International: Spain third in Confederations Cup

Spain yesterday won the game for the third place in the Confederations Cup defeating Sputh Aftrica 3-2 after extra time. Barcelona players Piqué and Busquets started the game. Both got booked and Busquets was replaced in the 80th minute. Puyol stayed on the bench and Xavi wasn't available because of a foot injury.

I stay by the fact that riera isn't spain national team quality. it was good competition, spain had some bad games and usa had their moment. with iniesta and senna in the squad for world cup we should bring back that balance we were missing.

@ mark : exactly , the liverpool players terrible . torres was good in the opening matches but started to stink afterwards , riera was the flop of the tornament besides toni , alonso was as inconsistent as a stock market , he didn't know where the hell he was plying at ( a DM , CM or a bloody AM ) .
the one thing aragones has that del bosqe does'nt is guts , aragones was never afraid to use the same tactic over and over and over , and he's not afraid to take important players off , del bosqe keeps using riera even though he sucked while ignoring silva and mata who are way better just cuz he's from liverpool and their from valencia .
did any one else besides me noticed that xavi clearly missed iniesta ?

that's because xavi is always the target for opponents without a player like iniesta in midifeld it's like he's playing alone. bob bradley said stopping xavi was key, he wouldn't have been able to do it if iniesta was next to him.

you made the point on xabi alonso on not knowing where he was which is why i was wondering why busquets was benching that match, there was no need to have xabi, xavi and cesc playing at the same time unless it was a 4-5-1 formation and to tell the truth we play much better with 1 fwd. i haven't lost faith in del bosque yet, after all it was his first lost since becoming coach it's best to lose now than in the world cup.

Why on earth didn't Del Bosque play Silva more? Is it because of the injury? It has to be, right?
