Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona has reactived yesterday the plan to sign Atlético Madrid forward and Uruguay international Diego Forlán (30).
This happened after the news came that former Valencia president Vicente Soriano could return to the presidency on Monday and would in that case stop all outgoing transfers.
As a consecuence, Barcelona would have contacted the agent of Forlán, whose contract with Atlético expires in the summer of 2011, to inform him that they are again considering the transfer of the Uruguayan.

Great !!
Signing a 30 yr old striker who is technically weaker than Eto'o.
I really hope teh Villa deal will go through
Vicente Soriano could and most probably will accept the villa bid.i personnaly think.Because Llorente rejected the villa bid and said that villa will only go if there is a MEGA offer BUT Vicente did not have the same opinion and did not say anything about David. So for now,i think Forlan is just a rumour to put pressure on David Villa and to make him force his way out. After all,Valencia is now 560million in debt and the stadium that they are building needs more money to continue. And i think that 55million+keirrison+caceres+henrique =Villa and Mata is already a MEGA deal. And with their debts now,Valencia is most likely pressured and will therefore sell David and Juan.
@tengku - i can only hope you are proved right...
technically weaker than Eto'o ?
no way...he is superior at that point.
20m euro for him would be acceptable, but atletico doesn't sell at that price.
Forlan is not going to be sold cheaply like we all think. If only we were the ones who got Torres.I bet it'll be so easy to convince David Villa to come. And he is a better finisher than Eto.
But dreams are dreams.BTW,Forlan's buy-out clause is 36 million €.
@anony.I hope villa comes too.Forlan is too old.He is like Luca Toni.He won't be at his best for so long.He is one of the most under-rated strikers in Europe but still, for me,personnaly,he is way too old to replace someone like Eto.
Take note that at my first comment,I didn't mean to say we are going to get Mata but we have a BIG chance to get Villa.
BTW,

eto is million time better than forlan!!!renewal etoo!!!
aguero aguero
forget villa and folran
My first choice is aguero to. but the 55m deal for mata and villa sound fine to me. I'm afraid valencia won't go for it. We're running out of options i'm afraid.Forlan is a very bad solution. he only scored a lot of goals for two seasons. it wasn't always this good. eto'o is more dangerous, stronger charachter and he can also score when he's out of form. forlan doesn't share that quality.there pretty similar, but i rate eto'o higher. Forlan is more of a team player.but 30y old..pff
I think villa is worth 35 and mata 20. the loan (not sell!) of caceres and keirrisson will be good for us in the future because they both have qualities.
So that would mean etoo could do more damage to us by demanding to leave now instead of waiting a year since we can no longer get villa.
barca4life,waiting a year???eto's contract will be out!
exactly etoo could do more damage by leaving now instead of staying with us for the year and playing for us and then leaving for free.
If we buy Forlan or Villa, because of their age they'll almost surely also leave for free one day, so that won't be a difference for our finances actually. Henry will probably also leave for free in 2011, that's how it goes. if the board has just offered him a renewal right after the season, we wouldn't have been in this mess...
