Henry, Eto'o, Toure and Keita are for sale

British newspaper The Observer claims that Barcelona is preparing to sell players in the summer because of an unexpected 30 million euro deficit due to a dispute over television rights, which would endanger the club's transfers' plan.

Barcelona will encourage Manchester City interest to step up their interest in Barcelona forward and French international Thierry Henry (31) to support their own recruitment strategy.

They would like to replace Henry with Arsenal winger and Dutch international Robin van Persie (25) and add his Arsenal team-mate Cesc Fàbregas (21) to their midfield, but currently do not have the resources to fund both transfers.

Although Henry has been a more effective force this campaign, the Frenchman turns 32 in August and is considered replaceable. While Barcelona would accept far less than the 125 million euro° buyout clause, the player himself is understood to be unwilling to switch the success and climate of Barcelona for the uncertainty of chasing a top-four place at Manchester City and the possibility of jeopardising his place in France's 2010 World Cup squad.

Barcelona would also be receptive to offers for forward Samuel Eto'o (28), who they fear losing for nothing when his contract expires at the end of next season, and midfielders Yaya Touré (25) and Seydou Keita (29), aware that both midfielders are likely to be on Africa Cup duty in January.

This comes like a chock to me..
Henry, Ok- prefer Ribery in front of RVP.
Eto'o- hmm, maybe if we get Villa.

Touré and Keita?
Okej they both going to Africa so we lose 2 defensive midfielders.

who will we buy into their places?
Mascherano?

I think the only one of those that should leave is Eto'o. He is in/past his prime now, one year left on his conctract and this is the last time that we can get some money out of him.

As far as I know Barcelona have one of the best finances in world football together with Bayern Münich, i.e they don't have tons of debts like all the english clubs.

I think we would have good cover for midfield even without Touré and Keita. Marquez and Pique can play defensive midfielder and they would do a good job. The matches in january/february isn't the most important of the season, you have no CL-matches, only copa and liga.

I think this is a load of rubbish. Barça are one of the heathiest clubs in the world when talking about finances.

I really hope this is 4 days late.

I don't really mind selling the 4 players, but we'll have to buy others instead.
Not RVP, he sucks, I can live with Ribery, but woul, by far, prefer Kun or Silva.
Zlatan or Villa for the center forward.
And instead of Keita and Yaya, I like Cesc and De Rossi/Aquilani.

Selling these four without substitutes would brake the team.
I can't believe it, if they would make a financial error like this.

dont see why we should sell toure or keita, two great players and are happy at barca. i can understand the other two transfers however but i would prefer it if they both stayed. one thing for sure is i hope we dont get van persie, hes shit. definetly go for silva or ribery.

YAYA is the perfect player for that spot. There is no better player than him in the world. Very strong, intelligent and young. it would be a madness if barca sell him.

And, if this story is to be believed, we sell excellent players who will need to be replaced, which helps the bottom line how, exactly?

30 million Euros isn't all that much. The story is nonsense.

It's too soon to sell Keita as we still don't know how he's going to work out. I refuse to entertain even the thought of selling Yaya. Yesterday's match should have made that clear.

As for Henry and Eto'o, the former has said that he will only play for Arsenal in the Prem, and I believe that. The latter is a definite possibility, but we won't get as much as everyone on our side of the fence thinks he's worth. I'd almost keep him for that reason, but renewed--definitely not for 5 years, though. He's crazy wanting that.

this is nonsense story. First of all buying Van Persie is the greatest blunder. Secondly, when one looks at the article one is tempted to ask if they want to do away with all the black players at Barcelone. The worst blunder will be trying to sell eto and yaya. Keep them.
