Ibrahimovic: "I'm angry I missed two chances"

Barcelona player Zlatan Ibrahimovic made his debut in yesterday's friendly game against Manchester City and shared his thoughts with journalists after the match:

"I'm very happy, I had a good feeling and the public was fantastic. I wanted to score though, I'm angry that I missed two chances.

Messi? He's a fantastic player. He gives you very precise balls and he has an incredible technique.

I need to play more and find the rhythm. It will come... I try not to think about the pain in my hand. I'm recovering from an operation and I have to go step by step. It affected me a little but in the end, I play with my feet and not with my hands."

Remeber when i wrote that man city is exactly the kind of team we need to play against befor the CL begins? I knew this was coming..i was not expectin a lost but i knew it will never be easy because barca always have problem beatin EPL teams! Let´s put the CL final against man utd by side..although man utd were killing us in the first 10min!

They don´t call it the best (strongest)league in the world for noting..iam a pure barca fan but u have to respect the EPL. their tackling are superb and very accurate and i think messi must have noticed the most! 99% of his runs are always blocked, stopped or tackled!

When it comes to technique they are not even in our univers every knows that but when it comes to tactical defence u need to have very very gud ideas to brake through their walls, ideas which iniesta and xavi mostly bring along with them! But we should forgest that city weren´T playing with robinho, adebayor, michah richards etc.

it is really sad losin a game but losing expacially against an english oppenent will keep the players feet on the ground!

imo even if we get a record of 30:4in the next 5games that will not change anything at all not even a bit...until we beat an EPL team again!

in canse you didnt notice we dominated and we lost cause we where unlucky

wanted47 said...

yeah we were dominating..like we always do!

Brimwa said...

did u see the team we played in the 1st half....it was full of Barca youngsters...do u really think we had lost if we played our 1st team like they did?!?!?!

fcbee said...

We played with a B-team, no need to draw big conclusions. We won our first big game of the season on Sunday, that's what counts.

wanted47 said...

i never think of losin! it´s just this "always" bad luck when it comes to EPL teams even if we dominating. the outcome is mostly a tight win, a tight draw, or a tight lose! apart from the CL final

wanted47 said...

every smart barca supporter knows what it means when it comes to EPL opponent..but as fcbee said..it´s just a friendly with the b-team..so keep cool!

Anonymous said...

I don't give a s* that we lost a friendly game.

fcbee said...

What do you want? Us beating the best teams in the world with 5-0 every time?

And it's the same the other way around: if they play us it's also "mostly a tight win, a tight draw, or a tight lose". You win some, you lose some, that's life.

Well this game was a Nice WarmUp for young Players.
75% of our team was from B Team.
I really like dos santos.Ohh he reminds me of so much of deco.
Somehow i also like henrique.
Cmn,Pep he is not too bad.
Give him some time to prove himself.

Do you guys understand what "wanted 47" is trying to say? He is just saying we seem to have problems against EPL teams. I am sure the cadets would blow away some othe teams like Benfica and co.
I undertsand its a friendly but a win would have been nice. And did you hear that Sparjy also said he gave his younger boiz a run out and didnt start with his "stars".

Our yong player have great potential, there is no doubt, but if we want have a tittles again, we must buy two good worldclass players, left wing and central middlefielder. Robben, Mancicni or Hulk for the wing, and Moutinho, Sneider or Aimar for he CM.

We could have three young players maybe in squad, and Pep can give them enough time for impoving because season is so long and there will be a place for everybody

any comment on how's ibra played last night?

Anonymous said...

wanted47 hasnt got a clue at all, sad.

@309

ibra showed his potential. you can play the ball in his feet and u can be almost sure he will either hold it or pass it back or combine one touch.

samuel etoo often just lost the ball because of his weak technique

you gotta say tho samu was a great tap-in striker and he had some flashy turns and quick shots

either way if zlatan adapts well he can score the same amounts of goals or more than samu, and probably assisst with alot more as well as granting more ball possession in the final third

I was very impressed with a few of the youngsters, especially Gai, Thiago and Dos Santos. Gai is a real live wire and i can see him being useful in the first team. Likewise Thiago seems well tuned into the other players and can cause problems for defenders. Dos santos is nothing like his brother. He seems like a Xavi/Deco kind of player. Future looks good for Barca.

bosnian_likes_barca said...

Zlatan will be great, jast need some games. Last night he looks cofused sometimes, but that's normal for first game.

wanted 47 made a good point, it wasnt that we cant play EPL teams its just that we do struggle against them because of the 'park the bus' mentality. after completely out-playing united all the EPL teams will play like this. mind you if valdes had been in goal the chances of petrov scoring the one-on-one would have drasitcally reduced. youngsters did well, fontas is also good enough for 1st team.

as for sparky resting his star players, b**locks, stephen ireland is city best far by a country mile.

how on earth guardiola starts the starting 11.should have started with our stars and bring on our youth players in the 2nd 45m.I'm sure we would've won the match.c'mon guys any decent coach can win titles with our starting 11.a good coach{guardiola} is d 1 who can manage a win without your stars.did he win any match last season without our stars? maybe 1 match.his tactics against chealse in the semi-final was horrible.we won with iniesta's historic strike at the death.guardiola is being over hyped big time n moreover he things whatever he touches will turn to gold.i've got nothing against him unlike he had with some of our players and it was barcelona who won the treble...not guardiola..

Andréssibraviqué said...

@ simply barca
I agree to some extent that Guardiola is being hyped a bit too much, but that's that and would agree to no more of the shit you have uttered
He does NOT think whatever he touches would turn to gold. He's the symbol of humble nature. Remember not once had the team or even the president for that matter has come out and said that the team is doing excellent and would fear none. NOT ONCE!
And it's not that he's not good at tactics. He changed a LOT of games last season by getting appropriate players at right time. Excellent example for that would be Messi coming on for semi's in CDR and changing the game. A manager who's not good at tactics does not get a team from 4th division to second division. Just look at some of the facts before you start blabbering. Now if you want to start an argument I would request Pep to ban you from the blog forever. Pep are you watching this, please?

Simply barca let me ask you this how many games would fergie win without ronaldo rooney vidic and van de sar? Man Utd had a rough patch last season when they were missing first team players. All teams struggle when they miss key players.

And Guardiola decided to rest xavi last night because he knows we have a ridiculously long season and he would rather win the Spanish Super Cup and Sunday and the UEFA Super Cup on Friday rather than a friendly competition that we created.

As for your last comment about Guardiola getting his tactics wrong against Chelsea, this seems to be something new that people are coming up with that I have heard before. Let me ask you this according to you the players won the treble not guardiola so wasnt it then the players (like hleb who missed an easy goal at the end of the first leg, bojan who missed an easy header also at the end of the first leg and etoo who was missing for both legs) that didnt do well against chelsea? Also dont forget we had no Marquez No puyol no henry and were forced to use Yaya as a CB against chelsea despite which we still advanced. So it isnt as if we had a full team to choose from.

Finally if it is the players and not guardiola that won the treble why didnt frank rijkaard the season before with Henry Bojan Messi Etoo Iniesta Yaya Xavi Puyol Marquez Abidal Valdes win the treble? He had almost all of the players that Guardiola had. Shouldnt he have at least come close to a treble with all of those players?

It was half of the C - Youth team and B Team, that shows how much Barcas youth team, and senior team crushes all other teams.. Even the Youth team plays the shit out of English top teams, just look at this match and the preseason.

@andressibravique
my fren tell me honestly would u like to loose against almeria or man city? i'm sure u woudn't. as 4 me i would take almeria any day.i simply cannot take loosing to any damn EPL team.yes it was a freindly i agree but it was still J.P trophy so its just that.had we started with our star player...specially messi..we would be kissing the J.P trophy..barca is everything 4 me.so as 4 u surely..sorry if u r hurt with some of my comment.

Andréssibraviqué said...

I agree we should win against some smaller teams but NOT at the cost of injuries to the main team players & that too not when it's a friendly. Of course since its the Gamper, some of the fans' sentiments are at stake but IMO players fitness(I'm sure Pep also opines the same looking at the line-up), considering all the hectic, is at a level higher compared to the friendly trophy that WE organize. PLUS consider the confidence boost the kids might have had after playing in front of 95,000 crowd in CAMP NOU & putting up a very good performance. These things matter a LOT, and there's a reason our Cantera is considered the greatest :)

Marc4barca said...

the trophy is meaningless.. with the season about to begin and no new signins likely to come we had to test our youngsters against manc to see who can fill the void. yea we lost so what if it doesn't matter to the players and coach it doesn't matter to me. all guardiola was talking bout after the match was how zlatan and other youths play cause that was his goal. pedro, muniesa, fontas, thiago will probably get the call up. didn't mention jeffren as i hear gaurdiola isn't impressed enough with him.

oh and one more thing, would alves plz stop taking freekicks he doesn't seem to have that sevilla dead ball situation form yet.

barca4life said...

Look it doesnt matter if we lost to man city. Would you rather win the Joan Gamper trophy and lose the league by 1 point to real madrid because we lost to almeria? Or would you rather lose to Man City in a meaningless competition and win La Liga or the Spanish Super Cup that is on Sunday.

Pep already has a tiny squad as it is. We dont need to tire ourselves out to win a trophy in a friendly competition that we made up ourselves. Xavi needs to rest he has played over 100 games in the past 2 years and in the off-seasons as well for Spain.

Dont worry when we win the important trophies you will be glad pep gave up this meaningless friendly

simply barca said...

@barca4life
its not that how many SEF wins or not with his stars...my point is just that a good manager should have the quality 2 win when things get tough...something special..i'm not saying guardiola is bad..nothing of that sort.yeah..i agree with ur points.its just that i don wana loose against any english team at any cost..

barca4life said...

Trust me I understand what you are saying and I want us to beat the english teams just as badly as you do but you have to pick your battles. Makes no sense beating english teams in friendlies at the expense of more important battles later on. We will get our chance in the Champions League. dont worry.

simply barca said...

@barca4life
1 more point i would like 2 ask u is that..dont u thing we could have played caceres(he is not that bad n sometimes we have 2 trust him since he is a natural cb) n let yaya play in his position n that is where i feel guardiola lacks confidence sometimes n who knows yaya could have produced a screamer something like essien maybe in 65th min n we could've avoided all those crap from english fans coz it still hurts the way we played b4 iniesta last sec strike n specially ANDY commenting..where r all those magic football from barca?with his weird voice really annoying.i know its over but no barca fan can forget that chelsea cl.sf.saga from epl fans apart from iniesta wonder strike..

Anonymous said...

that's okay my friend. We will get back at them. I sure hope so. I sincerely think so with a very tall target man that we have right now in our squad, who's is also great at free-kicks. Could some one kick Alves' ass and warn him not to step anywhere near free-kick spot any more please!?
And also Pep is looking to get a player who should be good not only at defending but also add an extra dimension for our attack with his potential scoring threat during free-kicks and corners--->Chyhrynskyi

barca4life said...

Honestly i thought yaya should start at DM for the Chelsea clash but it worked out in the end. Seeing how yaya dealt with drogba was one of th best things about that clash

Dude , u seriously dont know wat the fuck your talking about.
"They don´t call it the best (strongest)league in the world for noting" - Who is the "they" ? lol.. Ill tell u who it is.. its the english press. The only thing the EPL has that other leagues lack is the fucking money.
Did u even see the game ? We completely dominated the game with 75% of the youth players. The midfield battle between the two teams was a joke. For them only Ireland was pretty good. My favourite moment was when YAYA absolutely outmuscled Barry in midfield. Fantastic. The only problem was we lacked finishing. Which is alright because Ibra was a lil rusty. And as far wat u said about messi ,
"and i think messi must have noticed the most! 99% of his runs are always blocked, stopped or tackled! " Wat do u expect when u have 3 defenders on him at all times. lol ? Even with that he did really well to feed ibra most of the time. Remember , we dint have our 2 midfield generals. There is no doubt in my mind we would beat them 3-0 at least with the same squad mid season.
Visca EL BARCA !

I guess scoring tap-ins isn't as easy as everyone thinks they are. Eto was a master at it and would have scored in the game. We got in shooting positions many times but they all waited too long to shoot except Messi. And Eto is a great finisher, he just went through really bad form in the end of last season but when on form, he is just as clinical as David Villa.

he should be mad those were half assed attempts to score. no matter its just his 1st game tho a lot could still improve. hes obvio nervous. comon ibra!
