British tabloid The Daily Mail claims that Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Barcelona defensive midfielder and Ivorian international Yaya Touré (26) (read more here).
Amid growing concern over the fitness of Manchester United player Owen Hargreaves after two major knee operations last season, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson would have asked about Touré, who could be allowed to leave Barcelona if Liverpool defensive midfielder Javier Mascherano is signed by Barcelona this summer.

Hmm interesting. Michael Essien would be great at Barcelona. To me with out a doubt the best D-Mid in the world.
Essien is great, but no real DM. He's more like Keita, who can play higher.
Replacing Toure by mascherano would be a downgrade. Toure can also play centre-back and attacking midfielder and is just made for our DM position.
Agree with u groga, Toure is realy needed and after all hard work we sell him?
No way.
Exellent in attack, perfect crosses and deep balls.
Maestro in defence!
BUT! Mascherano is good at this points to.
Oh My GOD ...! Is Barca going to sign anyone this summer ? we are just interested, interested & interested ... and we have pre season kicking off in nearly 2 weeks !
it would not be good idea to sell Toure. Great player
???? Thought he has already extended his contract with pay rise.
NOT FOR SALE !!
toure is in my view one of the best midfielders in the world
if mashcherano comes he will Sub for Toure.
I guess if the board would ever agree to release Tuore due to MU problem with Hargreaves fitness, my suggestion is .... why stop there? Lets loan them Messi and Iniesta as well so they can win the CL next year.
he is THE best on his position
They want him, let them pay his buyout
Agreed - a 100.000.000 € and not a cent less. Players like Yaya Toure are a rare commodity - in all of Europe you won't find a player like him. Tall, strong, technically sound and a fine passer. He is what you get when u mix Daniele De Rossi with Essien. Combative and Skillful. ManU can kiss our ass and so can Madrid.
he signed a new deal doh!!
should never sell him, if only for the factthat for every article about him pep has managed to find a new picture of him thwarting ronaldo! will be useful next year!
Still have some left... ;)
