Mascherano asks Barcelona to make a bid

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Liverpool defensive midfielder and Argentine international Javier Mascherano (25) has asked Barcelona to make a concrete bid.

Mascherano would already have talked with Liverpool manager Rafael Benítez to inform the coach that he would like to move to Barcelona but this didn't lead to any result. The entourage of the Argentinian would think that it's now up to Barcelona to make a move.

Man City website states that they have given up on Eto'o. Looks like Etoo's forcing a move to the club he wants. Milan apparently can't afford his wages.

That leaves only Manchester United, and they want him to take a pay cut. This is exactly like last year, nobody seems to want him. Could he still try to play his way to the end of his contract?

if he does he ll be spending most of his time warming the bench,if he wants to leave for free barca will make sure hes rusty and not at his peak plus the african cup is commin up and the world cup and im not sure he ll take that chance.villa will be the main striker next season.i hope

i have a strange gut feeling that eto will be used in a swap deal for ibra or he might in the end stay and renew his contract, i don't see any way for him to see out his contract considering the african cup of nations and the world cup are near and if he remains at barca he will be a backup for villa...

Well, this is a report by El Mundo Deportivo, while Sport is claiming that Benitez will say no to the transfer.

rafa is a mad man.

At the end of the day the club will listen to the player not the manager. If masherano wants out he will leave.

why is Rafa crazy ?

he knows what an important role Mascherano will play and how difficult he will be to replace

he has also said how the careera of Alosno and Mascherano ahve benefitted enormously from their moves to Liverpool, why not ? Mascherano was stuck on West Ham bench when rafa signed him

And then what? L'pool will ask for over-market price, barca says no and we're back to square one, wasting precious time.
