Pacheco: "When I was a kid, I supported Madrid"

Liverpool reserves forward and former Barcelona youth player Dani Pacheco (18) gave an interview to his club's official website. Some excerpts.

What's it like being recognised?
It feels good when you are with your family or friends or girlfriend. People always say, 'When are you going to be in the first team?' I say, 'I don't know, I don't know - ask Rafa!' It has happened more since this pre-season.

Which stadium would you love to play in?
I'd like to play at Anfield in the Premier League or Champions League, but apart from that it's the Bernabeu. When I was a kid I supported Real Madrid. I think it's the best stadium in Spain and maybe one of the best in the world. I lived so far away in Malaga and Barcelona so I never went to games but I've been a few times now.

Which team's results do you look out for?
Malaga, because it's my home, and Real Madrid. I think they will probably win La Liga this season. They have signed most of the best players! Maybe they haven't signed defensive players but they will be okay!

Career high so far?
The best thing has been signing for Liverpool and since then the two pre-seasons I have spent with the first team - especially the one just gone. Playing with all the star names and going to Singapore and Bangkok with all those fanatical people. I knew it would be good but I didn't expect there to be so many fans.

Career low?
Thankfully I haven't had many. Maybe when I left home at 12 years old to play for Barcelona. But since then I've never been injured and everything has got better, better, better. Touch wood.

Area to improve on?
Everything! I am only 18 years old. The main things though are my strength and my work with the defenders. I also need to make easier passes.

Your main attributes?
Playing between the lines, trying to get the ball all the time, getting assists and tryng to score goals.

No wonder he did not continue at the academy :)
He's a pure madridista!!!

Guess it explains some things. Although Iniesta supported Madrid too... Guess for forwards it has long been very rare to get to the first team. But this seems to be changing now with Messi, Bojan and Pedro.

Now..... to those ppl who keeps on complaining about Cesc, had he say the same words as this prick, I'm sure he won't be accepted by Guardiola, let alone the fans.

When it's RM result that he looks out for every matchday, then there's no place for him at this club.

Good Riddance.

You were once @ Barca and never appreciated it while other players dream of wearing the Barca jersey

What a horrible mentality compare to Bojan, Pedro, Busquets, JDS, etc. No wonder he hasn't been succesful @ Anfield...

As Buj put it Good Riddance.

The Blaugrana educated him and this is how he pays us back. I hate his guts.

I apologize for the tone and language in my statement...

it's just in this world you must learn to be appreciative of what you have and thankful of the opportunities that are given to you in life b/c people at times do not have the luxuries and opportunities that other people have

Thats the one thing I've learned is to be grateful of what you have

he is a scrub anyway...so who cares?

Uhhh, what a twat this Pacheco - I hope he will be "successful" like Giovani dos Santos in England.

But maybe good he left. He never felt the love for our club and Ruben Rochina became more important after Pacheco left because Rochina was always in his shadow.

Pacheco is just a little boy who cant accept the fact the he didnt arrive to the barça first team and that barça didnt hold on to him

Good that he left our academy then. La Masía shouldn't train madridistas.

I'm trying to contain my language. It's an unfortunate feature that players of La Masia keep on supporting RM even after several years at the academy. Yet everybody has his teams and freedom to chose them, and this happens mostly in a non-rational way at younger age.

A fact which has clearly been underlined in this case. I hope he will never turn out to be good or that he may and yet see the light at a later age.

i'm sure that the scousers are happy to see that this kid will leave them for madrid as soon as he is famous.

I hope this guy fails miserably and ends up playing in some crap team.....wait a minute,he's already in a crappy team!!

What a prick ... He's a nobody anyway. Madrid can have him ...

Even in professional football there are certain things that one can't get themselves to do! If he loved madrid so much how could he put on the Barca shirt?!!!

Disgrace ...

Well it's actually a good thing in a way. It's not like he used to be a Barca fan and switched to a Madridista. He supported the circus even before entering La Masia. Now the question we should ask is, why did he still join La Masia as opposed to Madrid youth campus? Doesn't that tell us something about the importance of a youth campus for a club?

You are a pure traitor and you will never be in the 1st eleven of Barca.Maybe in Real yeah but in Barca its a big no.

Anyway,do yoyu notice that Rafa always sign players from Spain?

i hope this looser flops like crazy n goes to play in eng 2nd division i hope liverpool dont win anything n this guy is teh biggest flopl. un grateful lil bastard

he's not good looking enough to play for madrid.

Anonymous said...

He doesn't deserve to play in a great team like Liverpool. It's funny that this idiot can't have enough time to play because of Torres who is a great striker & anti-madridista!

Anonymous said...

iniesta wasn't a madridista.... he said that he supported madrid because barcelona had just beaten albacete 5-0 or something, and albacete was his favorite club so he had to change his second favorite club(first barca then he changed to real madrid)... He said all this in a interview that he did in spain.. you can find it in youtube...
