if a press conferance wouldnt be announced would the board offer him an extension?cause we know that he wasnt a priority for extension and that the club would offer puyol /valdes this week a contract.

also "Eto'o has disappointed and saddened me"way to not give feed to the media yourself......

"He should value everything what Barça has given to Samuel" and the board should value what samu has given to barca ,works vice verca..

i want a transfer to be announced soon, last year we had 2-4 new players till now

The competition is not who could sign the most expensive players...
It's who win the most titles and play the most entertaining football!

who cares what real is doing, we still have a better squad, i believe !@!

Perhaps more worringly for us, ribery has declared its madrid or bayern, and in response madrid have declared they are going after silva knowing that valencia have said they will not sell both villa and silva but only one. If we continue to wait madrid may rush and sign silva and the villa and ribery dream for us could be dead if we dont move.

OFFICIAL:
Ribery has officially announce that he want to leave bayern...the sad story is that he said "Real Madrid or nowhere"

get sme players fast before they r gone

in worst case scenario we will get Forlan who can bag 32 goals per season, a type of player non of our direct rivals in La Liga have, none of the other 4 teams behind us in the standings have 30 goals per season strikers except Valencia and Atletico Madrid. people who panic gets on my nerves. last year we needed to replace Ronaldinho and a lot of signings in the middle. we got them. we needed to reshuffle most of our options on the bench too. this year we don't need any one but a replacement for Eto'o if he goes. that is the "need" signing. other than it is find players to help the coach to not need to play players out of their normal positions a lot in cases of suspension and injuries. please, for any god's sake, stop whining like a madridista after being humiliated by home grown Barca youth..."buy expensive players..buy expensive players" this is typical Madrid fagots attitude.

TengkuAmir10 said...

we didnt get a replacement for ornaldinho anony,IDIO*,we will never get someone like him.ever.messi just replaced him thats all.a replacement for him was never bought but it was MADE.

*ronaldinho

if etoo leave we need villa or aguero

Hodemen said...

Btw according to sum newspages Ronaldo beat a photographer and also a girl?

barca4life said...

We never replaced ronaldinho, we bought hleb in a panic buy after we couldnt get arshavin and we bought caceres for 16 million after we waited on garay who madrid then signed.

huh? what happened to my comment? is evrything CENSORED now?

No, we just had a little spamming problem...

skanjos said...

do we really need villa even if eto leaves?why cant we stay with bojan/keirrison/henry and go for a left winger?

why is the board so obsessed with villa? he doesnt have more than 3 years in top lvl,why not go for aguero/robinho who can play both left wing and striker

Barca will sign players when the time is right. there are many things that barca have to take into account. First of all, in the starting 11 you could argue that each player is one of or THE BEST player in their respective position.
Second, Madrid knows that Barca will not want to spend loads of money. So by spending large in the beginning of the transfer period they inflated prices; therefore I would imagine that Barca would wait till prices return to "normal" prices.
Third, don't take everything you read as the truth. Half the time the story is just speculation because football writers have no games to write about, so they need to make some story to keep readers interested.
Barca and Pep know what they need and want, everyone just needs to calm down. I want to see smart signings not power signings that mean little or may not be right for Barca.

barca4life said...

city arent letting robinho leave and as for aguero well i think they say he will cost too much

barca4life said...

pep i trust, its txiki i'm worried about

barca4life said...

EMD has an article stating that barca could have 5 centre fowards.Henry Etoo Villa Bojan Keirrison and are lacking wing players. LOL. But no i'm panicking like a madrid fagot.

Soha_TZ said...

It's official, Txiki is on vacation:)))

refter said...

I think he has been on holiday for the whole year actually... ;)

He deserved some after his good work but he shouldn't exagerate.

And it all takes so long, even the renewals of players like Valdes, Puyol and Marquez where there seems to be deal but it's not yet official after weeks and weeks.

ej said...

aguero cost 10 M more and he willing to play for barca villa prefer RM and aguero can play 8 years in top level villa 2-3 aguero can play all positions ....

aguero aguero

pep said...

Calm down, ej, no harm done. Don't get stressed because of a word.

Mahi said...

Yes ej we should buy Aguero and not Villa. He said he will never go to Real Mad

@Anony Villa is also a midget of 28 y.o but Aguero only 21 and better player.

ej said...

is the site off?

i can see my comments .

what wrong?

Mahi said...

Yes ej we should buy Aguero not Villa (for 40-50mil. and if 30mil then it is ok)

pep said...

It's not off, ej. We just want to limit the personal discussions a little.

Flippy said...

Err, EJ, when did Villa say, "I want to play for Madrid."? I believe he said, "I have made my decision." and the whole press somehow changed those words to I want to play for Madrid, but it could of been Barca as well.

Flippy said...

whoops I misread what you said

the longer barca waits at this point, the better.

teams that are selling need to start realizing that they won't get madrid money from barca.

as for kun--that will block too many other young players. we have kierreson and bojan as our (expected) young future front-liners. it becomes a question of aguero vs. bojan for that starting LW spot. Aguero's better now, but bojan's been barca's guy for a long time and that helps. Kierreson's not too short, so i'm happy with him as the future striker.

That future is why we need to focus on a player like Villa as our signing--someone who we can plug in to eto'o's position (when eto'o's away if he stays with the squad), not a future talent. some youngsters need to go elsewhere. so be it.

plus, barca's been much more tactical with its signings: we've got a need for front-line depth, we get kierreson and patiently work on villa. it sounds like villa's down to us or staying. that's success in my book. i'd rather villa than benzema for real or us...imagine how ronaldo and kaka will feel about benzema if he screws up. can a 20 year old handle that type of pressure? we'll see, but i wouldn't want to be a fan of that squad. plus, the counter attack possibilities...my god, the counter attack possibilities...

Laporta keeps dreaming without making a move.villa now says he wants to join barca according to a report on goal.com,i only hope his situation doesn't turn out like the Zirkov situation and all the great players dying for our club jersey.Txiki and Laporta are asllep as one of us just put it,maybe Pep needs to ring the rising bell.

Ono said...

Laporta, buy yourself a brain.
Eto'o has disappointed him? WTF? What the club is doing to Eto'o is shameful. The guy always gave his everything for Barca, even when they opnely said that he is not needed (last season). He scores >20 goals every season and he just had the season of his life. And what are they doing? Chasing him away.
Good one, Barca. More then a club, yeah.

Ono said...

We dont need Villa. We have Eto'o. It's up to club to start treating him the way he deserves.

barca4life said...

I highly doubt etoo is going to sign the renewal we offered. We gave him exactly what he asked for 2 years at the same level. lets see if he signs or not

TengkuAmir10 said...

u guys think it in a so more positive way.like "dont worry,we still have a better squad than rm"."we will still win".the fact is that although barca is the best squad CURRENTLY,this will NOT last forever, that is why we need to sign players like rm did.not 4 crazy prices but i say the only smart transfer for rm was

BENZEMA-41million
RAUL ALBIOL-14million

if we dont sign ryte now..then im not surprised if we lose our 'FIRST' liga match to u-know-who.

peace

trez said...

I don't think it was mentioned that he asked for two more years. Maybe he wanted four?

And he asked the same salary before the damaging operation in press, so I guess his price has gone up a bit in the meantime.

And rightly so, both because of the behaviour of the board and of his performances.

barca4life said...

Do not play games trez, etoo asked for a price that his agent said he wanted at the press conference of a renewal at the same value. His agent did not say anything about higher value at the press conference. He has gotten the offer he requested. He can either accept it or reject it. Dont try to move the goal-posts now.

trez said...

One: the years are crucial in a contract, so what if he says: "I agree with the same salary but I want four years?"

Two: he asked it before all the mess happened, before he was portrayed as the greedy one by the board. Would you don't change your attitude towards someone when he slaps you in the face and then afterwards, he's acting as if nothing happened?

barca4life said...

My point is the agent had a chance during his rant to say what he wanted, he didnt say he wanted more money. he had the chance. The board offered him exactly what he asked for before the press conference. Lets watch and see what happens

woo sah said...

i think its safe to say that eto'o cannot be counted on next season.
we need either villa or forlan to "fill" in for eto'o temporarily until keirrison is ready to take the reigns.
that means no aguero...sorry ej.
our future is not the problem. the now is what we're worried about.

trez said...

Can we at least agree that the years are crucial and that this wasn't mentioned?

So if he says "ok, same salary but four years", what do you say then?

barca4life said...

i'll be surprised if he said that, but yes years are crucial

Anonymous said...

bring kun!! messi and kun!! we would have even dreamer team than we had last year

Rory said...

benzema was a bad signing. Redundant and unproven in a top quality league (french league ain't la liga). Higuan's been a success and is the same age. Now Higuan's either on the bench, shifted to the wing (stupid move, because that means real has too few defensive minds on the pitch), or will interfere with c. ronaldo as a supporting striker.

albiol was a great signing. and if they get arbeloa, that will be impressive as well. but benzema was foolishly unnecessary and will likely be the straw that broke the galacticos' back. kaka and c. ronaldo added at positions of relative weakness. benzema its less clear.

real will either:
a. not be able to continue to sign people in future years because of the debt.
b. continue to spend significantly more than barcelona.

in either case, prudent, smart and selective signings are the way to go. No need for kaka + ronaldo + benzema +albiol + arbeloa if we can instead just get kierreson + filipe luis + villa. why? because our youth system is exploding with numerous players on the cusp of la liga talent, and real's isn't.

jordy said...

I hope you don't mean we must not look to the future but now?
Aguero would be great right now to! he is the most talented striker over the world, no doubt.
if eto'o renews for 4 years, fine by me. But i think he blew up some bridges with the press conference. Samuel isn't the most easy one :)

TengkuAmir10 said...

benzema proved himself a lot of times in champions league.that is enuf 4 me.n being ligue 1 best player for 2 years straight n is still young.that is neccesary enuf.ribery aint proven then if i ake ur word rory.

peace

ribery is going to real madshiat.sooner or later.no doubt about it.n alonso too.im sure of it.but i dont know about arebeloa since to me he is no world class defender.

but, lets not make this RMCFTRANSFERS.blogspot.com.cos it aint.

if we purchase kun...apart from the ridiculous transfer wage we're probably gonna have to cough up...what in the world are we gonna do with keirrison and bojan???

woo sah said...

if we were to go after kun....apart from the ridiculously high transfer wage we will 200% have to pay for him...not to mention AM will probably not let the face of their franchise leave...what in the heck do we do with keirrison and bojan???
they ARE our future.

i wish barca hold on both villa and keirrison this season

Marc4barca said...

you know it's strange how some barca fans actually question our motto, what makes eto so different from anyone else. if u haven't notice this is not the first time a player has been forced out of barca or any other club. you expect barca to be nice in everything, they are human beings just like us. many of you panicked so hard because kaka's signing alone that you would rush out and spend the same cash on the first huge star linked with barca. i give the board credit for keeping a calm mind through all of this and consindering ALL options before putting themselves in a dangerous situation.

let's forget every other player in the treble winning squad let's forget laporta and other members who are our best board in barca history and defend eto who wasn't supposed to be here in the first place. his agent heated things up now it's time for eto to handle things, he was offered a renewal whether it was genuine or because they wanted to start a conference but he was offered one right. why hasn't he relied yet? where is the eto that wants to stay so badly where is he?

real madrid signed 4 players but they were players not needed by barca which means all of our targets are still acquirable. whether they say they want madrid or not. the thing about madrid is that they think everything is all sweet and dandy but the truth is any huge club can take loans from banks any huge club can dish out 60-100 mil it's that not every club is so stupid. they believe they can regain it all with tours and shirt sales if real haven't noticed they aren't to popular outside of spain and they shirt sales aren't that good. kaka and ronaldo won't change that especially since so many hate ronaldo, if it was that easy bids would been coming in for ronaldo kaka and messi every transfer season not to forget that repaying some debt depends on how much silver they win within the next 3-4yrs. florentino is making the same mistakes as last time and he'll leave madrid through the back door again in more debt than last time. all i can say now is bring it on madrid. iniesta messi xavi pique and all others including the youths will break you down like never before

barca4life said...

Marc to say madrid is not popular outside of spain is crazy. But that is a debate for another day. I'll say again, i'm not concerened that we wont beat real you know, i have full confidence we will.

I have a concern that real will beat everybody else in la liga and barca having to travel to abu dhabi mid season and with the ACN (madrid dont have many african players and there is not guarantee that m diarra will stay) requiring yaya keita and maybe etoo to leave might drop points under the strain of all the travel and games.

I'm not asking for all superstar signings like madrid, i know that is not the way to go, but why are we going after a 25 million pound CB from portugal when we could have gotten albiol for 15? Also while we dont want all superstar signings, 1 or 2 wont hurt. I was all for zlatan coming in.

My main problem is how slow we are moving. The longer the summer drags on the more likely we have to purchase after pre-season training begins which means the new signings dont have the time to adapt and fit in properly and more worryingly the higher price we will have to pay for the players. Also the longer we wait, the more likely we end up with another hleb or caceres paying high prices (30 mill for the 2 of them) for 2 players who barely made any contribution to the team this year.

Xaviniesta said...

@barca4life, but isnt it what you're saying all along, that madrid with its transfers look crazy good and doesnt look like barca can deal with it? sorry but thats the impression created by these comments. i get you about the pace and all but can you blame our guys about that? madrid has upset the balance in the transfer mkt whc is why were now having a hard time why is that so difficult to understand? albiol is a good CB but could be in pep's eyes its alves that will do the job for us. not all players we ourselves fancy will end up with the team. you want ibra sure who doesnt he will solve our probs in the air + he's a strong forward who gets goals but can we pay what inter wants? we cant, buying at that price is out of the question. and forget your mkt economics, madrid 1st hirings threw that out the window.
