Pedro: "My goal was a little lucky"

Barcelona player Pedro took part in yesterday's super cup game game against Athletic Bilbao and shared his thoughts with journalists after the match:

"I'm very happy with the goal I've scored and to have contributed to the victory. The team's performance has been the most important thing though.

I'm working well and thanks to my team-mates, I'm having some luck and I score goals. I hope to continue like this. My goal was somehow lucky. I hit the ball and it worked out well. 1-2 is a good result and I hope the team does well in the Camp Nou so we can win this first trophy."

Well, better you than inferior players such as Jeffren and Godgjunsen.

technically, all goals are lucky. you dont know its going in until it does.

it was a great strike, and i am really pleased to see that pedro is turning into an apt replacement for messi on the right flank when needed

I think that if he keeps playing he can become a very good winger. He had a bad match yesterday but he is much better than people think.

He also gave the assist on Xavi's goal, don't forget. He was decisive, definitely. Pedro will never be world class I think, but looks like he could stay in Barcelona for many years anyway. Abit like Gabri did.

No anony, i am sure he will be a world-class star player one day. He just needs to secure more playing time or else some other clubs will snatch him. He has time on his hand to refine his overall play. I kind of see him as a "Van Persie" kind of player. Decisive and full of confidence.

Mido: Busquets. But remember that we play a fast passing game based on technique. Smaller players have an advantage over taller players in such a system, so that's why.

Pedro just proved why we shouldn't be looking to buy mediocre players from outside, i mean we bought hleb for 15 mill last season so he could be a backup for henry and messi but did hleb ever play one match asa good pedro did last night or infact the whole preseason? no...

he(hleb) had all the qualities to succced at barca technique, skill, pace, dribbling, creativity but still he failed to fit in our system and not to forget caceres and henrique but pedro on the other hand was grown in this system and just look how easily he has fitted into our system.. that is the reason i keep saying we don't need mediocre players from outside.. if we get we should get world class players and if not nobody and already spent a LOT of money this season and i don't think we have enough money left so i'd rather go with the you than buy mediocre players....

messi, henry backup:- pedro, jeffren
xavi backup:- jonathan, thiago
toure, keita backup during AFN:- busi, oriol romeu
puyol backup:- muniesa, fontas

Sachin. Pique and Keita was bought last summer and they were not world class players. You just pick and choose examples that fit your argument, and ignore the other examples.

Hleb was never a winger, so why you say he had all the qualities to succeed on the wing for Messi or Henry who are totally different players, is beyond me.

Barcelona Atletic didn't manage to get promotion from third division, do you really think the players there are good enough to beat Chelsea, Valencia and Liverpool?

barca atletic are a team, we are talking about individuals, if atletic were good enough to beat chelsea they be known as barca! when madrid are spending a quarter of a billion euros i'm proud that barca are bringing through their youth players, we can't rely solely on the atletic team but jeffren, munsiesa, fontas, jonathan, maybe thiago though i havent seen him play much so not sure, thats five players that have the quality to fill in when needed, bring in one maybe two more signings like kompany then are squad IS good enough.

We are basically talking about more than half the team, SJP. Look at Sachin's list. What did Jeffren do in the third division last season that makes you so sure he can handle the top class full-backs in the world? How many goals did Jeffren score in the third division? Please, our youth system is great, but don't overrate them.

And why do you want Kompany? What has he done to deserve a Barcelona contract? What is the point of buying players who are already at rich clubs, when the price will be 10 times higher. Kompany isn't Barca material. He was very average for Hamburg after the injury, that's why they decided to sell him cheaply (6m euros).

Dunno why but Pedrito looks a bit like C-Ron in that pic. Bojan looks a lot beefier!

All barca youth products have similar qualities as we can tell. fast, good at keeping the ball, quick rotations(the ball & positions), and have good technical skills. The likes of Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Bojan, Jeffren, Jonathan, Pedro... they all share those things. and therefore, it makes it possible for the coach to put them anywhere. it makes barca very versatile and flexible to change. agree with others about pedro and jeff can sub for henry and messi.
