Barcelona preparing strong bid for Bruno Alves

Portuguese sports paper A Bola unconfirmedly claims that Barcelona is preparing a strong bid for Porto central defender and Portuguese international Bruno Alves (27).

The offer would be around 30 million euro°, which is the buyout clause of the player. Porto wouldn't be willing to let the player, whose contract expires in 2012, leave for less than the buyout fee.

Portuguese sports paper Record claims that it's very probable that Barcelona will make a bid for Bruno Alves in the coming days after a deal on the transfer of Shakhtar Donetsk central defender and Ukrainian international Dmytro Chyhrynskiy (22) didn't seem possible (read more here).

You gotta be kidding. If you pay 30 mil for this guy than put another 30 and buy Ribery. We don't need CB that much.

30 million? When we have an abundance of central defenders? Yeah right!

If this goes through, I'll almost (almost!) certainly cry. 30 million for a 27 years old centre-back who we don't really (yes, we always need more guys but not really) need. Give 20 for Chygrinskiy then, he's at least younger. Although we have Muniesa coming, so we have Pique-Muniesa for the future. So just no!

go for that other guy in the picture he is lot better...and best for us

Look at the source people. Portuguese paper hoping a Portuguese player sells for a lot? Hardly surprising.

30 million is ridiculous to reinforce an area of the club that is not desperate for that sort of replacement...With Henrique coming in, at best a mid tier CB could be needed.

The other defender in the pic is LB Cissokho...Terrific player who probably would be cheaper and would be ideal, actually

hey guys there are rumors that real may try to bid for cesc.... is it true?? after failing to even get the attention of messi and ineista i always taught that real under perez would play their dirty tricks on barca by trying to repeat figo episode using cesc... is barca making any concrete offers for cesc??

Vidic has also said they've made a 30-35 millions bid for him, so they might be looking for an experienced centre-back...

rather make a dual bid for both cissoko and bruno alves if guardiola really needs a experienced cb and lb prob would be solved
say 25m + loan of caceras+ loan of keirrison

We need RW cover! If Messi gets injured, we cant actually expect Pedro and maybe Hleb to replace his goals, assists and overall influence can we? Iniesta should only preform there incase of emergencies. Right now, we have more cover for the LW so I don't really understand Barca or Pep G. right now. I consider Ribery much more important to us than David Villa. I am perfectly fine with having Eto'o as our Striker for next season. Ribery can play on both wings and him, Pedro, Hleb and Henry can provide enough cover for LW and RW positions while also giving time to players like Jeffren and Gai. Villa can also play as our LWCF kind of player like Henry but it isn't his natural position and he is more needed as our Striker.
