Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona has decided not to renew the contract of Esteban Gorostiaga, the physiologist who joined the staff last summer to keep an eye on the diet of the players (read more here).
The main reason for the decision would be a report by Gorostiaga written half-way the season in which he recommended to give up one of the three competitions because the team wasn't capable of playing all the games left without risking injuries of the key players. Another problem was that the doctor rarely came down to the pitch and only focused on analyzing data that had been collected.
Since the diet is a main focus point of Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola, Barcelona would now be looking for another nutritionist who can replace Gorostiaga next season and keep an eye on the eating habits of the players.

Think it was the latter that cost him the job; by not even being in the city most of the time.
i agree with ibes, also we risked injuries by playing with the same players for the 6-7 difficult matches in a row,we were lucky that we had only minor injuries, and dont forget iniesta was injured and played the cl final with one leg(i bet guardiola would hear it for using him if we didnt win the game)
also those 6-7 games we used the same players cause guardiola didnt believe in hleb/guddy/bojan/pedro(injured?)/sylvinho/caceres enough so if he still doesnt (i think he change his attitude for bojan after the last 3 games where bojan played amazing)he should sell them or they are just dead weight(i mean guddy/hleb/caceres)
Now dismiss Txiki also. I am sad with his progress so far. Pep please do u know why i asked u the other time whether u believe we were going to get villa,it is because the reports i'm hearing suggests that Barca have made a mammoth bid of 55 mil but for both villa and mata which imo it is just senseless. Villa alone costs 45 mil. Let's pay the right amount for players and stop being so stingy all in the name 'paying right amount.' after all we paid much for carceres who isn't even playing. Villa, villa, villa villa villa villa pls laporta can't u see.
If they don't have the money, you cannot buy what you want, it's that easy. They don't have some secret place where they can get extra money whenever they want.
this is pure crap... sorry for the expression... but everything that was said in the articles of newspapers such as SPORT related to this article were pretty much a bunch of lies...
whenever someone in the stuff of a team, who has been there for a while doesn't like someone, or thinks that another person could be getting much better along with the players than he/she does, then the coach has to decide: either firing the guy who has been there for long time, or the new guy...
And then, the guy who was jealous, just gives "NEW" information to the press, modifying it so he is the good guy in the story, even avoiding the good things that the person that was fired aported to the team...
and there you go, you get stories such as this one... Soccer is great in its main idea, but in the end it is just like society, a bunch of lies and jealousy...
