Asked about his situation at the club, Barcelona attacker and Iceland international Eidur Gudjohnsen (30), whose contract expires in the summer of 2010, has said in an interview with Icelandic newspaper Morgunbladid that he is considering to leave at the end of the season:
"I will look into my affairs when the season is over... Of course I am happy about us being in the finals of the Champions League, but I don't deny that I am rather unhappy about my status. It is very enjoyable to be with a large club, but it is not very enjoyable to just watch and sit on the bench.
I don't understand why my status within the team has changed this suddenly because I thought I was doing well. This is difficult to swallow and I can very well imagine that this will be my last season with Barcelona."

hey guys..
i heard madrid want to sell
- Arjen Robben
- Weseley Sneijder
- Drenthe and Van dar vart
is that true?
yes the only dutch international that is going to stay is huntelaar, even ruud is considered to be on sale.
Enter Hernanes. Guddy was in over his head from the minute he came to Barcelona. He is a good professional, but never Barca standard as far as technical quality. I didn't understand that buy from Rijkaard.
go get robben he is the best rm player and he wil have the change to revenge them !!!
Sell Guddy, promote Thiago.
Case closed :)
Yeah sell guddy and promote Gai assulin and Thiago :DD
Robben is good player but injury prone. Vd Vaart didn't show much and Drenthe is overrated. The best choice would be Sneijder and I'd really love to see him at Barca next season.
i agree with housemd, robben is injury prone and he is also selfish and that is not barca's style.. out of the dutch players in real i would also sign sneijder and maybe van der vaart both which have quality freekicks.
though it surprises that VDV went real when he and his father are die hard barca fans.
...yeeesss...finally...very good character,but as a player or substitute a no good...sorry,but that's my opinion...
Gudjohnson was always going to have a bench roll... he was supposed to be a replacement for Larsson. Unfortunately, Eto’o was injured and he was put in a place where he didn’t yet feel comfortable, the starting striker for Barcelona… it was too much pressure for him and he had no time to adapt. Since then, he has been put back in to his intended roll… as a sub with an occasional start to rest a first team player, or when a starting player is suspended… not sure why this is such a surprise to him.
...at chelsea,he was no doubt,a good, strong, powerfull player, but at barca he never catched the train...for both sides,it would be best,to divide...how pitty, again,he's a brave man with a very good character, but he never could convince,or change a game in positive way when he played...not because his not good, but because he maybe not fit for barca...at a long season with many games,we need someone you can throw in and see him change the game like keita do...i think hleb should go too, same thing...hopefully they prove me wrong...but we shouldn't waste to much time...
If he does leave, i will be sad. We need players like guddy to do the "dirty work" in a sense of the squad and be a squad player. A model professional, i hope we are able to send him to a club that he wants to go too and I hope he finds happiness wherever he moves to.
Agree with the last Anony. That's the story: he was supposed to be Larsson's substitute (note: Rijkaard really wanted him, while Begiristain wanted Forlan) but Eto'o got injured and he was suddenly first choice. He wasn't really playing bad, but he just didn't score. A game in the Bernabeu was the end for him as centre forward.
I never really understood why he suddenly wasn't even an option anymore as centre forward, not even as substitue coming in trying to change a result. He only played as attacking midfielder after that first half season.
I didn't think he did that bad. The goal against Liverpool in 2007 was for example a perfect finish, slipped through the offside, passed the goalkeeper and scored. Not many goals are scored that way against a Liverpool lying in their area with ten men. We could have seen that Gudjohnsen more, I think.
I dont know why rm want to sell robben! He is a great player. i know he is selfish but the summer training can change that.
Gudjohnsen isn't a center striker, that's why he doesn't play there. I never got, why we bought him for a position, that was never his.
At Chelsea he played either as a second striker, which is pretty much different than what we play, or as an attacking midfielder.
He, especially in his first season, never seemed to fit in the system, cause there's no space for him. He's neither the kind of creative player, like Xavi, which we need for the spot of the attacking midfielder, nor is he a center striker like Eto'o. You could see that every time he played there, he did the work a Barca striker needs to do there, but he was always behind the spot, were he had to be. He was, were a supporting striker is used to be, not were a center strike is, that was always the problem.
And, in addition to that, Gudjohnsen was never, not even in his prime at Chelsea, a player who scored much. Larsson was different, he was always a goal-getter.
get snijder he would be epic plus we would then have an excellent free kick taker. Would he come though. Also y the sudden RM clearout
Maxi
No Snijder
No Robben
No VDV
Promote are youth squad
Promote the youth or bring in some youth from S America. Why would any starter with any talent come to Barca. With the way Pep uses his bench - or better put doesn't use his bench if they dont start they dont play enough. Pep needs to change, or he will be destined to never having a decent 12 thru 20
