Because of his awful decision to show Abidal the red card which made the task almost impossible for Barcelona? How do we know that the so-called penalties would have happened with 11 vs 11? Chelsea have only themselves to blame, Barcelona certainly is not in the final only because of corruption or referee like this "Bar Deportes" paper implies.
the ref was terrible. around minute 60, he was terrible and chelsea loved it. around minute 90, he was terrible and barca loved it. in the end, barca got the best of the ref's screw ups.
bottom line: this guy should be embarrassed by his performance.
well i can say that reffs decisions was pure bs, but chelsea chosed this style of play.. even when they had 1 man more they puled out drogba.., they were happy with 1-0 they didn't wanted more.. so ther the punishment. 1-0 is very slippy result for a home game.., reff made horible mistakes.. against each team, so i think it's a honest result for 2 games.
ofcause the referee was bad, but hiddick exagerates : he's telling chelsea deserved 4 penaltys
but to be honest, the first real penalty was againt henry in the first leg. The other 'penaty fouls' were schwalbes. Then after an other schwalbe abidal took a red card. After that pique made hands oké penaty, but so what after all the the luck of chelsea (lucky goal, draw at camp nou, red card, not to many yellow cards for the ugly chealsea fouls) At the end we were lucky but we deserved the luck because of our brave heart
Funny how people talking about the ref completely ignore the game at Nou Camp. Ballack should've been sent off and Puyol's yellow was way too harsh meaning we had to play with a midfielder in defence instead of our captain. And let's not forget the penalty on Henry. You barcafans who think that we are in the finals because of luck with the ref need to reconsider, seriously, you are getting brainwashed by english media.
Pique's handball aside, I have zero sympathy for Chelsea for two reasons. First, as other people have said, both teams were screwed by the ref in a number of ways. Second, Chelsea players, especially Drogba and Anelka, were diving and flopping and faking injuries all over the field throughout the entire game. When they showed replays of some of the supposed fouls, you could see just how absurdly easily Drogba was going to ground. When you do that repeatedly, it makes it very hard for a ref to give penalties to the players he knows have been diving throughout the game. Maybe if Drogba, who we all know has the strength to stay on his feet, only went down when he was actually fouled, I would have more sympathy when a ref chooses not to award a penalty when he goes to ground. The ref was a "F#$%ing disgrace," but so is Drogba.
Very disappointed to see this on this blog. It's just going to encourage all those irate English fan who lack objectivity to a dangerous degree.
This from soccernet: "Controversial referee Tom Henning Ovrebo was understood to have been smuggled out of the country by police after receiving a number of death threats."
We all know that we only ever hear about the bad refereeing decisions that go AGAINST English teams, those the other way are very soon forgotten (anyone who saw the Tevez on Hulk tackle in the box for Porto at ManUnited, for example, would know what I mean).
Let's face it, if the decisions had been the exact other way around, the only thing you would have heard about was how the ref changed the game by awarding a stupid red card.
As an English speaking Barca site we have a duty to be a little more objective than the British press, and not to get sucked into what could be viewed as tacit acceptance of their biased and, as the death threats show, even dangerously incendiary views.
Chelsea players and fans were smiling at the refs performancce in the 1st leg. Talking about how Barça was crying too much and waving imaginary cards in the air. Well who's crying now? No sympathy!
I have zero sympathy for Chel$ea. May be Drogba should have finished the game for his team instead of diving. That aside, he is also frustrated because all the time he wasted on the ground faking injuries translated into a long extra time that came back to bite their ass. It couldn't be any sweeter!
This doesn't come lightly to me, Pep. Sorry. I can see the humor (in reference to the English fans' claims) and I guess it's a pretty good mock up of a soci's membership card, but I think this post just generates too much negativity against Barça. It'll just encourage the not so smart posters to fill in more filth.

Sorry but I don't quite agree.

I think this is so over the top that it can only help making people realize that they're acting ridiculous, Meursault.
