Picture of the day: Villa and Laporta

Barcelona president Joan Laporta had a friendly chat with Valencia players David Villa and Juan Mata during the Formula One race in Barcelona on 10 May.

was it a negotiation disguised as a "friendly chat"?

That makes me dream. Damn, would that be great.

If we can have the same spirit like last season plus these players, we sure would be able to enjoy ridiculously high scorelines.

i hope we can sign him but to be honest i'm fully contend with samuel eto'o!!

@PEP
Do you have any information about the Economics of Barcelona??

AS and El_pais did write about but my spanisch is far limited to fully understand the text.

pep said...

They basically say we have serious debts and that we're looking for now loans, but they're both from the same anti-Barcelona media group so you cannot know how reliable it all is.

bombastico said...

Thanks for the fast answer...

yes AS does belong to the kind of anti-barçamedia totally agree..
I did not know that el_pais fit to this group so thanks for that advice!

We'll see Barca usually did show their economic situation in their website..

The results for the 2008-2009 season will be presented later this month. The profit would be 2 to 6 million euro, less than expected probably due to the global crisis.

Joan Laporta: "Hey guys, David, Juan, do you wanna play for us? Surely you wanna play for us, Play for us, please come and play for us. You wanna, don't you? Play for us, that is.. Come on. Please, come. Play for us next season, both of you, either of you but really, both of you: come and play for us.."

What's up with that rumor linking Michel Bastos with us??? He seems to have a excellent pace, strong left foot and a wicked free-kick...Would surely be a nice addition IMHO

Mata might not be a very good idea... didn't seem any good in the recent confed. cup, not effective against buses and isn't he of the same age as El Kun? Every body was like against recruiting El Kun because he might hinder Bojan's and Assulin's growth if I remember right.
Anyway Bastos is lloking to be just what we need right now. 26 years old...would be in his prime form taking his age into account and 2 years down the line won't be much of a problem to give Bojan or Gai more number of chances.
P.S. Some one was saying Mata is like left-footed Iniesta...I mean were u sooooo wasted last time u saw him play!?!

this bastos is very good who don't kno check him out on youtube he what we need right now, but the way things look barca is 2 busy talkin than buyin any1 right now,i hope they real is not 2 take as a joke or we will find out in the end the hard way.barca4life

I read that are debts are = 438 million Euros

as pep said its a madrid site so who knows. However, the article does not indicate how much is long-term and how much is short-term payments that must be made. Considering we have been running positive cash flow for the past 5 years I'm not to concerned about short-term payments, however it would be nice to shrink our balance sheet given all the extra bonuses this year.

Although Pep if you could point me in the direction of where I could look up Barcelona's financial statement I am an accountant and would be able to take a look.

Mata is the kind of player that can help break a bus. He doesn't do any funny business and he always drives down the flanks with full pace looking for a cross instead of trying to dribble around 3 players. He is small but has great balance and a strong shot. He doesn't get muscled off the ball easily. He is the type of player needed to break a buss. A Mata-tall striker partnership could break the bus. Daniel Alves has similar characteristics but will need to be more careful since he still is a defender and. With Mata, Alves and a big Striker that can head the ball we can destroy the bus. I would like Barcelona to buy Llorente as he is one of the tallest Strikers out there and he is also a good finisher with good feat and wont complain to be benched for a few games. He is a better header of the ball and taller and cheaper than Zlatan.

Don't forget we already have a signing :D Valdes,Yaya, HOPEFULLY ETO :D...

I know those aren't signings, but KERRISON is. I'm hoping we do the same thing as Last summer. Sign a great defensive player LB, sign another midfielder, I really think Keita will be replaced once we get someone good enough. The only difference I would like to see is actually signing a LW which should've been arshavin, but for some reason every1 wants us to empty our pockets cuz we are barcelona. It seems the only people who do business with us are the SAMBA KINGS, but that's only because they never seen a Euro, and finally of course resigning Eto.

@Kambo
Not sure I accept with what you said about Mata but u just nailed it regarding Llorente :)
just offload Eto'o, get a good winger, play Henry as CF & get Llorente as sub...would be nice setup to break any bus :P
Don't know why all the speculation regarding Llorente to be signed by Barça has all vanished!!!Read hez about to sign a renewal with the athletic club linking him for 2 more years with them :(

Are they sure they didn't just add a digit to the debt by mistake?

Forbes.com listed our debt at 7% of team value in April 2009. Our club value is about €700 million, which would make our debts in the €40s.

Anonymous said...

Also according to Forbes, Real Madrid's debt was around €240 million, if you add the €200 million they've just spent they're the ones who could be sitting on €440 million worth of debt.

Je me'apelle Samuel said...

Yea that story is totally bogus. Barcelona are nowhere near that kind of debt. In fact we HAVE NO DEBT. I HATE U F'N MADRISTAS PUBLISHING SUCH LIES.

sorry i hate madrid, anyways this is how you do real research provided with facts. Barcelona Currently has NO DEBT. Barcelona currently has 12.8 million Euros earned from its operations from the past 5 years. Our debt was at 70 million Euro in 2003/2004 and as of 2007/2008 fiscal year Barcelona has seen its debt shrink to 0. We now have roughly 13 million surplus of our OWN MONEY. As far as I know we still have debts, but it's very hard to find reliable information about it.
We only paid back the bank loan we got at the beginning of the Laporta-era.

TengkuAmir10 said...

I can't read spanish barca nike. And btw, guardiola is the reason behind barca's succeess. And madrid are not 440 million in debt you guys.Last time i think i saw the news and it said that Madrid were 580 million in debt and with the spendings they just made will probablly make them more in-debt than Manchester.Barca earns about 450 million euros a year if i'm not mistaken.

translate it in google, although i think the news is not true
