British tabloid News of the World claims that Chelsea is interested in Barcelona midfielder and Portuguese international Deco (30), who will leave Barcelona in the summer (read more here).
And with Chelsea midfielder and English international Frank Lampard (29) still wanted by Barcelona, a swap deal could be a possibility.
Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo meanwhile claims that AC Milan has contacted Jorge Mendes and Sergio Alves, the agents of Deco, to ask about the situation of the player, who is also followed by Newcastle.
Milan is aware of the interest of city-rivals Inter, who contacted Deco before through former Barcelona and Inter player Luis Suárez. The Italians would want to close the deal before former Chelsea manager José Mourinho joins Inter, since Deco would like to team-up with his former coach. Milan defensive midfielder Gennaro Gattuso (30) could be included in the deal.

Well I think it's pretty obvious that if you had your choice of the two you would pick Lampard in a heartbeat. He would be a "shoe in" to fill Deco's spot plus he can provide the long ball threat the club is looking for as well. But there's no way that Chelsea's going to let him go in a straight swap for Deco. What Chelsea wants is Deco AND Dos Santos in return and if I'm Barcelona I say, "Thanks, but no thanks" and move along.

i personally think barcelona should sell deco for cold hard cash and then pursue some young attcaking midfielders.diego is obviously the best option but can der vaart or moutinho wouldnt be bad options rither. also, since zaragoza got relegated aimar will probably be up for grabs as well. oh, and they should also take a look at zapater as well.

Good point on Zaragoza, maybe we can pick up something there for little money. Like we picked up Sylvinho when Celta got relegated a few years ago.

Gattuso has renewed with Milan until 2011, so I guess we can drop that rumour.
Lampard will not leave Chelsea, thank godness.

Wow! so much contempt towards Lampard. If you didn't know any better by reading some of the comments above you'd swear the guy was a poser! While he may not bring the creativity and "touch" in midfield, he's capable of launching deadly long range strikes. I assumed that was something Barcelona were after as well? I respect everyone else's opinion but I still think Frank is a damn good player.
