You know, when Yaya scored the first goal and Bojan was running along beside him I was just thinking "Stay out of the way Bojan, you dont want to risk getting steamrolled". I was worried Krkic looked so excited, he was about to jump in Yaya's path and then somehow in the end thought better of it.

Extraordinari reportatge fotogràfic. Felicitats!
Al menys no l'he sabut veure.

can any1 kindly give an insight or little comment on what the last image is meant to mean? "we nations of europe, good bye spain" and is that from barca or athletic fans?

Anonymous said...

A2J - Neither Catalunya or Basque Country feel that they are Spanish by choice... they would prefer to be independent... I think it's just a show of contempt. Ironic that these two teams are playing in the Kings Cup Final...

FCB-Fitz said...

A2J, it is probably meant to be from both supporters. Both the Basques and Catalans (not all, but most) consider themselves separate nationalities who just happen to be part of the Spanish state.

i think it was meant to be from both fans, both the basques and catalans see themselves as seperate nations states, independent of spain, hence all the booing during the anthem and directed toward, i guess, the king? things keep going from bad to worse for madrid!

can someone plz tell me who r those 2 person in the 5th last image. Thank you!

Iniestar said...

Hey anony, they are the King (Juan Carlos I) and Queen (Sofía) of Spain. In Catalan the King's name is Joan Carles I, but he doesn't like people calling him that.

it's also a coincidence that both teams hold the most copa del rey and 2 of the three teams never to be relegated from the top division, anti-spain are ruling lol.

Apparently there was a scandal about TVE , National Tv of Spain, manipulated something about playing national anthem b4 the match. There were a lot of whistles while anthem playing in field as well as when King of Spain entered, but TVE didn't airing live at that moment instead they edited and broadcasted the manipulated version nationawide..

Here is the link

No wonder anti-spain ppl pissed off ~~ ><

no offence to anyone or any country everyone has choice n freedom to express themselves, bt i find it weird signs like these wont they create differences b/w ppl in spain? after all said n done they r teh same country. im an indian n here in india there r more than 60 languages, an average indian knows atleast 3 langauages. u wud find every religion in teh world here bt no one tlks like they r separate or anything ya sure our politicians r teh worst u wud find anywhere in teh world n they try everything to create communial differences among teh ppl bt these kinda things r always discouraged in our country. even thought there r ppl who feel tht we r nt part of this country mostly muslim. bt these types of negative elements r nt encouraged. i dont know anything bout spanish history or culture. bt booing when teh national anthem is sung is nt good. after all u all r spaniards. just like whether hindu, muslims or sikh we all r indians.

It would help Rahul, to read up a little about Spanish history. The Franco era of fascism banned the use of the Catalan language and resorted to considerable cultural repression. The unification of the provinces was something contested even before this under the Spanish Crown. The Basques always considered themselves separate while the Catalans trace their history to the crown of Aragon and even before this were an autonomous or separate entity from Castilla (the region of Madrid from where the government of Spain operates.)

The booing of the national anthem is an expression of resentment against the suppression of the Basque and Catalan cultures.

The province and region a Spaniard hails from is as vital a part of his identity as a person's religion is in India. So, people from Catalunya identify themslves as Catalan as much as you would identify yourself as a Muslim or Hindu and the displays antipathic to the Spanish Crown would be similar to the sort of reaction you might resort to if you were forced to go to a Mosque to show your deference to a ruling religion.

rahul said...

oh k. i didnt know all tht. well ima hindu. n i have been to a mosque. bt ya i know wt u mean. bt dont u think this kinda of a behaviour is extremist. do teh differences still exist? i mean does teh spanish govt. still encourage teh suppresion of teh basuqe n catalan cultures. if they dont then ppl shud start thinking of themselves as one nation. bt everyone has choice just giving my opinion. i think tht ppl shud nt encourage this, keeping ur religion ur identity n where ur come frm everything is of outmost important. bt if tht causes differences amongst ur own ppl then thts nt gud. n if thts teh case then every indian today shud go attack teh great britain. n every now n then shud oppose teh british n start rallies. after all they r teh reason today in our country muslims feel nt part of this nation, nt every bt many. they ruled this country for almost 250yrs n turned this counrty in to a shit garbage where 62 yrs ago teh yr when teh british left india 98% of teh ppl didnt have food to eat, when u consider te fact tht india was at one pt. such a rich a country they used to call it teh golden bird. bt epl is teh most famous league in india as u wud find 85% of teh football fans here epl supporters. n every yr 100s of indians go to UK either to study, get a job, anything. idk wts teh situation is in spain right now. so i cant really comment bt if its better n situation is completely different now then ppl shud start thinking more as a spaniard than as a catalan or a basque. i know even here in india ppl think as sikh n punjabi, hindu, bengali. bt its always discouraged. whereas i dont c anyone saying anything here.

Well, it depends on how you look at it.

If you were a Sri Lankan would you like being ruled by India ?

If you were a Palestinian would you like being ruled by Isreal?

If you were an Albanian would you like being ruled by a Serb ?

If you were a Kashmiri Muslim would you like being subjugated the Indian military ?

If you were an Indian and for some reason your government signs an accord saying that you agree to be ruled by Pakistan for the next 100 yrs would you like it?

It depends on where you stand in each situation. Why should a Catalan accept Spanish rule ? Just coz, its been like that for the last 75 yrs and people who cant bother to go into the details cannot see Catalunya or the Basque province as anything other than a small area in Spain?

kamikaze, good description, but you also forget the parts of the spanish civil war, where Franco sent the army to dominate spain, and catalunya was the last place to hold out. But in the process of 'dominating' and taking over spain, the army went to towns and villages, ad asked if the people were with franco or against him. If you were with him, you were left, if you were against him, you were shot. Things like this are the reason for the hatered that exists, even today.

rahul said...

was catalunya n basque different like completely different country to spain? then i understand teh feelings. plus i think u know more than u know kashmiri muslims r indians so if they were to get ruled by indian military then it means teh whole country is under their control. pls dont make comments by watching those stupid BBC news n world news where instead of showing how things r they show wt they think of teh things r like n show it in tht manner. n if u didnt know pakistan n india were one country before british came n divided us. n also muslims r nt only in kashmir bt every where in india.

kamikaze kontiki said...

true, The Spanish Civil War had many episodes which taken individually were capable of creating resentment but to be honest I dont know too much about it. So I was just trying to communicate that the idea of Spain as an integrated entity was never one with univeral appeal especially within the region itself.

kamikaze kontiki said...

Yup, Rahul, and there are Muslims in India and Pakistan who believe that there should be a single Muslim nation extending from the borders of Afghanistan to Bangladesh. And they are just as certain of their convictions as you are of yours. But I am sure you will insist that you are right and they are wrong because .. . well because .. you are right and they are wrong.

The point I am trying to make is that history is interpreted differently by both sides and the only wrong is to take a myopic view.

kamikaze kontiki said...

Hmm.. as for Kashmiri Muslims, they are Indian not because they held a referendum and chose to be Indian at the time of creation of the Indian Republic but because their ruling Nizam signed a treaty with India.

This, in fact is what is Pakistan's bone of contention over Kashmir because in the opinion of Pakistanis, since Kashmir was and is a Muslim majority state, a referendum at that time would have lead to them chosing Pakistan rather than India.

kamikaze kontiki said...

The spread of a Muslim state from Afghanistan to Bangladesh ?

I believe it was published in the news channels as a map created by the Indian Mujahideen.

rahul said...

well ur right about teh fact bt i wasnt asking wt happend as i think a lil more than u bout my own country n tht doesnt change teh fact they r indians. does it? thts wt i say stop watching those news channel. do u kno wt is indian mujahideen? firstly tell me tht?

kamikaze kontiki said...

Kiddo, I am as indian as you are ... and clearly more in touch with current events and historical ones . :)

rahul said...

see ppl can belive wt they want like u said. ur nt indian n clearly u watch news whcih gives a all teh shit information. n indian mujahiddin is a terrorist group, which claimed tht they r indian bt it has been proved they r pakistanis. n if u believe in wt a terrorist has to say n give it as an eg. then n offence bt ppl shud believe tht wt teh spanish king did was right. im nt saying this its according to u.
